Chapter 128: Dire Circumstances

The large doors opened, granting

passageway into the hall. I could see all of the prominent figures of the Velphine family lining up along the path, all looking at

with different expressions.

So looked at

with disdain or scorn, so looked at

with intrigue or sympathy, and so looked worried for .

All these different expressions and emotions directed at

did not help with my nervousness.

I soon made my way to the centre of the room and bowed to the patriarch, Cythistia’s grandfather, Tobreos.

I then created a runic sentecne greeting him and asking why I was here.

’Greetings Patriarch. May I know why I was asked here?’ Normally I would’ve just greeted him casually, but not in this situation, where everyone, despite the way they were looking at , had a very serious deanour that perated the place.

"Do you confess to being demon spawn?" His voice reverberated throughout the hall.

I tensed up at the sudden and unexpected question. It was made worse as I don’t think I’ve ever told anyone about it. There just wasn’t ever a reason to tell anyone so it never ca up.

"Well?" He pushed

to answer the question.

’I am of demonic descent.’

There were gasps all around at this revelation, everyone whispering away their thoughts to one another.

"Thank you for your honesty Traytora. Know that you aren’t in any trouble, we just needed confirmation." Tobreos said, trying to give

so solace.

"Patriarch we need to get rid of her now!" So guy shouted.

"SHUT UP!" I heard Cythistia screech in anger.

"Calm yourselves." Tobreos ordered. "Now is not the ti to be arguing, nor be accusatory towards soone without cause. Look, her emotions are in turmoil no thanks to you. I did not ask for her to co here just so you could despise her, I brought her here to see if she could help with the issue at hand."

"What can she possibly accomplish?" The man who wanted to get rid of

complained.

"Because even if she is of demonic blood, that doesn’t an she is with them, there are several different pantheons, all with their own forms of afterlife, be it heaven or hell. And even then, there are several different factions in each hell, so even if they are from the sa hell, they most definitely aren’t from the sa faction, otherwise she would have helped them by now." Tobreos explained, trying to give

a lifeline.

"So? A demon’s a demon regardless of their infernal alignnt." The man argued.

*Sigh* Tobreos just sighed at the man’s stubbornness. "Arfos." He called out sternly.

"Yes?" The man nad Arfos responded, slightly nervous at the tone in which his na was called out by the Patriarch.

"Did you not listen to a word I just said?" Tobreos asked in a slightly aggressive tone. "She may be of demonic descent, but can you even see signs of that? She was clearly born in our realm, the mortal realm. Besides, not all demons are inherently evil or bloodthirsty like the ones plaguing the forest."

Afros, being an annoyance, asked, "Well what kind of demon is she?"

"Good question, Traytora, what kind of demon are you? And while we’re at it, what heritage do you have?" Tobreos asked kindly.

It took

a mont to reply but when I did, I told them, ’I am half succubus and I am the child of Asmodeus.’ I told them what kind of subspecies of demon I was as that wasn’t sothing too surprising. As for the second thing, I just wanted to get it out as soon as possible as holding that back might be more detrintal if revealed later.

It took a few seconds for the information to sink in, not my species but my heritage, and when it did sink in, they all exploded.

"WHAATT!!!" Everyone shouted simultaneously before delving into discussion.

"Silence!" Tobreos shouted, making everyone stop talking. "Traytora, are you being serious right now? Is Asmodeus, the incarnation of the sin of lust itself, your father?"

I nodded, reaffirming everyone’s suspicions.

"Hmm, this might change things..." He said, contemplating this newfound information.

And while he was deep in thought, I took a look around

and saw everyone whispering to one another, discussing this revelation. But Cythistia just had a look on her face that looked like she had just had an epiphany.

She then, in her state of enlightennt, absentmindedly blurted out, "No wonder sex feels otherworldly with her."

That made everyone stop and look at her in confusion, which pulled her out of her stupor.

"D-Did I say that out loud?" She asked as her face started to turn red.

"Yes, yes you did sister." Her brother answered.

She then started to squeal as she hid her face behind her hands.

"Ignoring that, Traytora." Tobreos called out to .

’Yes?’

"Would you be fine with helping us exterminating these demons?" He requested.

I looked down and contemplated my answer. For

it wasn’t a question of can I want to help, but do I want to help.

"Why are we wasting ti here? If you want her to help then just make her!" Afros shouted.

Tobreos just ignored him and continued waiting for

to answer him.

I thought back on everything related to this incident, everything from my encounter with them in the forest, to being the supposed prophesised one, to even the mural in the dungeon. Thinking back, all of it seems to be connected.

I took a deep breath and gave my answer.

’I do.’

Tobreos nodded, "Mmm, thank you for offering you strength in these dire circumstances."

I nodded back and he gestured for

to move to the side so I went over to Cythistia and snuggled in between her and her brother. Thankfully she was near the one end of the line so not many had to move, nor did they have to move that far.

"You never told

you were a succubus!" Cythistia whispered harshly at

as Tobreos continued the eting.

I just looked at her and shrugged, not knowing how I was supposed to respond to her without making it know that I was conversing with her.

"We’ll talk about this later." She told

before going back to listening to the eting.

The rest of the eting ended up not achieving anything as most of them just kept on bickering back and forth between two points, those points being attack now or wait and see.

When the eting was over a few of us were asked to stay, including .
