Lucas was enraged after Khaos threat, he lunged toward him, but before he could do anything, the alpha had slamd his back against the carriage, as it shook violently. There was a crack on the wall.

Khaos smirked to see him in pain. "Are you done trying?" he let him go and then sat down again, watching Lucas groaned in pain.

The man was not defenseless by any an, he wouldn't be able to be a reliable informant if he could be caught easily or he couldn't even fight, but it was simply because Khaos was too fast for him and he was too strong.

After all, Lucas was human and Khaos was a lycan, even a shifter feared a lycan's strength.

"What do you want?!" Lucas groaned, he was in so much pain, but he kept his attitude.

Khaos had a lot of questions to ask, along with a few tasks that he wanted to give to him. His informant didn't go to that route, where they would be able to find out a bounty or anything related to other businesses.

Their main focus was on to find information about the people that involved the event thirty years ago and tracked them down.

After all, information could be very subjective and this line of business was vast and complicated.

From what Ezra and the other elders' belief, the lycan dynasty wouldn't go down easily if there were a few moles within their people.

The fallen of the dynasty impacted not only the lycan, but their supporter too, as they were executed brutally. From what the witnesses said, on that faithful night, you wouldn't be able to sll anything but blood, even the moon had turned red. The water couldn't be used for a few days.

That was how bad the situation at that ti.

The anger and feud had run so deep and Khaos was the spearhead for their revenge. This was his duty and responsibility to his family, to his people.

However, Khaos needed to ask the very basic question first.

"What the relationship between you and Rhett? How did you know him?"

Zuri didn't think much about it when she told him about how he knew Lucas, which was through Rhett. If her brother knew soone like Lucas and was frequent in the black market, Khaos knew that man was not innocent.

No one had business in black market was innocent, especially if he planted his own informant there.

Lucas gritted his teeth when he heard that, which indicating Khaos's intuition was right about the fact there was sothing else about Rhett.

"I can't tell you."

"Even if I cut your brother to pieces?"

"Stop threatening with my brother!" Lucas growled, he was exasperated. "I can't tell you! Even if I wanted to tell you, I can't!"

"Why not?"

Lucas straightened his back and he groaned, he stuck out his tongue and there, Khaos could see it. A seal. He had made a pact with Rhett.

"I can't say anything about him," Lucas said after he saw Lucas had noticed the seal on him.

A seal. Why would a shifter, who didn't even want to be an alpha had to put a seal on an informant? It didn't look simple in Khaos's eyes.

anwhile, at the sa ti, Zuri led Silas to different spot, as she had sensed his presence. She then shifted into her human form, since she couldn't use her pack mindlink anymore ever since she had been marked by Xaden.

"What do you want?" Zuri asked, she looked at Silas coldly.

Silas's golden brown wolf approached her, but then he shifted back into his human form, realizing that he could no longer mindlink her.

"I know you are going to et with Rhett. I want to et with him too," Silas talked straight to the point. "I have been appointed to be the alpha of the pack by the king, you can't stop to see him."

Zuri shrugged her shoulders. "Basically, I didn't even stop you. You can go crying to the closed gates as much as you wanted. I have never told you to stop."

Silas growled at her. He bared his fangs. "Be polite, little sister. I am still your older brother. Have you forgotten what I can do to you?"

Zuri lifted her chin defiantly. She knew exactly which monts Silas was talking about. He was the one, who gave their father an idea to torture her with needles because he saw soone did it to their whore in the brothel. It wouldn't leave any mark and the prick would heal imdiately, but the pain would last.

Silas had pushed her from above the stairs when she was little, but he didn't dare to do that again when their father discovered that Zuri had talent in business, yet it didn't an Silas stopped.

"Really?" Zuri crossed her arms. She had seen fear and gone through so much in the last few months, Silas's threat ant nothing to her. "Touch and I will tell Khaos about this. Can you afford the alpha's wrath?" She was bluffing, she didn't think Khaos would do anything if

Silas hard her.

"Why would he care about you?"

"Because I will be his mate, the king has blessed our union. It will happen in winter." That

was actually true.

Silas rolled his eyes. "I don't care about that. I will be the alpha of this pack, you better

respect ."

"You don't even have anything to be respected for."

And Silas had enough, he was not going to be disrespected by this little girl. He shifted into his beast and charged forward, while Zuri did the sa. His beast was slightly larger than

Zuri's.

However, Zuri didn't even dodge him. Her blood rushed in her veins when she was in this situation. Sohow, she enjoyed the thrill, the tension. The killing intent...

She didn't see Silas as the predator, but she saw him as a prey. She was... excited.
