Chapter 63: Dwarves!

After deciding what I wanted to do here after deciding to start my new life, I asked if I could go to the forges right away to apply for a position there.

I was told that I could go anyti but Cythistia couldn’t accompany

for the next few days as she had lots of work to do regarding , as well as the humans. I was sad because she couldn’t accompany

and also nervous when she spoke about humans.

She told

not to worry and called for soone to go and take

to the forges. She told

to wait in her room and left to go do her work.

Soon, the servant ca over and knocked on the door, I gave them the okay to enter with a positive hum and a male wolf-kin in a black butler suit walked in. He had greyish white fur covering his whole body and a beast like head with a snout and two furry ears atop his head.

"Greetings milady." He greeted , his voice smooth and deep yet sohow rough as well. "I was told to escort you to the dwarves forges, is that correct?" He asked.

I nodded my head and he gestured for

to head out of the room. Seeing no reason to refuse I slithered out of the room and heard the sound of the door closing behind . I turned around to see the wolf-kin servant had closed it.

He turned back to

and said, "Please follow , I shall guide you to the dwarven workshops."

We then spent the next fourty five minutes or so travelling through the city and over to the worker’s district. When we entered the district, everyone was looking our way, more specifically at the wolf-kin butler, probably recognising his house of employnt due to the crest that was on his uniform.

When we reached one of the dwarven forges he knocked on the door. It took a couple of minutes before soone answered the door.

When the door opened, a short and slightly rotund man with thick muscles all over his body and a well kempt, short brown beard sported across his face. He wore a black apron that covered the rest of his clothes, as well as a tal helt that adorned his head that had two rectangular block shaped horns coming out of each side.

He seed sowhat displeased but when he saw the Velphine family crest on the butler’s chest his mood seed to brighten to a degree. "What can I do fer ya?" He asked calmly in a gruff voice.

"This young lady here would like to receive employnt under you. Oh, and please be aware that she cannot speak." The wolf butler replied.

"If she can’t speak, how does she communicate then?" The dwarf further inquired.

The wolf-kin butler just looked at

and gestured for

to demonstrate. Before I could though, the dwarf said this, "If ye speak through signs then we ain’t higherin ya, just so ye know."

I nodded, and simply conjured a simple ’Hello’ using my [Fire Runes] skill.

His eyes opened in mild shock at what I just did. "Hmm, interestin, though, I’m not sure why ye’d want a job here, runesmiths are over that way." He explained.

I shook my head and explained my reasons for wanting to co work here instead.

’I can use multiple types of fires, plus I wanted to learn forging. It will also be a great way to help

temper my strength and refine my skill with magic.’ I Answered.

"Hmm, show

these fires ye speak of." He asked.

I obliged and summoned a [Hell Fire], a [Lust Fla], a [Soul Fla] and my latest [Poisonous Fire].

"Quite the collection ye got there, I recognise the first one as [Hell Fire], the last one as [Poisonous Fire], the third I assu is [Soul Fla]?" I confird this by nodding. "Mmm, and as fer the pink one, no clue."

’[Lust Fla].’ I told him what it was.

"Hmm.." He squinted his eyes and ca a little closer to examine it. "Never heard of it, I’m sure we’ll co up with so sort of use fer it eventually though." He shrugged.

’So, do I get the job?’ I asked, excitent prevalent on my face.

"Hmm..." He threw his head back and scratched his beard in though, likely thinking about the pros and cons of

working here. "We don’t mind takin ye on. BUT! Ye won’t start forgin right away, yer gonna have te start small, mainly just helping out around the shop and supplyin that fire of yers."

My eyes bead in excitent, and I asked if I could start now.

"No."

Despair, or more rather, disappointnt, plastered my face.

"Don’t look at

like that, we’ll be closin in like an hour or two, wouldn’t make sense to have ye start when we close now would it? Sides, yer gonna need sothin to cover yerself up, it can get very ssy in there, not to ntion all the harm that could befall ya when yer in there not wearin anythin." He explained.

With that explanation my face recovered sowhat but I was still dissapointed. Either way, at least I have a job now.

I was about to leave when I rembered that I didn’t know when I should start.

’When should I co in?’

"Well, we usually start workin round the ninth hour of the mornin, but we normally co in bout an hour before to get everythin ready fer the day, so I’d say sowhere between the eigth and ninth hour of the mornin. Anyways, get on out of ’ere, I’ve got stuff to do."

And with that he slamd the door shut. I was a little shocked at the way he just ended the interaction so abrupbtly but I guess he’s busy with work. I soon heard shouting coming from inside, so I was probably right.

"Shall we head back then?" I heard the wolfkin butler ask. I nodded my head in response and we started to make out way back to the Velphine estate.

"Don’t worry about the clothes thing, I’ll sort that out for you once we get back." I heard the wolf-kin say.

"Mmm." I thanked him.

When we got back to the estate and entered the gates, I took a look at their front garden. I didn’t get a good look at it last ti as I was overwheld with the attention but now, I had so ti to actually get a good look at it.

Neatly trimd hedges lined the stone paved path that led towards the entrance of the manor. There were so small inlets along the hedges to let people out and take care of the rest of the garden which had many arrays of a myriad of flowers of different colours and sizes. I think they were in a specific pattern but I couldn’t quite tell, not from here anyways.

There were so vines growing up the side of the silvery timber wall of the manor, giving it so colour which helped it stand out a bit more from the rest of the buildings.

That was all I saw before we got back inside.

"Would you like

to lead you back to the mistresses room?" The butler asked.

I nodded and we went back to Cythistia’s room. He bid

a good day and went off to get those clothes he was talking about earlier.

Soti later Cythistia returned from her work.

"I’m back!" She announced.

I rushed over and gave her a big hug which she returned.

She giggled, "Fufu~ You seem happy, did you get the job you wanted?"

"Mhmm!" I confird, looking up at her with a big smile on my face.

She giggled again before she asked

if I would like dinner, which I of course said yes to.

She led

to a dining room which was smaller than the one we ate in earlier, and in it was her brother and her mother and father.

We all had dinner together and while I was shy towards her parents, I managed to open up a little bit and overall had a great ti.

Once we were done, we said goodbye to one another and all headed back to our rooms, I of course went back with Cythistia.

We shared a bath together before drying off and getting in to bed together. I snuggled up to her as she leant on her bedrest.

"Goodnight Traytora." She said sleepily.

"Mmm." I replied softly before going to sleep, ready to start the next day.
