Chapter 135: Sweetcorn, Pop Corn and White Corn
The market is not that busy due to the sweltering weather. Anyone is just not too open in terms of enduring the sumr heat and only a few people are that tough to ensure it out. Elaina is part of the latter people who can endure the sumr heat, though she didn’t want to remain basking under it either.
After walking into the streets that felt like the surface of a frying pan being heated in flas, Elaina arrived once more to the market’s seeds and produce seller and buyer. Her first seeds ca here and she still haven’t used all of the seeds she bought in here until today.
The store has variety of seeds for sale categorized by their seasonal growth and crop bearing season for farrs to easily find what they are looking for and for beginners to also know which seeds are great for the current season to grow.
As for why they don’t seem to run out of seeds, it was due to the seed maker machine that was developed by the magic tower, allowing them to drop crops inside the machine and converting them to seeds or saplings if applicable. And it doesn’t just range to farm crops, they also deal with dicinal saplings and fruit tree saplings as well. Of course, compared to just using seeds, these types are more expensive.
Aside from seeds, they also sell boosters and fertilizers as well as quality enhancers for the farrs to use though Elaina has no use for it as her fertilizer is way much better compared to both the boosters, local fertilizers, and quality enhancers combined which is why Elaina is blessed to have soone like the Harvest Goddess providing that fertilizer.
Anyway, Elaina didn’t dwell on those products more and headed to the seeds for sumr crops where the seeds of the corn are waiting.
Since the seeds are organized according to what type they are, Elaina didn’t have trouble finding what she was looking for.
"So there are only three available variants of the corn available here?" Elaina muttered to herself as she grabbed the packets of the corn variants and read their description.
"This one is a sweet corn. It has a yellow color for its grains and it is much juicier compared to its other variants. Great for eating in different ways the popular way of eating it is just by boiling it on the water or straight up grilling it.
She then sized up the other one. "This one is the white corn. Compared to the sweet corn, this one has white grains and the sweet corn had a different color. People argue that this corn has a much sweeter taste than sweet corn and is considered as the ’real sweet corn’ though there is no actual difference in taste aside from the color of their kernels. It is still a good corn to eat as it is but it is usually used as part of dishes or just the plain grilling. There are tis the young corn itself is harvested before it becos ripe and is used for cooking soup and other dishes."
Both corns offer various ways to enjoy corn and Elaina has already tried both variants. She doesn’t lean to any of the corns as both corns offer sothing unique.
After checking both corn packets, Elaina picks up the other variant which is one of the most popular types of corn known to man.
"This one is not the most common out of all the corn available but this is the one known to be the most popular out of the other corn to the point they specifically cultivated corn that would only serve its purpose as popcorn and nothing else. Its grains are similar to the sweet corn but it is not for eating straight as this one in my hands is practically cultivated as sothing for popcorn only. Drying it up after removing each kernel from its cob, the known popcorn kernels are born."
Elaina can understand the appeal of the popcorn to everyone but for her, she prefers the traditional corn more than the popcorn. It is more filling for her and she likes it more than popcorn in comparison. She does not hold the popcorn a bad reputation but she just doesn’t rank it much higher compared to other corns.
But since Elaina promised to grow popcorn and cook one in the future, Elaina took the seed along with the sweet corn and white corn seeds for purchase. She only buys an adequate amount of corn instead of buying too many.
Both the sweet corn and white corn have the sa price with 100 gold per packet which contains seeds enough to fill at least 50 plots of land per packet. As for the popcorn, it is more expensive with a price of 175 gold per packet. Understandably, it is expensive but Elaina finds it ridiculous as this particular corn is only good for popcorn and nothing else.
Still, she bought all three packets and returned ho to ready all of the necessary plots of land areas to grow the corn. She also needed to ask Julia for a good amount of Scarecrow as well to help fend off crows and birds that might start attacking and eating the growing corn.
"Thank you for the purchase!" the cashier smiled as she handed the purchase to Elaina. Elaina smiled back while her mind was still wandering around on what she would be doing next.
Elaina had a bunch of things she could do to the corn that she would be planting. It isn’t much but Elaina is much more happy to use these soon-to-be ears of corn to be harvested. Variety of dishes that use corn as an ingredient, and standalone dishes that prove these corn is good to eat.
"I can’t wait for these corns to grow soon."

When Elaina arrived ho, Julia and Princess Margaux were currently holding a big flyer in their hands.
"I’m back girls. What is that flyer you girls are reading?" Elaina asked.
"Ah, welco back Sis! While you are on the market, the sa bird that drops our usual flyers like before. Looks like this ti, it is so sort of a nightti festival held at. the beach," Julia explained.
"Another festival held on the beach?" Elaina was surprised as she took the flyer from Julia’s hands.
"We invite everyone to our annual fireworks festival happening tomorrow night. Everyone is free to attend the festivities and enjoy the free at grilling services provided by our renowned cook and barista, Mr. Guy to provide the food while watching the spectacle we prepared for this year. You can invite your family or perhaps your special soone to view the fireworks together! Please look forward to it and hope we see you guys there!"
Elaina soon understood why it is going to be held on the beach. Since the beach will be the best place to view the display, the venue of the festival is automatically held on the beach.
"I didn’t know there was a fireworks festival being held here! No wonder I sotis saw the spectacle back in the castle! Too bad the view is not that good every ti it happens," Princess Margaux revealed.
"Eh? The kingdom does not sponsor this festival?" Julia was surprised.
"No. It seems that this festival only occurs in this town which is why it wasn’t a big deal until fireworks were fired. Tomorrow will be my first experience watching it! "
Both Princess Margaux and Julia are excited about this festival. As for Elaina, she isn’t that much of an enjoyed to the fireworks but she does appreciate it. After all, Elaina is too used to these explosive performances back in Luminiera Kingdom. However, Elaina plans to attend. Not because of the fireworks, but for other reasons.
Yes, the free grilling service. Because it is free, Elaina is more than happy to partake in this festival and enjoy the festivities. She won’t say no to free food after all.

While the girls are busy discussing the upcoming festival, the smugglers disembark everything including the emperor himself to their hideout where all the smuggled goods are located and also where the guides are currently waiting for their arrival.
"Greetings your Highness. We already know your wishes to cross this forest and reach out to your girl, " the guide said.
"Motherf*cker... you dare speak that casually to the emperor?!" One of the soldiers that Alfred brought with him angrily lashed out.
"It’s fine. You guys shouldn’t worry too much. And besides, this is no longer the Luminiera Kingdom. We are in Darcero Kingdom and my status as the emperor should be hidden as much as possible so please don’t agitate the locals," Alfred said while apologizing to other people.
The guide grinned upon hearing that. "That’s good. Don’t cause drama alright? You guys might be big shots back from where you guys are but here in Carcero, your status ans nothing. Anyways, nice to et you all. We will soon prepare. Ready yourselves as this will be a long walk."
