Chapter 175: Autumn Fair

Elaina’s grandparents took their chance to fully study the behaviors of the Wild Cows after seeing Elaina ta them. Having a chance to fully study them up close without the need to exterminate them or hide in the distance is a big contribution to the Adventurer’s Guild.

Elaina also gave them tips about the Wild Cows. After all, observation alone will not give them the right information, they also need to learn things that others have already uncovered and learned.

As for the reason why they ca there, it seems it involves the matter of the rfolk’s attack. Of course, that matter was easily resolved after Elaina and the others gave their testimonies so for the rest of the day, the old couple on the farm just stayed behind to watch and observe the work being done on the farm while also bonding with their granddaughter.

While having a good ti with her grandparents, Elaina suddenly felt movents on her belly.

"What’s wrong, my dear?" Grandma asked as she saw Elaina was taken aback.

"Ah... I felt several movents on my belly... They felt like they were kicking... Oh! There it is again!"

Hearing this, Grandma smiled and nodded at Elaina. "You will get used to it, Dear. The feeling of sothing kicking in your stomach is sothing that you will treasure a lot, especially after your labor. With them moving around, it ans they are quite healthy. I used to feel that way too when I was pregnant with your Father back then. It was good tis, really."

"Indeed. The feeling of having to feel your kids kicking on the belly is sothing I wouldn’t expect to feel excited about. It’s just sad that your husband was such a scoundrel. He wouldn’t even realize the true feeling of being a father through you since he choose to believe in that crappy religion of so cult. Who in their sane mind would forsake the lives of so kids just because they are twins? Ha, I can’t believe a whole nation was blinded by that religion," Grandpa was nostalgic at first but then got angry after shifting to the topic of Alfred and the church.

"Now, now. As I said before, you shouldn’t bother to ntion those people. They will just further ruin your mood. It’s best to not say anything and just forget about them. We have our future grandchildren greeting us, so why not say high to them?"

"Heh, you are right. I am looking forward to eting my future grandchildren, Elaina. Didn’t think that I would still be able to get the chance to see my grandchildren at my age. Thought Alfred would be the first one to bring over a grandchild but guess he was slow on the side..." Grandpa sighed.

"Hey, Grandpa, I heard that! Just to let you know, I might give you one, sooner or later. Just wait for it!"

Grandma and Elaina laughed as the two bicker about it. Elaina knew that her brother was currently making his moves to Dr. Fey and although she didn’t know how far has he progressed from courting her, she wished him the best.

As they are currently enjoying the mood of the conversation, the bird that usually delivers letters arrives once again and puts another flyer inside the mailbox before flying away.

"Huh, was that the ssenger bird that just arrived and dropped off a flyer just now?" Grandma asked.

Grandpa was the one who stood up and took the flyer inside the mailbox.

"Huh...didn’t know they will be doing the Autumn Fair at this season. It seems we have made a vacation at the right ti, Dear!" Grandpa then flashes the flyer to Elaina and Grandma.

"The Autumn Fair? What event is this, Grandpa?" Elaina asked.

"You can say that this is so kind of gathering of different traders arriving from various lands and gathering here in the Darcero Kingdom to sell their goods. It was a very big event organized by the Kingdom to improve comrce and also to introduce traders to prospective sellers of goods that they could bring and promote to other lands. You can say it is so kind of trading season for the traders, allowing them to increase their networking status and also get regional goods that they can sell to their holand," Grandpa explained.

"I didn’t know about this matter!" Elaina was surprised. After all, she likes to do so business as well but she never received any sort of information regarding things like this. If she did, she would have taken advantage of this to build connections back when she was still an Empress. Having connections to traders from various lands could have allowed her to gain an upper hand in business.

"Pretty normal. The Luminiera Kingdom never participates in fairs like this which is sad that their local products cannot be passed down to the other people in the world just because they want them to be just local products. Many people believe that these kinds of events could bring disaster as a result even though they were just traders. Which is why the business of your parents bood because they monopolized the market. It’s kind of hopeless for them to think like that."

Elaina now understood as to why it seems weird that she never see any traders from foreign countries and the like. It seems that they are purposely denying the entry of those traders due to these traditions. It really sucks.

"Elaina, I think this is a good opportunity for you to experience this event. Aside from the trading event, there also cos the other fun stuff that everyone can enjoy like the mini gas they prepared and operas being held. It will be very fun for everyone especially to first tirs. You should definitely go there, knowing you like to go to places like this," Grandma smiled as she pat Elaina’s shoulders.

"I do plan to join and experience this event. If this is about the traders, there might be so things being sold there that can help the farm from sothing. And it wouldn’t hurt to enjoy things from ti to ti instead of enduring things related to those other people."

"That’s good. The fair will happen this wednesday. We will gather here in the farm and accompany everyone who will be joining to go to the fair. As for the expenses, we will be handling it ourselves so don’t worry about the expenses as we will fork in what we can do."

Hearing this, Elaina sighed in relief. She is tight on money right now and she wanted to save it up for the upcoming Barn project so she can’t afford to just let the money go randomly to waste. All that is left now is to wait for the day of the festival to arrive.

...

While things are going progressively well, Princess Tabatha has finally returned to the castle bearing the news. She can’t afford to let the guy go or else, her sister will be forced to do the bidding of an old man and that is sothing she didn’t want to happen.

When she arrived on the castle, for so reason, the whole surroundings are scary and she felt that sothing is currently happening. She is not sure what is going on but sothing is unconsciously telling her this isn’t going to look good.

"This is odd. The castle’s guards are nowhere to be found...and even the maids and servants thar should be around are not even showing themselves. I am not liking this at all."

Princess Tabatha held the hilt of her sword as she navigates the castle. And just like the current state outside, the people who should be inside the palace are nowhere to be found. It was like the whole place was suddenly abandoned. But she is quite sure that it should be impossible.

Then, she felt so kind of power erging sowhere around the castle. It was faint, but she can’t mistake that kind of power, it is very similar to the power that Julia uses but compared to what Julia was using, this power she felt is much more dangerous and a bit weird. It was like she can feel the darkness within just by feeling it.

Despite the bad feeling, Princess Tabatha sneaked around as she keeps her vigilance in the highest regard. As she was sneaking around, she soon found sothing that caused her to stop.

At the throne room, where her Mother and Father should be whenever their was a need of audience is currently shining in bright light.

She peeked into the area and soon, saw both her parents are currently turned to stone. And she then saw the rest of the people that should be around as well. She gritted her teeth and realized the reason why everyone seems to be gone from the castle. It was because, they got petrified.

Realizing the situation, she started to return when...

"Where do you think you are going, Princess?"

That voice!

She couldn’t be wrong about it. That voice is sothing that she can indeed confirm.

Without thinking anything, she bolted out of the area. It doesn’t matter what is happening there, she needed to escape.

BANG!

A loud explosion landed just beside Princess Tabatha and she soon realized that it was the petrification magic. Thankfully, it missed. However, she couldn’t relax just yet. Realizing that this will be a bad thing, Princess Tabatha decided to do sothing bold that will allow her to get a guaranteed escape.

Without hesitation, she jumped right through the window from the third floor of the castle.
