Later that day, around two hours, Susan, Nancy and Ma Susan ca to Calista’s house. When they arrived, Calista was already changed and checking one last ti whether all the ingredients had been taken out.
She didn’t want to send anyone to her ho later.
Ma Susan was going to remain behind while Calista, Susan and Nancy were heading to the restaurant.
The restaurant was going to open around 3-4 pm since she planned to cater for dinner as well. So, there was no rush. However, to make sure that all the food to cater for hundreds of people was cooked, the job had to be started very early.
Which was why she was going to the restaurant in the morning. It was going to be a long day.
All the cooked and unprepared ingredients were taken to the restaurant and the cooking started.
Calista had the hired ladies prepare other ingredients while she, Susan, and Naomi manned the kitchen.
There were four cauldrons in the kitchen and the two were going to be used to cook rice and samp (crushed corn) as staples.
While those cooked, Calista led the two in preparing the pork stew using the stork from the pork yesterday. anwhile, the other cauldron was used to prepare vegetables and soup.
The sweet potatoes and pumpkins were all pounded and turned into mash, which was a tireso job.
When they were in the middle of cooking, a passing carriage suddenly halted in front of the busy restaurant, making the ladies who were in the middle of pounding tilt their heads, wondering what this carriage was doing.
While they were pondering over that, the coachman alighted from the carriage before making way to where the ladies were busy with their jobs.
"Excuse , ladies. Do you mind if I ask you a few questions?" the coachman asked respectfully, making these village won who were used to being looked down up look at him kindly.
"Go ahead and ask."
"Yes, if there is sothing that we know, we will answer you truthfully!" the woman enthusiastically responded.
The coachman hearing that sighed with relief. He was afraid that these ladies might think unkindly of him and scold him left and right. Thankfully, they weren’t as scary as he thought.
"That’s great. Do you mind telling what’s happening? Is this by chance a restaurant? And if it is, is it opening?" he couldn’t help but throw a barrage of questions at them.
The won, hearing the questions, felt relieved for no reason and started answering.
"Yes, this is a restaurant. It’s opening today later this afternoon."
When the coachman heard that, his eyes lit up and asked urgency in his tone. "Is it possible for to see the owner?"
When the ladies heard that, they all looked at each other before one volunteered to go and call the owner.
anwhile, inside the kitchen, Calista had just finished adding more water to the cauldron with samp when one of the won knocked on the restaurant’s door calling out to her.
"Madam Solace, there is a gentleman outside who wants to see you. Do you have a mont?" the woman asked cautiously, seeing that the other was busy and the aroma coming from the kitchen too much to handle.
Calista’s rows furrowed as she calculated sothing before, she answered the woman. "Tell him that I will be there in a mont."
The woman flashed a smile at Calista before disappearing to inform the gentleman of the answer.
anwhile, in the kitchen, Calista issued a string of instructions to Susan and Naomi before leaving.
With a warm towel in hand, she wiped her hands with it and left it at the table just by the door. As soon as she exited the restaurant, she spotted an ordinary carriage parked by the roadside, a short distance from where the restaurant was and the supposed gentleman who wanted to et her was busy chatting sothing with the won who were obviously having ti of their life.
When the man was inford that Calista was out, he politely bid the ladies goodbye before hurrying to where Calista was. Calista remained standing at the spot as she waited for him to arrive. When he arrived, he greeted her politely, which made Calista size him up, thinking kindly of him.
She likes n who know how to be polite and respectful to won. She hated those n who thought that they were entitled and that won didn’t matter when they were born from won. How could they be so shaless and uncouth like that?
"How may I help you?" she asked after the exchange of greetings, wondering what a passerby wanted with her.
The coachn hurriedly responded, hoping that his actions didn’t affect this young woman’s business. Just looking at her, he could tell that she didn’t seem to be the kind that could be taken lightly. Her aura didn’t match that of the woman he was chatting with earlier.
"My mistress wanted to et you. Do you have ti to spare? It will only take a short mont!"
Calista, hearing that, pondered for a bit, coming up with all possible theories as to why the other might want her, but in the end, she still nodded at the man before making her way to the carriage.
The coachman, seeing that, quickened his pace, and shortly overtook Calista before shortly arriving at the carriage.
He knocked lightly at the carriage and a mature female voice sounded from within.
"Did she agree to et ?" the woman asked, her voice a bit weary.
The man answered promptly, "Yes, she is arriving now."
"Okay, let co down and see her."
The coachman responded to that before standing respectfully by the side, waiting for his mistress to alight the carriage.
Calista arrived shortly and when she did, she saw the mistress stepping on the stairs to climb down.
While she waited for the other to be on the sa ground as her, she carefully took a look at the woman. The material of her kaftan was of great quality, showing that this lady despite the ordinary carriage she picked, she ca from a wonderful background.
