The female slave looked at the person whom she feared more than betraying her masters with a dumbfounded expression.

She was pushed beyond fear, to be honest. She had been stimulated greatly in a single day and she no longer had a voice to scream anymore.

If she wasn’t mistaken, this person, with the exact facial features, though she looked much better compared to the face she last saw over thirteen years ago. The person was supposed to be dead.

She was there when the girl with the sa face was flogged to near death before she was buried and breathed her last. She was present on all occasions. She even visited that unnad grave for several days just to check if the animals hadn’t visited there and to see if everything was fine.

So why was she seeing that sa face after so many years?

"You ...... How are you still alive? Are you a ghost?" the female slave asked fearfully, her whole body trembling and voice shaking as she kept her gaze on Calista.

Calista grinned sinisterly as she looked at the female slave and suddenly broke into laughter, which sounded eerie to the ears.

"Elder, oh, no, I should call you foster mother. After all, you raised . Do I look like a ghost to you?" Calista sarcastically asked, her tone sounding very angry. The female slave shuddered with fear, her bowls loosening once more as she confird the identity of the young woman in front of her.

"You ..... it’s really you! But how .... How is this possible?" the female slave’s voice was tinged with helplessly, disbelief, fear and confusion.

It was impossible for Calista to be alive. If she was saved before being buried, then she wouldn’t be in such a state, but it didn’t happen that way. So how could she not be feeling that way?

Calista scrunched her nose in disgust upon seeing what the old lady had done again. How could she just continue ssing herself and making the place sll? Wasn’t she even embarrassed by humiliating herself in such a manner?

Looking at the old slave mumbling, Calista thought so. She couldn’t continue being in this room. She needed to find the information she needed quickly and get rid of the slave.

"Where there is a will, there is a way! Now I will ask you a question. Do you want to live or die?" Calista asked as she tilted her head playfully while staring at the old slave.

The old slave looked at Calista with eyes filled with complicated feelings. The little girl who died wrongfully wasn’t like that. She used to be very docile and good and following orders. And yet the one she was seeing right now was different. She was cold, ruthless and, above all, too scary.

She didn’t know if this person was still the one, she was thinking about or perhaps a ghost. Whoever she was, as long as she could send her away, it didn’t matter anymore.

She didn’t want to die. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have preserved to co all this way. Despite being a slave, her life was precious as well.

So, she gave an expected answer, "I want to live!"

Calista, despite knowing the answer, bead at the old slave and clapped her hands dramatically, saying, "That’s good. Since you chose life, then, old lady, you better be honest with and confess everything that you know about .

I have always been curious about my background, my real mother and what truly transpired on that night you coldly watched as they flogged to death. If you don’t confess it all, I will let you experience it for yourself and let you have a taste of being flocked with sothing spikey and then have people bury you when your life is hanging by a thread!"

Calista threatened with an eerie smile as she continued tilting her head playfully like a character in a horror movie.

She didn’t believe that the old lady didn’t know anything. Since she was here, Calista has felt like she understands everything.

eting Mammy Lena and hearing about the story of her mistress’ child and how she was looking for her, though she wasn’t sure if Lisa would be the child that they were looking for. She beca curious about her own background.

Even if her parents were slaves, she wanted to hear more about them. It wouldn’t hurt to know.

When the old slave heard that, she heaved with relief. If Calista had asked for sothing else, she would be in a bind, as she might not know much. But what she had been asked, she was fully aware of it.

She didn’t waste any ti and started revealing information. She didn’t dare speak about negotiations or conditions. If the other person wants her dead, she will die without her knowing.

That snake was so big that it could swallow everyone in the manor and still not be full.

"You are not your mother’s real child. We all lied in order to keep you with us. Your mother had a lover at the farmhouse and got pregnant. However, around that ti, her lover died while chasing boars from the farmhouse.

Your mother back then really wanted to keep her child, but she wasn’t stable. In the end, she lost the child, but she didn’t dare reveal that to anyone. She gave birth in the woods. She had gone to fetch firewood. So, no one was with her, to be honest.

However, returning ho without the child was a greater cri, and she didn’t dare do that!" the old slave sighed regretfully as she looked at Calista.

If that silly woman knew what had happened to the child, she risked her life to bring back, would she not regret her actions back then?

Boom. Boom.

Inside Calista’s mind, fireworks, no, explosives were exploding fiercely as she digested what the old lady had just said.

’I am not my mother’s daughter? She lost her child then does it an that I was either stolen from another woman or perhaps ....’ The more she thought about it, the more her train of thought swayed towards Mammy Lena?

When she appeared, it was because what she wanted was there. And in that place, there was she, who believed that she was her mother’s daughter. What if she was the person that Mammy Lena was looking for all this ti and yet she ended up pushing Lisa to her?

What would she do if that was indeed the case?
