Chapter 307: Reunion?

The ice over my body wasn’t the only thing that started to lt, but the rest of the ice surrounding

also.

Feeling reinvigorated, I moved my hands over towards Asty, to lt the ice surrounding her.

That was when I noticed that I had set fire to her carpet. And her floor

"AH! SHIT! FUCK!"

I instantly scramble to put it out when I rembered that I could just control it, and forced it to disperse.

"Okay... I have to be careful and control this power to not burn anything else." I mused to myself out loud to process my thoughts.

Now I had to be careful, because I had no practice in controlling this level of power. I also decided to get rid of my [Astral Fla]’s because I felt that they were a bit too much for

to hand at this mont.

And when I looked down, I was proven right as the floor that I had been standing on had disappeared, showing

the earth beneath, which was now charred also thanks to said fire.

There was actually a lot of condensation pouring out of the room because of how much heat I was emitting, and any liquids that did form off of my body evaporated just seconds after they were ford from lting.

I hovered my hand, which was now only cover in [Fell Fire], over so Ice and it did indeed lt it.

’So my power really has increased. Perfect, just what I needed.’

Thankfully, I had gotten off of her bed before it could get set on fire also, so now it was just it a weird state of being mostly frozen, with a small patch of both wet and solid.

I shook my head and refocused my mind on getting Asty out of her current predicant by hovering my hand over the ice on her bed and lting it, and then instantly drying it off.

At one point, whilst testing how close I could hover my hand over her bed, I accidentally set fire to it once, which was enough for

to know that I could only hold it about twenty-five centitres away before it caught fire.

There was one slight problem with this though.

Asty was in the middle of her bed, and I couldn’t properly reach her like this from here. I could get close and lt the surface of it off, but it would just imdiately freeze over again.

"Oh, wait..." I don’t have to lean over and do this, I could just create so floating whisps of fire and move them to do this for .

Which is exactly what I did next.

I summoned three whisps of flas and commanded them ntally to move over Asty’s frozen body and slowly lower themselves to lt the ice covering her.

They were around twenty centitres away from her but she was still frozen solid like a rock.

The ice surrounding her on her bed was lting fine enough, but the actual ice that encapsulated her wasn’t.

I kept on lowering it a single centitre at a ti until it was only ten centitres away and it was only barely lting at this point.

Lowering it any further would only risk accidentally setting Asty on fire. Hell, I’m already taking a risk here with ten centitres.

But it did seem to actually be working, with the ice being unable to recover as fast as before, so I would just have to keep this up for a while.

I’m going to say around half an hour had passed since I started actually lting the ice that encapsulated Asty when suddenly I heard a familiar voice screaming outside of the room.

"What in the na of the Goddess is happening here?!" It was the voice of the Duchess.

’Great... I said that as a passing remark in my rage and now she really is here...’ My mood plumted upon knowing she was here.

I didn’t like being near her. She had always been a rather weird person in my opinion. And being near her always led to extrely weird outcos.

Still, she was the Duchess of the city and also the technical owner of this very building. So there wasn’t anything I could do to stay away from her now.

Besides, I wasn’t far off from finally thawing Asty out of the ice, just another few minutes and she would finally be freed from the ice.

I could hear so talking going on outside before Ash called out to .

"Traytora?"

"Yeah?"

"How much longer are you going to take?"

"A few minutes or so, why?"

"Just checking. You’ve been in there for a while now."

"I know, I’ll be done soon."

After that, she didn’t call out to

anymore, allowing

to focus back on the task at hand, which was going quite well.

’Just a little more and you’ll be out of your cocoon. Then, you’ll be back with us.’

And indeed, the mont so of her skin started to show, most of the ice cracked, so I instantly dispelled the whisps and brought the power of the flas covering my tail to half of what they currently were. My upper body didn’t need them anymore.

The ice then all started to just lt naturally from the lingering heat alone, and I could see that Asty’s eyes were open.

Had she not closed them once since this happened? Or did she not get to close them as they froze over her eyes before she could?

Either way, I hope she’s fine, and that she isn’t blind now.

But as the ice disappeared, she showed no signs of being active, or even alive.

She’s... She’s not dead... Right? She shouldn’t be dead... Right? There’s no reason for her to be dead, right?

And just as I started to panic that she really had died, I saw her slowly blink.

*Sigh* "Oh thank goodness, I thought you were..."

I was about to welco her back, but then noticed that sothing was off about her. Or more rather the way she was acting.

She wasn’t looking at

at all, and she was giggling lightly with a rather creep smile on her face.

Slinking up to the side of the bed, I dispelled the fire covering

and leaned over the bed too look at her. "Asty?"

The mont I said her na, her eyes transford and began glowing with a sinister light.

She then started to lift herself up with a sinister aura condensing around her as she started to speak with a dual layer voice that consisted of her voice and sothing else’s.

"Hahahaha... Your friend is gone, and now I remain... This city will fall, and I will create an opening for my Master to co through the barrier..." The first voice was obviously Asty’s, which gave

so hope that she might still be in there.

But the second voices was clearly sothing else. So kind of demon or evil spirit. I wasn’t sure what but it clearly had evil intentions.

"What are you? And what have you done with Astryza?" I demanded answers as I got into a fighting stance.

"Hahahaha! Was that her na? Whatever, she’s gone now, and you have no hope of getting her out now. She’s buried deep in her own subconscious, so there’s no way you can get her back. As for ? You’ll be dead soon so there’s no reason to tell you."

"No..." My eyes shook and my body trembled as I registered those words.

"Hahaha! YES! That’s it! Suffer as my Master has suffered an eternity being sealed away! AHAHAHAHAHA!"

As he laughed, I lowered my head and tears began streaming out of my eyes.

I’ve lost people that are important to , like my mother and my father, even though I can talk to him, it still hurts not having him here.

And I know that I’ve lost more people besides them, I may not rember them, but if I didn’t lose them, then I wouldn’t have forgotten them, or had them sealed away with the rest of my mories.

I may not rember them well or even at all, but The feeling of losing more people was sothing I could never forget. It was a permanent scar on my mind.

And I didn’t want to lose another person, another friend... Another family...

So if there was any chance of Asty still being alive in there, then that was all I needed.

So I turned my head to look up at Asty, or more specifically, the thing that was possession her.

I’d already exorcised a curse out of existence, how hard could this be?

"Ho? You think you stand a chance against ? Do you not realise that only the Gods themselves have power over ?!" The demon got up and towered over

on the bed and raised its arms up in a grandiose manner, towering over .

That was when a voice from outside ca into the room.

"You are not a threat to this city, let alone the world. Tis have changed, and you are now weak. We don’t even have to do anything, for she alone will be enough"
