Chapter 106: Fairy On A Cage

"So you had so problems last ti which is why you didn’t get to visit the farm for quite a while?"

"Not really problems but I ran out of stock for goods. All of my stuff that I peddled around had been purchased by soone the other day which is why I didn’t have anything to sell. And since I didn’t have any new goods to sell during those months, I didn’t bother to peddle around. Thankfully, I refilled my goods this month and now I am back to business," the Wandering rchant said, still with the cluttering sound inside the carriage.

Elaina could see that. Compared to the last ti the wandering rchant arrived, the goods he was carrying today vary to different things and even she was surprised at the various things that are currently available for purchase.

"So, how about it, Dear Custor? Are you going to sell, or are you going to buy my wares?"

Elaina paused for a bit and ntally calculated her remaining funds. They don’t have any urgent needs to buy stuff for the next few days and there are no big expenses that they need to carry out. Once she ships the dried fish and the cucumbers alongside the Hencluckle eggs, then she will earn more money. Not calculating the ergency money in case sothing unexpected happens, Elaina currently has 5,000 gold at her disposal that she is free to use.

"Let

see your wares first and we can talk about it if I find it interesting or affordable."

The rchant smiled eerily and even Elaina could tell that it seed to be already aware of what she was about to say or how much money she was willing to fork out.

"Based on your preference, I think you would like these selections of goods."

A portion of the carriage that the Wandering rchant is riding moves as it shows over and slowly transforms into a flat board that the vendor can use as a temporary display counter for his goods. In just a few seconds, all of the goods that he was trying to sell to Elaina appeared to her one by one.

Various items are present, from artifacts, items, and straight products like food and potions.

"You can ask

basically what kind of item you want but since you are not straight up saying you want sothing, I can tell that you wanted to browse and see what kind of item might be affordable and easy to buy, so my recomndations are these items. We have other items aside from the ones I am displaying so feel free to ask

to refresh the selections to a new one."

Contrary to Elaina’s expectations, it seems the Wandering rchant is fine with custors browsing the goods and Elaina is thankful that the rchant is like that. So rchants are just literally against window browsing for their goods when so people visit the shop so it is hard to find sothing without looking at the items specifically.

Elaina wanted to refresh at first but her eyes caught sight of the red ring sitting on the last side of the display. She didn’t know if she was just seeing things but she seed to see it glow and emit a little barrier glow around it before it faded.

"What is this?"

"Good eye, Dear Custor! That is one of my rare but cheap trinkets on sale right now. People call it the Ring of the Other You."

"Ring of the Other You?"

"Kind of weird, isn’t it? But basically, this ring is capable of using the ability of Substitute and the wearer will be able to use its power one ti before it breaks."

"In short, once its effect works, it loses its purpose?"

"Basically, yes. It will break to pieces once a fatal attack that is ant to kill you will land directly on you. Instead of you, dying, the ring will take the brunt of the damage, substituting itself for you and personally receiving the damage. Since the attack it takes will be a lethal one, it will automatically break the mont it does block one."

Elaina’s eyes sparked interest in the ring. Despite its weird na, the effect is great and useful in different ways that even she felt that this trinket might soday be sothing that would save her life.

"Just how much is this?"

"Because it was an old product and it seems no one is enticed by it other than you, I will give this to you for 500 gold. It’s a bargain price considering this is sothing that can potentially save you from death."

Elaina can tell that this is very cheap. She is not sure if the wandering rchant is ripping her off and is selling a bogus item but before she thinks that was the case, the rchant starts to make its usual laugh.

"Hihi...I know what you are thinking. You might think this is a bogus item, aren’t you? Hihihi...can’t bla you but I swear on my rchant license that I am not going to trick my custors. If I did, I would be losing custors as a result and will not get any kind of custors if I did so you can rest assured Dear Custor that the ring you are holding is a legitimate item with a legitimate effect."

Hearing that, Elaina sighed, "I will hold on to it for now. Can you refresh the selection again? I want to see more variety of your goods aside from this ring before I finalize my transaction."

"Most certainly!" the Wandering rchant smiled as a snap from his fingers inside the carriage could be heard and the selection in front of Elaina disappeared before a new set of items reappeared before her but this ti, it was a new selection without any connection to the previous items that were previously shown.

Elaina seed to find it lackluster compared to the first selection until her eyes landed on one of the products that was covered with a black cloth. She can feel so movents underneath it so she curiously approaches it.

"Do you want to remove the draped cloth over it, Dear Custor?" the Wandering rchant asked.

"Can I?"

"Yes indeed, but please be warned that if you don’t want to see any slavery-related items, then perhaps you should skip on this one."

"I am fine seeing things related to slavery but I do not condone or accept the treatnt like that. I abhor that kind of way."

"I see. Then perhaps you would abhor this new product but as always, this is a product in my shop and I have little to no power over it, so don’t attack

for anything related to it. I am just selling it and nothing more."

It seems the next item seems to be related to slavery. Still, Elaina wanted to see it. And so, she slowly removed the cloth draped over it and revealed the item it as a cage.

But what shocked Elaina was the content of the cage. Because inside it, is a mini figure that looks like a human is currently lying inside. The only thing that differentiates it from a human is that this one is very small for it to be a human, and it has tiny wings behind its back.

Even if Elaina is not that knowledgeable in terms of spiritual beings like the Fey, she knows what kind of creature was inside the cage.

"A fairy slave?! Isn’t this illegal?" Elaina frowned.

"Rember, Dear Custor. I am a seller of rare and exotic goods, as well as Taboo goods. That includes this Fairy Slave."

"Just how did you get this?" Elaina had her anger controlled. She doesn’t want to attack so innocent peddler out of intense anger due to just this.

"I got this from a broken carriage that I suspect to be a slave carriage. I checked on it and it seed to have been attacked by so external sources, perhaps soldiers. As for , I checked on it to see if there were so goods I could potentially sell, and in one of the corners of the broken carriage was the cage with the slave inside. I tried to free it since it was being caged but I didn’t expect it to be a cage that is currently sealed with a magic seal that only those slave rchants currently use. I don’t have this magic of removing those locks as I don’t deal with slaves but I don’t want to just leave this thing to die, so I brought it with ."

"So you decided to sell it instead?" Elaina frowned.

"I am a rchant after all. I am not a kind-hearted individual. I just chase through profit instead of charity."

"How much is it?" Elaina asked.

"For you, Dear Custor? This is going to cost you 4,000 gold."

"Deal. I will buy this one and the ring."

The Wandering rchant flashed a big smile on his face.

"Hihihi, a pleasure doing business, Dear Custor!"

As for Elaina, despite that she has no idea how to open it, perhaps soone from the gods or her companions can remove the locks and free the poor fairy inside the cage. She should purchase the cage with the fairy instead of soone else who might be a potential buyer of it and harm the life of the fairy instead.
