Chapter 274: Late Night Encounter

*Sigh*

I gave out a deep sigh and opened my eyes once more to see the moon cresting its peak for the night.

It shimred with a light blue hum as it hung up among the stars.

’This is nice.’ I thought as I took deep breath one last ti and got up.

This was a nice outing just to clear my head, but I should probably go back and get so real sleep.

...

’I wanna take the long way ho.’

With that decided, I was about to take out my map when I rembered I put them all in my bag, which I left back ho at the orphanage.

’Ah whatever. I’ll just stroll around in the direction of the orphanage until I reach it.’

Which led to

where I am now. Near the outskirts of the slums district and wandering around aimlessly whilst looking up at the sky.

The calm and quiet atmosphere, the beautiful and serene skylight and the ambience of the city at night was just amazing that I slowed down to just bask in my environnt a little more.

I also started to look a little more into the architecture itself since I’d never really done that before.

The streets were always full of people and such boisterous activity that it always drew your attention away from the beauty of the city itself.

The ground was cobbled together using a special mineral that absorbed the heat and dispersed it elsewhere sohow. I don’t know how, but it did. It’s apparently called Thermasandrite.

Lengthy na I know, but that’s what it’s called.

It’s also the na of the main material that the houses are build out of as well, giving the city a natural sandy beige look to it, being the sa colour as sand and all.

Not everything was made out of this stuff though. The roofing for nearly every building was a nice, slightly darkened shade of red tiles. They were made out of sothing called Heliosite, which I think contrasted very well with the Thermasandrite.

As far as I was aware, they used tal braces to hold most of it all in place, but so buildings had wooden logs poking out of them slightly.

And, while I do question the use of such a material all the way out here, I will admit that it’s a great addition the scenery.

So buildings tall, others not so much. Apart from a few exceptions, every building that wasn’t along the outer rim of the city was at least two stories tall. Each floor about four tres in height, making the average building about ten-ish tres or so. And the wood was only apparent on the second floor.

’It was nice doing this. Just wandering out in the city and admiring its architecture, but I should probably get back now. It’s getting late and I feel both, tired, and like I can actually fall asleep.’

As I started to make my way directly back to the orphanage using my general knowledge of this city, since I didn’t rember it perfectly, I felt like I was being followed after a little while.

That feeling soon grew as I felt several more eyes lock onto .

’Great... Just as I was feeling at peace and ready to go to bed...’ I thought in a disgruntled and annoyed tone, even though no one could hear.

I sighed and just went through a random alleyway since they would likely try to corner

in there.

And it turns out I was right. Out of nowhere, a bunch of thug looking bitches ca out the other side, and all of the people following behind

made themselves known.

"UUUGGHHHH..." I groaned as I threw my head back at the sheer number of people that I would have to deal with. I an beat up to get out of here.

"Well, well, well..." Oh god not this brat. Actually, I’m not surprised he’s trying sothing like this. This is in character for him.

"The fuck do you want you little shit?" I grumbled angrily as I turned around to face him.

"HEY! I will have you know that I’m the Duchess’ nephew you know? You’re going to pay for humiliating

like that! You won’t leave here the way you ca in." He said in a deaning tone in an attempt to threaten .

It didn’t work.

"Look, I’ll be honest. I’m not sorry for punching you, you one hundred percent deserved it. I am sorry because I don’t rember doing it. Genuinely, I do not rember doing it." I placed my hand on my upper chest to show my honesty.

"I don’t care! You’re going to pay either way. Girls!" He snapped his fingers and the large group of I’m going to say twenty girls? Started to rush straight at .

I sighed once more and prepared to engage.

Not.

The second they got close I put up a [Fire Wall] on both sides, each one being an entire tre thick and three tres tall. Not nearly enough to reach the wooden logs coming out the buildings, but still enough to prevent these bitches from getting to .

They tried to get over but I just hurled so fire at them to stop them from doing so.

When I arrived at the exit of the alley, I paused.

Either one of two things was going to happen. The first being they would try and jump

from the sides and the sa amount of people be there, which I think was about seven. The rest were currently behind .

Or, they’ll have moved so people round the front and try and swarm

with even more people.

Doesn’t matter which one they pick because I can just paralyse them with my gaze alone.

As for why I didn’t do that before, there were too many people coming at

to even try and I would’ve been sward by their numbers before I could paralyse them all.

But now that I only have to deal with them from one direction, it should be much easier to deal with.

I quickly reached the end of the tunnel and stopped, wondering how I should do this.

Should I just disperse the wall entirely here and now? Or should I push the wall out and let them slip in from the sides?

I think the latter will be easier since it ans I will have control.

And with that decided, that’s what I do. I push the huge, thick wall of fire forwards more, giving just enough for the bitches to slip between the wall of the building and the fire into the alley with .

And just like I was expecting, two people imdiately jumped at the chance to get in and attack .

Unfortunately for them, I just paralyse them with my gaze and they fall to the floor.

I thought more would co through but no, they all seed to hold their ground. Seeing that they were being cautious, I made the gap bigger, roughly enough space for two of them to co in from each side but still nothing.

Seeing that they weren’t going to make their move I just slithered forward and dispersed the giant wall of flas in front of

entirely, keeping the one behind

up to keep that brat out of this.

The mont the wall dispersed, I saw eight people here instead of the previous seven, aning that including the two I just dealt with, there were now ten people on this side.

And as soon as the fire was gone, they all instantly charged at

with weapons and spells in hand.

A lot of fire was hurled at

along with a bolt of lightning and a rock.

I leaned to the side, dodging the lightning bolt, and just after that, all the fire spells landed on

but caused no damage. Then, I punched the rock to pieces with just my fist.

The flas covering my body died down and dispersed, revealing my untouched body. Not even a bruise from punching that rock apart either.

And that seed to frighten them. Which is good, that’s what I want. I want them to run away and leave

alone.

Taking a look at my surroundings, I actually found myself on the road which the orphanage was situated upon.

’Huh, that’s lucky.’

Looking back at my assailants, they were all now wary of

as they could clearly see the two people who charged at

before now lying motionless on the ground.

I didn’t want to drag this out further than it needed to, so I just used my imnse speed to rush up to each of them and paralyse them with my gaze.

And in just a few seconds, I managed to paralyse every single one of them.

Which made

think back to my teacher’s statent. I think I really am overpowered.

And I think I’m okay with that.

If I get stronger, I get stronger. If I don’t, I don’t. It’s not the end of the world or anything regardless.

Either way, I started to head back to the orphanage, setting a ti limit on that last wall to last five minutes before it disperses.

I manage to get back to the orphanage at like two in the morning or sothing and go to bed.
