Chapter 395: Burgers

"Not much. Honestly. I’m just curious, especially since you co in here out of nowhere with a Platinum ranked card and a group of non-adventurer’s and order food." He admitted plainly.

"People can co from other cities you know?" I comnted back dismissively.

"Is that the case for you?"

"Does it matter?"

"Maybe."

Before this little spat could go on any further and this man could bother

more than he already had, soone else said sothing amidst the silence that had been brewing around our discussion.

"Hey, isn’t that the girl who made that giant chunk of ice in the middle of the street from earlier this morning?" The one who asked that was a feline man with striped beige fur across his back.

And the mont he said that, it got others to start murmuring, spreading the events from earlier this morning, though a little exaggerated. Either way, the gist of it was the sa all round, people were generally impressed with the outco she created simple for her potential.

I wasn’t surprised by this. As I had said, this is a place for strong people to gather, no matter how tall that peak might be. If you had power that could be quantified to an impressive degree, they would respect that.

The guild always needs strong recruits, or even just recruits with imnse potential to beco stronger. Hence why the general ideology made people here respect power of any kind, so long as it wasn’t used for evil that is.

The burly Lamia man raised an eyebrow at this and stared at Asty with intrigue. This just made her self conscious of what she did.

"So do you have any reason to continue bothering us or are you done talking?"

"Huh? I’m not bothering you, I’m simply eyeing up all the fresh at."

Oh, I think I know what he wants now. He’s trying to rile us up and make himself look good. Welp, ti to make him look like an absolute fucking idiot.

In the blink of an eye my hand was around his neck and gripping it tightly. The Lamia man started to choke as he used his free hand to try and claw

off of him to no avail.

He was starting to struggle now as he started to suffocate, but he was still being resilient with isn’t surprising considering he’s likely been in much more deadly and life-threatening situations than this.

Nobody around us bothered to stop us, likely having seen this kind of thing before, either with this sa guy, or soone much like him.

Using his resilient nature, he hefted his axe up to bring it down on , which finally prompted those around us to get up and break up this scuffle before anyone really got hurt.

But before they could stop him, I had already lifted him up and tossed him to the side, making him fall to the ground.

He grunted and dropped his giant axe, making it clutter onto the floor and chipping it with its sharp edge. He got up and coughed lightly as he rubbed his neck and grabbing his axe.

*Cough* *Chough* "You got so real strength in that grip huh?"

I didn’t bother looking at him as I waved him away with these words, "There’s more where that ca from."

After that, we weren’t bother by him or anyone else, though we did get a couple of fellow Serpentine coming up to us to apologise for the encounter, including one of his fellow party mbers. They offered to pay for our als, but after hearing what I’d ordered, changed it to drinks instead, which we happily accepted.

Shortly after that we got our food, so we thanked everyone for their kindness and got to eating. And no one interrupted us in that ti thankfully.

As for what we actually had to eat, we had a small basket of salad and a dium basket of these ’fries’ as I’ve chosen to call them to be shared amongst us all. And they were quite nice, we picked at the fries with out hands and they were quite salty, but not unpleasantly salty sohow.

I also got each of us two different types of these ’burgers’ they were making. And there were several different types, so I got a wide variety for all of us.

Of the two I got, one was called ’The at Grinder’ with the main attraction being three circular beef slices from a wild cow-kin girl, since they are the only source of beef in this desert. Any monster beef just never holds up to them. It did have monster at, like shredded boar pork soaked in a thick gooey sauce, cockatrice at that was reminiscent of fowl-kin and roasted in so form of rich runny sauce. And finally, cheese. Lots of varying types of cheese slices.

Just looking at this one I could feel my stomach rumbling with a desire to eat this despite my actual need to consu food being practically non-existent after what happened in that spatial realm and how many monsters I ate.

Still, I grabbed the absolute behemoth tower of at stacked between just two bread buns and opened my jaws wide, since I knew that I couldn’t bite into it otherwise. I an it barely fit into my hands, how was I supposed fit it in my mouth otherwise?

Anyways, I lifted the burger into my mouth and bit into it and imdiately I felt torrents of juices get squelched out and spill down my chin, dripping down onto the wooden tray they were brought out on.

As for the at in my mouth... Oh. My. Goddess.

It was absolutely mind-blowingly delicious. Of course you had the base flavours of the ats, but combined with the way they were cooked, what they were cooked in and then finally dressed in, it was just... Just... I have no words.

I’d never tasted anything like this before. And judging by the faces on everyone else’s faces, neither had they. I think Asty was chowing down on, scratch that, she had already finished her first burger, which I thin was called ’The Rocker’ which had grilled monster at with several blends of seasonings on it which were all then slathered in various sauces.

Ash was having ’The Gut Pounder’ which was just an enormous slab of at with barely anything else on it. And Shirayaa was actually also having ’The at Grinder’. Huh, funny coincidence.

Still the looks on their faces as the flavours exploded in their mouths was just so soothing to see. That, and the flavours assaulting my mouth also made this an unforgettable mont.

And within just a couple of minutes, I had torn through the burger I held in my hands and was now licking my lips clean, and saw the last burger sat before

on the tray. But just before I could chow down on it, I noticed that everyone else around us, those not at our table, were looking at us with drooling envious looks.

It was pretty obvious as to what they envied, but I was confused as to why they were even envious in the first place.

"What, why is everyone looking at us like that?" The mont I said that, they all seed to realise they were staring and tried to make it look like they weren’t, when they so clearly were.

By now Asty had already finished her second burger while Ash and Shirayaa were in the middle of eating their second ones.

My second burger was just as packed as the last, that being ’The Simple Stacker’ which wasn’t too different from Ash’s first one, ’The Gut Pounder’ but instead of just being a huge stack of wet at, it had a sauce, cheese and so kind of vegetable between each of the four slices and the buns also.

It didn’t take

long to scarf that down also in just a few minutes. And as I did so, I thought to why everyone seed to be so envious.

’Is it because I’m a demon? Is my sinful nature evoking this? No, I don’t think that’s it, they want the food, but they could just go and buy it for themselves then, couldn’t they? Oh... OH! Right, It’s actually quite expensive, at five gold a burger. God, I really have no sense of money, do I? I need to get back into finance classes.’

After realising what the problem was, I felt better, maybe because I’d eaten, or maybe it was because the food was no longer there to tempt the rest of the Guild mbers.

Either way, that was soon far from the thing I was most concerned about now as I talked about the burgers with my friends for an hour after we all finished, snacking on the fries before we left the guild.

When we left however, we were t with sothing I was hoping we wouldn’t have to deal with. I shouldn’t have made my hopes so high.
