Chapter 245: The Hero’s Party

The Cold Weather is no longer just sothing one can ignore. Even the castle themselves are no longer able to endure it. It would have been understandable if the winter situation was sothing happening all over the world...but because this event is exclusive to Darcero Kingdom, the king is not happy with it. One can say that the escalating problem of continuously making things harder is now even impending the regular duties of the royals, so the King decided to call the expert magicians and adventurers to talk with them about this weather.

Duke Darcy sighed as he shivered making his way to the palace. On his way are both the Grandparents of Elaina also attending the eting. Despite being the forr heroes and are now retirees, with the situation being much more troubleso than it should be, they decided to also pitch into the work.

"Sir Rakkan...Saintess Liliana...it seems the castle has also called for you two," Duke Darcy said, still trying his best to continue talking despite his jaw seemingly feeling like they were about to freeze and stop working.

"Oh my, you are shivering Duke Blackwing. Here, use this. This should at least help a bit," Saintess Liliana handed Duke Darcy a red marble.

"Eh? What is this?"

"Just keep it inside your jacket and it will allow you to feel a bit warm once it is inside there. It is a temporary solution for the cold snap’s effects. Although it won’t remove the coldness of the weather, it won’t be as bad as before," Saintess Liliana explained.

"Thanks."

Duke Darcy received the red marble and kept it inside the pocket of his jacket. It was only a few seconds since he put the marble inside and the coldness had finally started to subside.

"Is this one of the solutions that you two will be presenting at today’s eting?" Duke Darcy asked.

"Not really. We do plan to introduce this marble to the public as a way of helping everyone pass this terrible weather. It’s a temporary plan for this weather despite the theories of many that this weather will continue to get worse in the future," Rakkan said with a sigh. "I am too old for this sh*t...where are the heroes that have succeeded in our job? Isn’t this their job now?"

Duke Darcy can only laugh. He can’t say much about the heroes. After all, even he has no idea what they are currently doing despite traveling from kingdom to kingdom to visit various locations and even then, he hasn’t heard much traction from the new heroes.

The three continued on to the room where the eting would take place and as soon as they entered the room, they were welcod with a packed room full of various people. So are familiar faces and so are foreign and new to their eyes.

But their attention imdiately shifted to the group standing in the front.

"Well, speak of the devil, it seems the New Heroes were invited as well. And here I thought about calling them useless for not resolving this matter as soon as possible," Rakkan laughed.

"Co on, Rakkan. Even in our pri, this kind of problem is not going to be sothing we would be able to finish imdiately either," Saintess Liliana elbowed Rakkan.

"But I am surprised that those guys are present. It seems that this is not just a laughing matter if the heroes themselves decide to help out as well," Duke Darcy said as he looked at the Hero’s Party who were all composed and seed always to be in business mode. Well, except for one of their mbers.

"No offense to these young ones but I don’t really like the new hero’s party. I heard that they are doing the bare minimum stuff and are even charging the cities or people they are helping with exorbitant amounts of compensation for their ti being wasted," Rakkan sighed.

Despite Duke Darcy being always neutral in terms of opinions, for once, he is on board and also in sync with Rakkan’s mindset. The new hero’s party was not that great compared to the feats of Rakkan’s Hero’s Party. Comparing the two groups is like light and darkness and that is just so light interpretation.

After a while, the King arrived. Compared to his usual attire as the king, he is covered from head to toe clothes for protective weather. If not for the crown on his head, many would assu that the man was just so regular man joining a bunch of magicians and other high-ranking officials like nothing.

"Good morning everyone...Sorry for calling everyone out for this eting despite the debilitating state of the weather right now. But this situation must be resolved. Please have a seat everyone."

Everyone imdiately went to their seats as the discussion began.

"I appreciate that the Hero’s Party also accepted my summons despite the trouble that is happening right now. We are hoping to have a aningful discussion about this situation."

The Hero, Zayne grinned. "This better be great. We expect to be compensated for this matter as well. We do work but not for free, and many know that."

Although the response took aback the king, he didn’t show it too much and nodded in agreent.

"Of course. We are grateful for every help we can get. We will provide compensation and reward to everyone who will be able to solve this problem once and for all. I am not expecting any good results but I do hope that everyone will be able to solve this problem."

"Heh, this should be a piece of cake for us. After all, we are the hero’s party."

Many of the guards of the king do not like this kind of disrespect coming from the hero himself. However, they didn’t say anything to ensure that the negotiation with the hero and his party remained complete and did not completely ruin everything.

Even the magicians seem to also not like the way the hero is treating the King like nothing but since the King didn’t call him out for this behavior, they didn’t say anything.

Rakkan grits his teeth. He didn’t build the reputation of the Hero’s Party to be like this...and yet the new hero seems to have been bathing in the lilight as if he has done anything remotely good worthy of praise. But he didn’t voice out his frustration. He can still hold it out and he is not there to argue.

Even Saintess Liliana held Rakkan’s arm and shook her head to ensure Rakkan did not do anything.

"Now, we will begin the eting. Magicians, please tell us your findings about the weather," the King glanced at the magicians allowing them to start talking.

"Your Majesty, we have concluded in our tests that this situation is indeed not a regular weather phenonon. We have asked so of the Weather Witches for accurate weather forecasts and whether the current snowfall is made by a monster or a normal incident and based on their findings, sothing else is doing this matter."

"Our data have also concluded that if left alone, this weather will not only continue to worsen, but it will also spread further to the whole world slowly but surely."

The other nobles involved in this eting started to mutter things.

"Thank you for the report. How about the Adventurer’s Guild? Sir Rakkan?" the King looked at Rakkan and the latter stood up from his seat.

"Unlike the magicians who directly asked help from the Weather Witches to gather accurate data, we are currently investigating sothing else at the mont as we have noticed that made us think we have seen so link to this current situation from our recent findings so far and so of the regular monster outbreaks we have been dealing left and right."

"Monster outbreaks?" the King was surprised.

"You will be surprised, Your Majesty that the outbreak of the monsters seems to be not gaining much traction than it should be. Of course, that is thanks to the tireless effort of the adventurers who keep the peace of the kingdom as the priority. We made sure the news is not too spread out to ensure that the public is not going to panic," Rakkan explained.

"Does that an there is a monster causing all of these? And so, can you tell us what monster was this?" the King asked.

"Not really. But their increased appearance rate has shown connections as to why the temperature continues to drop further. As for the monsters themselves, we labeled them as Snow Man. According to ancient records, they should have been extinct after the Ice Lord was sealed when the gods walked alongside humans before. Since they reappeared, we assud that they must be linked to this and we discovered that there is indeed a possibility that they are indeed connected."

"How co?"

"We traced back the source of the monsters and it was located over at the place where the Ice Lord was once sealed. But now, the Ice Lord is gone."

After Rakkan said those results, Zayne started laughing.

"Is there sothing funny, Hero?" the King asked.

"Hahaha, of course, there is. I thought the forr Hero himself would be so formidable and capable individual. But it seems those rumors were greatly exaggerated."

Rakkan frowned upon hearing that. Sure, so of the tall tales people made on their tales are a bit hard to believe but so of them are actually real. "What are you implying at?"

"You are too late on the findings. We are already tracking the location of the Ice Lord himself. This is why we are confident that we will be able to lift this problem once and for all. So seeing you look at our recent investigation and finding the sa result as ours but a bit tad slower, I just find it a bit funny."

Rakkan is quiet but he is holding his anger.

"It seems that the saying that the older generation cannot hold any candles to the current generation. And it seems that also holds true to the forr heroes as well."

Rakkan is already raging in anger and is ready to burst out anyti. Although it is fine that the current generation of heroes surpasses the older generation, that doesn’t an they have the right to mock and sha them for doing so honest work. But he still held back. He is considerate to the King and everyone else and he doesn’t want trouble.

"Don’t worry, forr heroes. As much as you old people pride yourselves as the heroes who have saved the world, we are fine with just us doing all of the work. Sit back and retire from this hero business as you all are just nuisance, still clinging to their forr fa."

Before Zayne can react, a large cross flew straight to him and caused the hero to be sent flying to the wall, breaking it in the process.

Everyone was flabbergasted, and even Rakkan was surprised. The one who threw the cross was his wife, Liliana.

"I am sorry for ruining your walls, Your Majesty. Don’t worry and we will pay for the damages. But first, I shall give so lecture to this ungrateful brat," Liliana’s eyes are now burning with rage. She is pissed.
