Chapter 385: Going Up, Literally and Emotionally

As my senses expanded, I was also able to see the terrain around

in greater detail. And what I saw wasn’t exactly pretty.

Plants were either burnt to ashes or currently burning into ashes, the ground was cracked and charred from so kind of wild energy. Huge mounds of earth were displaced from their original place and flung far away. So of them even partially lted.

Space itself also seed to be sowhat torn asunder, but as my senses that were primarily imbued with [Astromancy] passed over these spots, it seed to repair itself almost instantly.

As I spread my vision out further and further, I saw more destruction and devastation. I even saw a number of corpses here and there, and they didn’t look pretty either, nor did they look like a predator got to them.

They looked more like they had been brutally maid and mangled just for the hell of it.

But as I stretched my senses further and further, I began to notice, or rather feel sothing. All of this destruction, felt... Familiar sohow.

It wasn’t long before I realised that the destruction was caused by . I was the reason everything around

looked like a monster had gone on a wild rampage, destroying and killing anything and everything in its path.

’Did I... Did I do this?’

I looked on in disbelief, but the more I saw, the more I ca to realise that all of this was indeed my doing.

It wasn’t like I cared much for the destruction I’d caused, I couldn’t care less about the place and these monsters that inhabit it. It was more so the fact that I can cause it.

If this was what I did when I was this emotionally unstable and didn’t consciously cause total destruction, then I didn’t want to imagine what I might do if I went on a rampage where I actually caused such destruction intentionally.

And this revelation shook

to my core.

In my blind desire to get stronger, I did not think about the consequences of actually becoming stronger.

I always thought that it was just simply to beco stronger to protect those I don’t want to lose. But if becoming this strong is enough to cause this unconsciously, then what if this happens to soone that I care about?

’I don’t want to do that! I want to go back, and they might get worried for

if I don’t return, or even co looking for . But if I do return, I’m putting them in danger by simply being near them, or even just in the city!’

This realisation led

to start having a panic attack, almost sending

into a similar state of distress and making my surroundings worse than they were now.

Fortunately, I found so kind of spatial anchor point in space that would lead

out of here. Thankfully Eric taught

what an anchor point was and how to find one, otherwise I would’ve mistaken this for just a minor warp spot in space.

An anchor point is usually around fifty percent denser than normal space, which on its own might look like just an anomaly in space to those who don’t know what they’re looking for, but the key difference is the slight difference in their waves.

The waves and anchor point emit are slow and either pull inwards or push outwards in a calm rhythm. If it’s not an anchor point, then it will simply just spasm like a ball of water that’s being stretched and pulled and pushed by thousands of people. Chaotically basically.

I also felt no form of demonic push back of any kind, so it must be the right direction. Worst case scenario it just dumps

out sowhere else on this floor and I’ll have to spend even more ti on it.

Anyways, I teleported over to the anchor point so that I could then travel through it, hopefully up to the next level.

I reached out my hand and gently grasped the anchor point and focused my Mana through it to the other side. To the other anchor point.

It took a few seconds, but when I finally got my Mana through to the other side, I teleported through using the Mana stream I made as a tunnel link to the other side.

When I was on the other side, I noticed that this place was equally as fucked up as the floor below.

Trees snapped in half and burned, boulders crushed into dust and space distorting from cracks that seep out into so kind of dark void.

*Gulp*

Looking into that black void was extrely unnerving. So I stopped looking and imdiately started spreading my senses out to find the next anchor point, which also did

the favour of fixing up the distorted cracks.

And after a long while, I found two anchor points. I teleported to one and did the sa as before, but this ti, I felt sothing stopping .

Lucifer.

With that, I knew that this wasn’t the right anchor point and teleported over to the other one and did it again, this ti not feeling any resistance.

When I reached the other side, I was glad to see that this floor wasn’t completely annihilated like the previous two.

Sure, there were still holes in space leading to the void and the land torn asunder all over the place. But at least you could get an idea of what this place once looked like, or what kind of place it was supposed to be.

It looked to be so kind of barren rocky wasteland. Although I guess not much has changed in that regard. It’s just more perilous to travers now, what with all the molten and splintered rocks everywhere.

’Hang on... Is that... A broken mountain over there?’ The more I looked, the more I found it to be true.

My power gone wild had enough force to blow the top of a mountain off, where upon it then seemingly turned into a deadly projectile that then destroyed another chunk of the sa mountain, utterly obliterating the area with the sheer power from the shockwave after it landed.

I know that the destruction from that wasn’t actually caused by my power, and was more a result of what my power did, but if it could do that two layers away from , then what else could it do?

The possibilities were both imnsely frightening and also exciting. It could potentially harm the ones I cared about, but it could also be used to protect them from similar such dangers.

As I ca to that conclusion, I realised that this was a much bigger conundrum than I first though.

On the one hand, I want to protect my friends with my newfound power. On the other hand, I’m worried I might accidentally harm them with it.

’ARGH! What am I supposed to do? I want to protect them, but I don’t want to be the reason they get hurt! FUCK! How am I supposed to do this?’

As I was trying to figure out how to go about dealing with my new power, I was still searching for an exit out of here. And the next exit was sothing I wasn’t expecting.

Instead of being an anchor point like the last two, it was instead a set of stairs that were half covered in molten rock. No guesses needed as to why that was the case.

Either way, I teleported and groaned. The last thing I wanted to do today was to go up so stairs. And the worst part was that this set of stairs was only wide enough for one person at a ti! So inconsiderate.

I sighed and used my Mana to break the still warm molten rock off and tossed it aside so I could go through. I could’ve used my hands, but that would probably take longer, forcing

to break it apart bit by bit instead of all at once with magic.

Then I rembered, I didn’t have to use stairs anymore, I could just teleport all the way to the top! I just needed to see where I was going first.

After that realisation, it didn’t even take

a minute before I was at the other end of those stairs.

"Ha! Take that stairs! Fuck you!" I exclaid victoriously as I threw my fists up in the air before flipping the stairs off.

After taking so deep breaths and calming down a bit at my minor victory over stairs, which I would now never have problems with again, I continued to search for more ways up.

And as I did so, I started to ponder on how to deal with the issue I was fretting over earlier, and still technically am. I’m just handling it better now that I’ve stopped panicking about it.

’How am I supposed to deal with this? I can’t just make them stronger like I do, they can’t do that. Maybe I can supress myself? But how? How would I supress myself? Maybe I could forge sothing and then enchant it as well? Yeah, that seems like a good idea. I’ll do that then.’
