"You heard that?" Khaos asked casually, he sat down next to Zuri on the bed. This was the second ti he was the cause of that mortified look on her face.
Zuri frantically shook her head. She looked around the room, but the two n had gone. It was only her and Khaos inside his bedroom.
After her breakdown of seeing her own reflection on the mirror, she fell asleep and was woken up by their conversation. Overheard the information that she shouldn't. All of this felt like a dream. A lot of things happened in the span of a very short ti.
"I didn't hear anything." Zuri was trying to lie her way out, thinking Khaos might want to kill her to silence her, despite the fact it was his fault for not taking any precaution. He should know that she might wake up and listen to it.
Khaos caressed her cheek. "You can be a good liar soti, Zuri, but right now, it's not that ti."
The only reason why Ezra and Bryden were not able to sll her scent was because, she was reeked of his. He had been cuddling her as she cried to sleep. Zuri might not rember it, because she was extrely distraught and disoriented, but coupled with her body that was hidden under the blanket, her scent was covered completely.
Zuri gritted her teeth. She then pushed herself from the bed into sitting position and held Khaos's gaze.
"You are a lycan," she stated. There was no point of lying anymore when Khaos knew she had been listening to the conversation.
"Yes, I am."
It surprised her when she heard how easy he admitted that, but then she realized one thing; those people might not know about her was being there, but obviously Khaos knew and even when he learned she was awake, he didn't stop the conversation and let her to overhear it.
"Y-You..." Zuri stuttered a bit and a look of amusent crossed Khaos's grey eyes. "You did it on purpose." She knew she was right when she saw a smirk on his lips. "W- Why?"
Her mind was jumbled up when she tried to rember all of the information about lycan. There was not many, since the three kingdoms controlled the information about the lycan dynasty. The only information that the next generation knew was the fact the lycan's annihilation was necessary because they had beco too strong and cruel in their reign.
Lycan was the strongest shifter, but their number was not many, even back then.
With that reason, the three kingdoms joined hand to bring down the old dynasty, but ironically, the three of them were fighting against each other now to get pieces of the the old dynasty's wealth.
"We are going to enter a union, sooner or later, you will learn about this, since we will be in close proximity often." Khaos tilted his head. "You asked before whether or not I want the throne. I don't want the throne. I want those people, who have betrayed my family got the punishnt that they deserved. It's all about revenge, Zuri."
She heard that. She heard them talking about tracking down a certain people, the people, who were responsible for the fallen of the old dynasty.
"The elder from River Creek pack..." Zuri muttered. By now, she knew Khaos had killed two elders from her pack. "Were they..."
"Yes." Khaos studied her expression upon hearing that news. "If this is not clear for you, Zuri, you only have two options."
Zuri bit her lip. She knew what options that she had and what she would choose even before he ntioned it.
"Are you going to kill the king too?" If this was revenge and Khaos didn't really want the throne, what the end goal of it?
The people that he wanted to kill would be scattered in three kingdoms. It would be easy to reach Wolfdale kingdom, since there was an intermarriage between the two kingdoms, but Great Lunar kingdom would be a big deal.
"He is going to die once he has served his purpose." It was only a matter of ti.
Dacre was not involved in the tragedy thirty years ago, but he was a collateral. Especially now when he started to make a move against Khaos.
"Are you still obsessed with ?" He asked in teasing tone when the tension was too suffocating. He then fished out sothing from his pocket and handed it to her.
"What is it?" Zuri raised the small bottle. She sniffed it but there was no scent that ca from
it.
"Poison," Khaos replied lightly.
Zuri blinked her eyes when she heard that. A frown ford on her face. "Do you want to drink this?"
"I give you an easy option." Khaos leaned his back against the bed post. He crossed his arms and his tone turned serious. "During your breakdown, you said you wanted to kill yourself."
It was not a surprise for Zuri, since she used to think to kill herself every ti the voices in her head beca unbearable, thus it must have slipped from her lips during that ti.
"Don't you think it's cruel for you to tell to kill myself?" Zuri let out a dry laugh, but she didn't hand back the poison to Khaos.
"The poison is painless. You will feel sleepy and then died in your sleep." Khaos watched her expression. The words ca out so casual for this heavy topic.
"Have you tried it? How could you say that it's painless?"
Hearing that, Khaos laughed. "You are right. I don't know for sure whether it's painless or
not, unless I tried it. But, at least that's what they said when they gave it to ."
In a way, Khaos granted her her wish to stop the pain.
"I will leave you for tonight and collect my answer in the morning, either it's your loyalty to
or your dead body."
