Zuri didn't know what she expected to see here, but then her eyes fell on the man, who was hanging from a tree with a piece of wood as his foothold. She imdiately understood this was a scene that she shouldn't have seen.

She was still in her beast form. At first, they didn't realize that Zuri was there, because her beast was black. It helped her rge with the darkness so well. But the mont they realized their alpha's attention was distracted and they followed his line of sight, the six of them shifted into their beasts imdiately.

Out of instinct, the black beast dashed away from there, she ran as fast as her paws could take her. All of her senses told her that she was in great danger. And if she didn't manage to get away from this situation, she was going to die.

This was a different feeling from when Zuri tempted death by provoking her father. If her father wanted to kill her, he would make it quick, because he would be too angry to drag out the torture, but it was different with these shifters. She didn't know what they were going to do to her.

The woods were so dark as the moonlight couldn't penetrate the thick foliage, while the ground was cold and slippery.

Zuri kept running, but she could still feel them. They were so close!

And one of them jumped on her back, slamd her to the ground and bit her hindleg. The scorching pain shot through her body forced her to shift back into her human form. Her dress was completely dirty now.

"What do you want?!" Zuri roared at them. "I will not say anything, so just let go!"

She stood up and attempted to leave, even though she knew she couldn't go anywhere without their permission.

One of the beasts leaped in front of her. She couldn't see clearly and wasn't sure about its fur color, but as a warrior, she knew that this beast was obviously bigger and fiercer than hers.

The beast then shifted back into his human form and Zuri recognized him. He was Gayle. She t him a few tis when she visited Lumicen city with Khaos. He was also the one who brought the white wolf cub to the Blackthorne pack house for her.

"What do you want?! I will not say anything, now step back!"

"Please, co with , Luna Zuri."

"No. I will go back to the palace and I will not tell a single soul about what I just saw. Now, move!" Zuri took a step aside, but Gayle blocked her again. "What is it? Do you want to drag back and kill because I have seen sothing that I shouldn't have?"

Gayle didn't budge, he didn't even look scared to face Zuri's anger. "That's for the Alpha to decide." They were instructed to capture her alive and not to harm her.

"Your alpha owes ." Zuri reminded him about that.

"In that case, please co with ."

Zuri looked around, it was dark, but she could spot two beasts lurking behind the trees and felt the rest of them quickly surrounding her. She had no chance to escape, let alone overpower battle hardened warriors like Gayle and the others.

Her best chance was to talk with Khaos. She would remind him about his debt.

Without saying a word, Zuri turned around and traced back to the clearing, where Khaos had been waiting for her and that man was still hanging from the tree with a piece of wood serving as the harsh line between life and death.

But this ti, Zuri spotted Caiden too. The gamma was nothing like his usual self. He was quiet and his expression was unreadable. Soon, her eyes t with Khaos' gray ones again. She couldn't fathom what was in his mind and for a mont, they just stared at each other.

The hanging man kept making muffled noises behind his gag.

"It's so bold of you to kill soone in the King's yard. Does he know about this?" Zuri expected him to lie, but he didn't.

"No. He doesn't."

"What are you going to do now?" Zuri glanced at the man again and then her surroundings. All the warriors had shifted into their beasts and hid in the shadows of the trees, aside from Khaos and Caiden.

She knew if she made just one wrong move, with just one word from Khaos, they would attack her. Right now, those gray eyes only stared at her intensely, as if he was considering her

question.

"You are in the wrong place at the wrong ti," he said.

"Bla your wolf for that. I am here because he guided here."

Khaos chuckled when he heard that. Even at tis like this, Zuri hated to admit that she liked

to hear his voice.

Once again, Zuri looked at the man, but this ti, the wind scattered the dark clouds, allowing the moonlight to finally illuminate her surroundings and she almost took a step back

in realization.

Zuri recognized the man.

"Elder Erik?" Zuri furrowed her brows. The elder must have recognized her from the beginning, that was why he had been making noises. He was asking for her help.

She knew Elder Erik managed Aryandel city in the River Creek pack's territory. She t with him on a few occasions.

Khaos tilted his head. His eyes were observant. "You are going to witness a murder, what are you going to do about that?"

"Are you going to kill him?" Zuri shifted her attention back to Khaos. She was not even

surprised when he admitted it easily.

"Yes," he replied without hesitation.

"So, you are going to kill because I will beco a witness to his murder?"

Khaos didn't answer that question and Caiden didn't say anything.

At this point, there was no way out for Zuri, except one... she went to kick the piece of wood,

which caused Elder Erik to lose his only 'lifeline'.

"Now, you are the witness," she said, facing Khaos.

"Shit!" Caiden muttered under his breath.
