Chapter 200: A New Beginning

Two weeks slowly passed by after Elaina had given birth to the twins. Thanks to the constant help of her grandma energizing her every ti she visited the farm, her recovery from postpartum significantly reduced. She can slowly do the things she had trouble doing as well.

Although Elaina has gotten chubbier after birth, she is doing her best to regain her previous body build. According to her grandma, it can beco permanent if she doesn’t have discipline in her body and do whatever she wants to do. Because of this, she does sword training dailies.

Since the First Princess receives her training every day from Elaina, she also starts to spar with her to slowly recover her senses in fighting. Although it is a bit of a slow progress, progress is still progress and it is proceeding smoothly.

Of course, Dr. Fey also regularly visits Elaina to check up on her and based on her estimation, Elaina can likely return to her forr heavy work in just a few more days or shorter if her Grandma continues to heal her. It is around 12 or 15 days at most which is pretty short compared to the usual postpartum recovery pregnant won will undergo.

The babies are also doing quite well and are both doted by her grandparents. Elaina could not even go shopping for clothes and necessities because their, uncle, their grandma and grandpa, and their big sis who is not related by blood all bought them things that they would need. As much as Elaina felt disappointed that she couldn’t do it, she still was grateful since she didn’t need to worry about their clothes in the future. And since the baby’s clothing is already secured, Elaina decided to save up so money to buy them individual clothes in the future once they grow bigger.

At the mont, Elaina is currently breastfeeding Arthur. Adelaide is currently sleeping allowing Elaina to handle Arthur without the need for the two to breastfeed together as it is harder than she thought. Dr. Fey taught her how to do "tandem breastfeeding" in case both babies are awake and need to have their share of milk, but so far, Elaina is only doing one baby at a ti. She did it once and she had a little trouble in positioning.

Thankfully, both her babies seem to have different tis they go hungry since Adelaide usually cries for food whenever Arthur is asleep and Arthur also goes hungry whenever Adelaide is in deep sleep. So it was a very rare case for both to be awake at once. She slowly adapted to the lifestyle of taking care of two babies every hour. It is hard, but not overly hard with everyone pitching in to help. If not for them helping out, doing all of the work alone would be hard for her.

While things are all going well and dandy, so setbacks are happening as well.

"Boss, it seems that so of our plants have contracted so diseases. If left alone, it will spread to the other plants as well. What we did was cut the infected plants to ensure that the other uninfected ones would be unaffected from it but we are still not sure if those uninfected plants will remain uncontracted by the infection," Bam reported.

"How many plants have been cut down so far?" Elaina asked as she surveyed the farm areas that had been affected.

"Around 20 percent of the overall plants that we are expecting to grow have been removed as a way to avoid the further spread of the disease. It’s minor, but the amount is not a joke."

Elaina shook her head. She did read in the news in the newspaper that the disease spreading around countless farms is very common and to those who did not inspect or saw the disease on ti would only find it too late and would only be finding their whole field affected by it, losing a large sum of money in the process.

As for the disease, it seems that it only affects the leaves which is why it is easy to spot and ignore since they only look like minor things. However, if left alone, the plant will wither and die, slowly but surely before it spreads through the other unaffected plants.

Elaina sighed and shook her head. "There’s nothing we can do about it. It’s not too late to plant new seeds to compensate for our losses though so we should instead opt to do that instead. As for the disease, itself, I will try to see for myself if I can so crop-friendly insecticide or if the Harvest Goddess has a good ability to veil the crops against the disease itself. Thanks for the report, Bam," Elaina said smiling.

"Not a problem boss!"

Elaina had dealt with matters before back when she was still the Empress and at that ti, she had little experience in terms of the spread of diseases, but she did her best and she managed to slowly succeed. It was a gradual learning for her until she got the hang of it. It is still hard even now but she is slowly getting hang of it. After all, it’s not always soft sailing now and then but there are also ups and downs in life. She needed to be prepared all the ti if she wanted to face it properly.

Winter is almost here and harvest ti is also not too far away. Preparations for their upcoming cold season are coming nicely but this will also be the first ti Elaina will be having to prepare too much for the winter season in case things go wrong. After all, she can’t just take it easy as many have said that the winters in the Darcero Kingdom can get bad real quick without apt preparations.

Which is why Elaina is getting herself ready. Once she gets to fully recover, she will take this chance to rack up resources from the forest before winter finally rolls around.

"I thought we have been on a headstart but I guess we haven’t fully started just yet, huh?" Elaina muttered to herself.

Yes, it seems that is true. Despite Elaina’s starting point has already started doesn’t an she has already passed the beginning point. After all, this is just the new beginning of Elaina’s life as a single mother.
