Hearing Samuel’s question, Celt glanced at Sereia, who was clinging to him, gently stroking her while replying: “She doesn’t seem too keen on
leaving right now. If I were to step away for a bit, she might get a little anxious.”
He could “read” the unease from the faint spiritual fluctuations she transmitted—that hypersensitivity born from separation from her group and imprisonnt. Leaving her to face a strange environnt alone, even for a short trip to buy necessities, would probably terrify her.
As for taking Sereia out with him, Samuel could manage it, but Celt had no psychological invisibility and wasn’t about to parade an extraordinary creature down the streets for all to see.
He still needed to infiltrate the Royal District and had to keep a low profile for now.
Celt quickly offered an alternative: “Isn’t that a small town you’re in? Go check the market for live fish, then send it over with the Travel Guide.”
“Hmm… That could work?” Samuel thought for a mont. “I’ll head downstairs later and see if there’s a shop selling live fish around here.”
“Alright, if you really can’t find one, just grab a bird and send it over. She shouldn’t be picky—as long as it’s alive and its soul is intact.”
For extraordinary beings like the Nether-Floating Jellyfish, which survived by devouring soul energy, the physical form of the prey didn’t seem crucial. What mattered was fresh, complete life force.
It was even hard to say whether they had taste buds at all.
“Got it.” Samuel agreed concisely.
Just as Celt was about to end the communication, a sudden flash of inspiration hit Samuel, and he asked a question.
“Hey, what if…”
…………
anwhile, elsewhere.
Liant Town, second floor of the inn.
Falson lay half-sprawled across the bed in an awkward position, letting out a faint groan. He slowly moved the arm that had been pressed against his face, opened his bleary eyes, and sat up.
He struggled upright, leaning sideways against the cold wooden headboard, and yawned. Then he turned his head to glance at the window—it was already midday.
A twitch tugged at the corner of his mouth as a smile spread across his face.
Exhausted as he was, he was actually thrilled.
He’d finally gained an extraordinary ability. It wasn’t strong, but it made him genuinely happy.
If he hadn’t passed out from sheer fatigue, he probably wouldn’t have been able to sleep at all.
“Is Mr. Samuel still not up?” he muttered in a slightly hoarse voice, leaning forward.
The reason he’d slept all the way until noon was that he’d spent the whole night trying to inscribe a Law Mark, his brain battered by the effort, only dozing off toward dawn.
And now, Samuel’s side was equally quiet.
Once the initial excitent faded, worry began to creep in.
Falson subconsciously tilted his head, straining to hear any sound from the next room. Samuel’s room remained completely silent—no sounds of getting up, washing up, or any activity.
“System, can you see what’s going on next door?” Falson asked.
“Hmm… Why don’t you just go check?” the System replied, its tone a little odd.
“Alright.”
Falson nodded, climbed off the uncomfortable bed, stretched his stiff body, pushed open the door, and stepped into the hallway. He walked to Samuel’s door.
The door next door was closed. He raised his hand and lightly knocked three tis with his knuckles against the rough wood.
Knock, knock, knock.
No response from inside.
“The door’s unlocked. Just go in,” the System prompted.
“Just…” Falson gripped the door handle, hesitated for a mont, then pushed the door open.
And then, he saw Samuel sitting on the bed, chin resting on his hand, the index and middle fingers of his left hand propping up the corners of his mouth. His unfocused eyes stared straight ahead, as if lost in thought.
[Question: What is a guy usually doing when he doesn’t reply to a ssage?]
[Option A: Sleeping. He hasn’t woken up yet.]
[Option B: Hanging out, trying to hit on pretty girls.]
[Option C: Eating, completely focused, didn’t notice the ssage.]
[Option D: Arguing and using The Lunatic’s World Travel Guide’s super-powered computational and deduction abilities to figure out who would win in a century-spanning bumper-car battle of a hundred Hawkings versus fifty Iron-Stevens?]
Right now, Celt and Samuel were locked in a heated debate inside their minds.
At the sa ti, the part of Samuel’s split consciousness that he’d placed inside Falson’s mind helpfully synced the internal communication straight into Falson’s head.
“Obviously, Iron-Stevens would win. Iron-Stevens still has both hands free to grab a weapon,” Celt argued. “This is an equipnt battle—two extra item slots, how the hell is Hawking supposed to win?”
“But Hawking’s wheelchair is electric. He can use a Hawking Charge. Iron-Stevens has to hand-crank,” Samuel countered with certainty. “Hawking’s impact force beats Iron-Stevens’.”
“Oh, so you’re saying Iron-Stevens can’t just switch to an electric wheelchair?” Celt shot back imdiately.
“Of course he can’t switch to an electric wheelchair,” Samuel said matter-of-factly. “Iron-Stevens needs to play soccer. You can’t bring electronics onto the field.”
“Ever seen Jujutsu Kaisen? This is a heavenly restriction. As the price for having the ability to play soccer, he can’t switch to an electric wheelchair.”
Celt imdiately refused to acknowledge that.
“No problem. Hawking’s wheelchair has a speed limit. Iron-Stevens can summon Yu-Hua to push his wheelchair for him.”
“Summoning style, huh? Then don’t bla
for playing dirty. You summon one Yu-Hua, one Mo-Yan, and maybe a soccer ball at most. Hawking can summon an entire island full of lolis.” Samuel countered instantly.
“Summoning them doesn’t help. When you summon them, you have to pay for them,” Celt said. “What if Hawking goes to the island just to beco one of the lolis?”
“Not necessary,” Samuel imdiately insisted there was no need to pay. “Because I can just summon Epstein directly.”
As a trader, Samuel had his own set of logical rules.
“Then can Epstein chain-summon?”
“And then chain-summon the entire Pedo Island.”
“Plus a full set of other cards, like Mars Tech Guy Musk, Plague Warrior Bill Gates, Global Logistics Master Dubai Owner, and so on.”
“Damn, this is turning into na-dropping.”
“Super-powered deck with no summoning requirents. The only core card is Epstein.”
“Draw him and you’re instantly screwed.”
“I’ve got a hundred Hawkings drawing cards. What are the odds I can’t pull one card?”
But Celt quickly spotted a flaw.
“Your hundred Hawkings drawing cards—that’s going to burn through a lot of resources, isn’t it?”
“And if you run out of money, won’t the execution threshold trigger and wipe them all out?”
“Huh? That actually sounds like a real problem.”
“Let’s run a simulation then.”
“Let’s simulate it.”
“Uh… who are Hawking and Iron-Stevens?” Falson asked the System in confusion.
“They’re two great knights,” Samuel’s impersonation of the System replied.
“Oh…”
