"So that's how it is..." Samuel nodded in realization.
Since becoming a Law Seeker, he had never once ditated, so he didn't know that Law Marks could actually change.
Wait, if it's three days...
Thinking of this, Samuel suddenly thought of sothing.
He "stiffened his body," and the fingers resting on the table twitched almost imperceptibly.
"Three days..."
The strange man chuckled. "So, the validity period being three days ans you almost drew the Law Mark on the spot."
"The commotion you caused earlier wasn't small. I noticed you didn't seem to have any companions around. In that case, it's already possible to deduce which Law you, the Law Seeker, walk."
"So, you've been exposed. Mister Stargazer."
Samuel "put on a brave face," his left index finger unconsciously tapped the table twice, the corner of his mouth trembled slightly as it lifted, the movent small, as he seemingly suppressed a deep breath.
"Haha," he let out a dry laugh, his voice carrying a barely contained nervousness. "This... I didn't expect to reveal so much information."
His body was sowhat tense, appearing uneasy about having exposed his own information.
"Heh." The strange man laughed once. "Didn't you say we were friends? Don't worry, I won't tell."
"The attendants here also have sufficiently guaranteed credibility."
The strange man didn't waste any more words. He pulled out a bulging money pouch made of thick, waterproof oilcloth from inside his dusty robe.
anwhile, Samuel directly opened his book in front of both of them and took out a gray, flip-top trash can from within.
"This is my product. Next, I'll trouble this gentleman to help appraise it again." Samuel turned to look at the attendant not far away.
The attendant nodded, accepted the trash can Samuel handed over with both hands, and proceeded with the appraisal.
In the trading room, the light from the kerosene lamp fell on the three of them, stretching and distorting their shadows.
Because the lamp was placed in the middle, the three shadows pointed in three different directions. One against the wall, one against the door, one in the corner.
After a simple appraisal, the goods and paynt were exchanged.
The transaction concluded quickly, without overly cumberso procedures, and no need to pay a handling fee for this gathering.
The assembly seed to rely act as a venue; it was unclear how they made money.
"Friend, since you already know my secret and have leverage to threaten
with, why don't we deepen our relationship a bit more." Samuel smiled and extended a hand. "My na is Samuel Gavris. Can you tell
your na?"
The strange man hesitated for a mont but still shook his head. "You... call
Old Stone."
"Alright, it seems I still haven't earned your trust." Samuel shook his head helplessly. "After all, I'm just a weak Stargazer."
Old Stone didn't say anything more. Leaning on the finger disguised as a walking stick, hunched over, he walked step by step towards the door.
"Sir, please be aware, you still have one more transaction. We will bring the next seller to this room shortly." The attendant softly stopped Samuel, who had just thought about getting up.
"Oh, really? Quite considerate." Samuel's motion to rise halted, and he sat back down in the chair, comnting with a smile.
Another transaction? What was it? The map or the jellyfish?
The brass handle turned, and the door was pulled open. A person stood outside.
But it wasn't an attendant. It was a black-robed figure with a face wrap.
She wore a black cloak, and underneath was a robe of the sa color but darker.
The cloak's hood covered half her face, and below the cloak, a face wrap completely enveloped her features.
She wore a darker black robe, very simple, without any patterns. Further down, only the two calves clad in leather boots protruding from beneath the robe were visible.
This was the person who had been staring at Samuel in the hall earlier.
When she was sitting in the chair earlier, her body leaned forward slightly, letting the cloak block the curves in front. Combined with Samuel's nearly 100 years of disenchantnt with won, he hadn't noticed at all that the other party was actually female.
It wasn't until he saw her standing now that he finally noticed the curves rising on her chest.
However, that wasn't important. What mattered was, he hadn't paid much attention before, but now standing up, he realized this black-robed person was really tall, looking over two ters. Facing the hunched-over Old Stone, she needed to look down to et his gaze.
"Uh..." Samuel compared his own height, rembering the height he had set for this body, roughly around 1.85 ters.
He was about one and a half heads shorter than the black-robed person.
"Are female Law Seekers in this world this tall?" Samuel murmured to himself.
He had designed it based on a standard pilot's height.
But now, looking at it, he seed to have beco a loli.
Outside the door, the black-robed person's right hand hung extrely naturally at her side. The other gloved hand was currently extended towards the inside of the door, towards Old Stone who had just opened it, palm up, seemingly asking for sothing.
Old Stone frowned, looking at the black-robed person in front of him, not understanding what she wanted to do.
Robbery? Shouldn't be.
He moved his eyes, letting his gaze go around the black-robed person to the hall behind her.
The hall inside appeared sowhat dim.
The fireplace was extinguished, and no kerosene lamps were lit. The entire hall was empty, without a single person.
The floor was clean, though, unlike everyone having left; it seed more like no one had ever co at all.
A sense of foreboding shot up into Old Stone's heart, making his heartbeat suddenly skip a beat.
The attendant in the room saw this scene and couldn't help but frown as well.
He spoke to the black-robed person in a calm but serious tone. "Madam, please follow the guidance of other attendants..."
His words were cut off.
His vision rapidly rotated 180 degrees, seeing a black-robed person pressed tightly against his face.
The shadow cast behind him by the kerosene lamp had, at so unknown ti, detached from the wall, twisted and transford into another black-robed person, standing right behind him.
Thump.
Not far away, Samuel simply watched as this corpse, whose head had been rotated 180 degrees, fell in a direction he now didn't know whether to call forward or backward, the back of its skull hitting the ground heavily.
"Oh dear," Samuel blinked, his hand propped on the table as he looked back. "So, does that an there's probably one behind
too?"
Just as he turned his head to the right to look back, a hand reached over from the left, covering his mouth and pressing him down simultaneously.
He was yanked from the chair, the middle of his spine pressed against a leg, putting him in a state about to be folded in half.
"Huh? A lap pillow too?" Samuel's sowhat muffled voice ca from under the hand covering his mouth.
Thrust!
A dagger flashing with cold light pierced downward through Samuel's heart.
This knife also seed to be an extraordinary item.
After stabbing into Samuel's heart, an icy chill imdiately shot through his entire body, as if even his bones were about to freeze.
The next second, a strange force exploded at Samuel's heart, instantly shattering it.
Uh... Should I tell her my heart isn't actually a fatal point?
Samuel looked into those calm black eyes revealed beneath the black hood.
Just as the Travel Guide said, Samuel maintaining a human form now was probably so kind of hobby.
If he wanted, he could actually be a furry too.
Like a half-dragon, half-demon that could use the power of the twelve talismans or sothing.
After thinking about it, Samuel still chose not to say anything.
He actively complied with the knife's ability, creating the illusion of his body losing consciousness: breathing stopped, eyes becoming vacant, body stiffening, body temperature rapidly dropping, face turning pale, frost crawling onto his face.
The black-robed person rose from her half-squatting posture. The leg originally used to support Samuel with her knee straightened, and Samuel rolled off her leg, falling to the ground.
He lay face down on the ground, motionless, pretending he had died violently, becoming a cold corpse.
Ah~ Sister, I fell down.
All of this happened too fast, from start to finish probably taking no more than a second.
The two black-robed persons who had just moved flickered and lted into two puffs of black smoke in the air.
anwhile, the originally empty-handed black-robed person now held a reverse-gripped dagger in her lowered right hand.
Those two black-robed persons from just now were actually both just her clones.
At the sa ti the dagger appeared in the black-robed person's hand, Old Stone also reacted.
He no longer pretended to be an old man. Instead, he straightened up, using his left ring finger, as long as a walking stick, to support the ground. Using the bone staff as a pivot, he forcefully spun around once.
His slightly worn black robe exploded with a *poof*. A long tail, sowhat resembling a carp's tail but covered in scales, bone spikes, and stalactite-like gray-black substances, swept out from behind him. Accompanied by the spin, it whipped towards the black-robed person in front of him.
In the instant he turned and spun, he saw the two corpses on the ground.
A trace of guilt flashed in his eyes.
Although he didn't know why the black-robed woman in front of him had co for him, it seed currently that he was the only one who hadn't been dealt a fatal blow.
Therefore, he blad the deaths of the two on himself.
He had only wanted to try his luck, to see if he could find a Law Mark of the [Pure] Law to improve his sister's body, so his sister wouldn't grow up as ugly as him.
Yet, he ended up causing the deaths of two innocent people.
Just calling each other friends once led to this newly acquainted, seemingly nice Stargazer eting an untily death.
Indeed... they, called the "People of Calamity," were the source of all tragedy.
But self-bla aside, his movents didn't stop.
His rotational speed was fast. The tail covered in spikes and scales whipped against the black-robed person's body.
But the black-robed person rely raised her dagger and flicked it upward.
Clang!
A heavy collision sound rang out, sparks flying.
The slender dagger and the heavy tail collided, and it was actually the tail that was sent flying.
The black-robed woman planted her right foot on the ground, raised her long left leg, and fiercely kicked forward.
The left leg clad in a long black boot kicked Old Stone in the stomach, sending him flying backward, overturning tables and chairs before crashing into the wall.
His robe had already exploded open, causing the free-issue face wrap wrapped underneath to co loose, and the face hidden so ticulously was also revealed.
It was a sowhat ferocious, twisted face full of bulging blood vessels and sharp fangs.
The most prominent feature was his left eye. It was a blooming flower, each petal inside having sharp teeth, and his eyeball was at the center of the pistil.
His hair was tangled in clumps of dozens of strands, bundled into slightly thicker braids that writhed like snakes.
He was kicked flying, crashing into the wall, but he didn't suffer particularly great damage, at least not enough to lose mobility from it.
At the sa ti the foot kicked his stomach, his stomach suddenly bulged high like a frog's.
That leg had only kicked a balloon; he was bounced away.
Having crashed into the wall, he curled up on the ground, presenting his back to the black-robed woman in front of him.
This, of course, wasn't surrender or backing down.
The stalactite-like spikes on his back were shot out, stabbing towards the black-robed woman.
Simultaneously, while his face was buried against the ground, several braids detached from the top of his head. Their fronts split open, growing gaping teeth, and they slithered like snakes towards the black-robed woman.
He was very clear he couldn't beat that woman over there.
He was rely a asly three-mark Law Seeker, while the strength the other party displayed was clearly far above his.
So he wanted to buy ti, waiting for the true master of this place, Mister Pride, to notice the anomaly in this room.
Watching the flying needle-spikes, the black-robed woman didn't dodge or evade.
Swoosh...
Faintly, the sound of ocean waves could be heard.
Her body beca hazy, as if turning into black mist. The needle-spikes passed straight through her, embedding into the wall behind.
One second later, this black mist form dissolved.
Three snake-like braids shot up from the ground, biting towards the black-robed woman's body, but she easily cut them down one by one with her dagger.
Each snake-like braid she severed would emit intense cold air mid-air, and by the ti they fell to the ground, they were completely frozen stiff.
The black-robed woman also saw through Old Stone's intention to stall for ti, but she wasn't stupid and didn't plan to comply with the other's wishes.
Thump!
Old Stone was lifted from the ground.
The black-robed woman disappeared from her spot, erging from beneath his shadow, and delivered a fierce punch to his abdon.
This sent him crashing into the ceiling before he even had ti to puff up his stomach.
Old Stone lost his grip, his right hand loosening. The Trashcan Brand Treasure Chest he held in his right hand subconsciously fell, caught by the black-robed woman.
The black-robed woman didn't look at Old Stone anymore. Instead, she lowered her head to look at the trash can in her hand.
For so reason, despite her decisive actions, she didn't directly kill Old Stone.
Her black boots lightly tapped the ground, and the black-robed woman turned to leave.
Swoosh...
The faint sound of flowing water was heard again. Her figure rged into the shadow in the corner of the wall and disappeared.
