Chapter 118: Getting Ready
I think my exhaustion finally caught up with
as I was woken up quite late this morning by Ayuri, who had to literally drag
out.
"Ughhh..." I groaned as she ripped the sheets out from under .
"Mistress, I understand that you’re tired, but you have to get out of bed now or else you might not be able to extricate yourself later for miss Cythistia." Those words were enough to make
want to get out, but for so reason, I just couldn’t muster up the will to do so today.
I grumbled continuously as my maid did her best to rip the sheets off of , slowly pulling
along with them.
And eventually, she just pulled
right off along with the covers, making
fall to the floor, finally waking
up.
"I apologise for the rough wake up call, but it’s ti for breakfast and you need to get ready for your date."
I grumbled and reluctantly got up, rubbing my face.
I don’t know why I’m like this today, normally I’d be up by now, but for so reason I just feel so lethargic. Why? I’m normally really good at ti managent, even when tired.
Ayuri seed to share in my confusion as she asked with worry, "Is sothing the matter to cause you such issues?"
’I don’t know, I just woke up feeling like this.’ I answered.
"Hmm... The only thing I can think of that would cause this, is the Winter Advent." Ayuri suggested. "It’s possible that, as a desert serpent, your body would want to hibernate. At least, that’s just a theory of mine."
"Ugghhh..." I groaned once more, as if that truly was the case, then I’m either not waking up, or I’m not coming ho from work. Neither of those sounded good.
"Let
get you dressed for breakfast, then you can ask the Velphine’s for help." Ayuri suggested once more as she headed to my wardrobe to pick out so clothes.
While she did that, I slithered over to the window and looked outside, and was awestruck by what I saw.
A snowfall.
It drifted down from the sky onto the surface beneath it, creating a layer of pristine colourlessness that shone in the suns ray’s, giving it a natural sparkling glow that reflected in my eyes.
The streets were mostly empty as the festival would be happening in the evening, leaving the scene before
in perfect harmony as the snow fell.
"Mistress." Ayuri called out to .
I turned back to see her holding so slightly thicker clothes in hand and presenting them to . I took them out of her hands and found them to be heavier than normal. I look up at her with a questioning gaze.
"If you really are affected by the cold causing you to want to hibernate, then you should probably wear sothing warr, and even if that isn’t the case, it would be advised you wear this anyways.
"Nn." I put them on and could instantly feel the change, I felt so much better and so much warr.
But this made
have doubts about whether or not the robes I had custom made for the festival would be sufficient enough to keep
warm.
Unfortunately, there wasn’t anything I could do about it now, so I would just have to tough it out.
With the assistance of my maid, I finished getting dressed and headed to the dining room for breakfast, and just like last night, Cythistia’s family was there, but not Cythistia herself.
"You woke up rather late today didn’t you?" Lycerous noted.
’I might not be made for the cold.’ I responded.
"Hmm, you co from the desert, right?" He asked, to which I nodded.
"That’s probably why, you’re not used to such cold temperatures."
’Ayuri thought the sa,’
"Well, a nice hearty breakfast aught help warm you up." He said.
I began eating and responding to the many questions that everyone had about how I was going to spend my date. I just told them that I would let Cythistia take the lead this ti and that was that.
’Speaking of, where is she right now? I didn’t see her at all yesterday.’
Her brother answered with, "Oh she ca back late yesterday so she’s probably also going to be late waking up as well."
’I see.’
Not long after we finished breakfast and went our separate ways.
They all went off to do their own separate tasks, unlikely to participate in the festival as they’ve apparently gone several tis before.
As for , it was about ti to get ready to go out. I returned to my room with Ayuri in tow to put my robes on for today.
This would also be my first ti seeing the finished product as I never got a look yesterday, so I carefully took it out of the packaging and unfolded it.
The white base was as stunning as the snow outside, with the dark blue embroidery patterns representing a giant tree with so red lines wrapping around it in a twisting fashion.
It was intricately decorated with the blue and red occasionally sparkling in the light, bedazzling both Ayuri and I as we stared at the immaculate brocading that depicted every line in the bark and scales of the tree and the serpent, which seed to sowhat resemble ?
"It’s beautiful." I heard Ayuri mutter in astonishnt.
She was right, just describing it was difficult as there were too many things to say about it.
I shook my head and put it on, flicking my hair out from inside and tied the belt up in a butterfly fashion.
I turned to face Ayuri only to see that she was stun locked looking at .
It was clearly a beautiful garnt that would leave anyone stunned at its charm.
’Charm...’
No wonder she’s stun locked, my charm stat seems to be taking more effect now that I’m wearing this robe. I hope it doesn’t beco a problem.
I looked in the mirror to see my own beauty. I don’t want to feel too narcissistict but I truly was absolutely charming. I really hope this isn’t a problem.
I then took a deep breath and left the room to go and fetch Cythistia for our date.
After asking so of the servants, I ca to the room she was getting prepared in and nocked.
*Knock* *Knock*
"Who is it?" I heard Cythistia call out.
’Hmm... I can’t answer that...’ This was really awkward for .
"Hello? This better not be so sort of prank." She asked
*Knock* *Knock*
I knocked again, hoping that she or soone else would answer.
I heard a sigh before I heard her asking soone to co see who it is, and when the door opened, I saw a familiar face, Alisa.
My face twitched upon seeing her. As for Alisa, she had a shocked look on her before she closed the door.
Then I heard so talking and I think so panicking, and after a few minutes, Alisa ca out of the room.
"My mistress will be out in just a few more minutes so please bear with her for a while." After she told
that she promptly left.
And after a few minutes of waiting, Cythistia ca out.
