Chapter 242: Successor
The revelation just gave Elaina confusion further.
If the Ice Lord is dead...then what is happening in Darcero Kingdom if not for the work of the Ice Lord himself?
"[Find it hard to believe after all the things we revealed from the Ice Lord’s abilities and feats right? Us too find it hard to believe as well but he gave so proof of this showing us the life essence of the Ice Lord.]"
"Life essence?"
"[Before he was sealed, he surrendered his life essence to monitor his life force and to tell the gods whether he is going to regret everything or not. The life essence will be his promise to ensure that he will do so once he have served his sentence...but that will never happen as according to the God who sealed him, the Ice Lord’s life was extinguished before he finished his ti sealed. He has exhausted his life fully in the process. His life essence stopped glowing and is now dull in color, showing his life has ceased to exist.]"
"How is that possible? Are demi gods like him easy to die? Or do they even die from old age?" Elaina asked.
"[Not at all. Normal deaths that humans suffer from old age does not apply to gods. Ti is sothing that will beco obsolete to the existence of soone once they beca a demi god. There are two possible ways for a demi god to die though and one of them probably was the cause.]"
"Two ways?"
"[Yes. First one is the obvious one. They are killed or slain. Even if they are demi-gods, they are not immortal and even gods die if they are also slain by those who are capable. Therefore, it is one of our assumption of him why he lost his life. As for the second one...although I am not sure if it is the main case, I am thinking of this as the reason for the current predicant you humans are experiencing at the mont.]"
"The second one... does that an..."
"[It seems you are thinking about it. And yes, it seems that was the main case. Soone succeeded his power, or that he purposely gave his power to soone. As a result, he died in the process. But his power lives on. And now, the one who succeeded his power is doing the legacy of the Ice Lord."
"Does that an... A new demi-god?" Elaina frowned.
"[Not necessarily. A human can gain the power like this. However, it seems that so people do have their ambitions and can be the cause of the world’s downfall one day. Elaina, if you want to find the main enemy who is causing all of this, he or she bears the mark on her right hand. Regular people will not see it, but because you are my blessed individual, you will be able to see soone with that mark. They are the ones causing this calamity.]"
"What about the trees? Are we still going to continue that plan?"
"[Although that was designed to subdue the Ice Lord for his eventual appearance, those trees do work as intended. If you have a hard ti finding who it was, those trees can help pinpoint where the person is currently staying.]"
Hearing this, Elaina is not sure whether her job to locate the reason for the increasing cold temperature has beco easier or harder. On one hand, she is a bit relieved that it is not necessarily a demi-god that is causing the problem and can be subdued in conventional ans, but there is one problem. She has no idea where to find this person in the first place. Although the trees will help according to the God of Farming, it will still take a while. Finding that person as soon as she can do will be the best option.
After their conversation, she went out of her room when the cold temperature that was clearly not as bad as before has increased dramatically. Everyone are now huddled together near the chimney. That includes Julia and Princess Margaux who are both holding Adelaide and Arthur as they made sure the two are getting ward.
Elaina has to hug herself even with her thick clothes due to the penetrative power of the cold that perates her body. It was so invasive that she can feel the heat in her body to drop significantly.
She quickly joined the others as they didn’t want to freeze to death all of a sudden.
"Co here...sis... It’s getting really cold... Even my magic can’t keep up..." Julia is having a hard ti speaking. She felt the cold all over her body and she felt like she will shiver continuously if she didn’t huddle with everyone.
Scooting near them, the warmth of everyone and the chimney’s flas finally allowed Elaina to feel warr...however, this is not going to be a permanent thing and Elaina is more eager to stop this matter once and for all.

A few days later, the temperature did not rise up even when the snowfall has stopped and everyone is struggling just to move away from the chimney. Even Shardu and Zaza who should be able to handle the cold so far...are also having a hard ti and have remained inside the house for quite a while just to keep themselves warm.
Despite the cold, Elaina cannot stop her work. Even though she is struggling to deal with the coldness of the weather, her job is not over. She still needed to gather a lot of mana stones to fill up everything she needed for the trees.
"Sis...you will still go do so work? It’s so cold...you should stay at ho..." Julia said as she keep Arthur warm by hugging him with a blanket draped on her body.
"Sorry... I can’t do that...I will need to find a way...to stop the cold and warm everyone up..." Elaina said, struggling to speak properly.
Julia couldn’t stop Elaina from doing what she wanted to do and so she silently nodded. She knows that Elaina will do anything for everyone and will even try to sacrifice her own happiness just for her loved ones. But then, she gave out a reminder for Elaina.
"Sis...don’t carry the burden alone...talk with us if you needed help...you are not alone...in this one."
Hearing that, Elaina smiled.
"Thank you...but don’t worry...I can handle it."
And so Elaina went out to do her routine even when she the place is freezing. Her task is not over just yet.
As Elaina is headed back to the mines, Elaina’s mind rembered the hot spring currently on the fifth floor of the mines.
"Hot bath... Perhaps I should try that?"
