"Auntie and Uncle, this is Hayes, a brother of mine. We haven’t seen each other in twelve years. So, he will be staying with for a while now!" she truthfully introduced Hayes to the couple.
When the couple heard the word brother, they were all relieved. As for the part of not seeing each other for twelve years, they believed that as well.
After all, the farthest that Calista had traveled in the eleven years she had stayed in the two villages, was either Liresa City or the other city the opposite of Liresa.
In the first decade, they never saw her relatives at all. The first outsider they saw was Orson, followed by Mammy Lena and now Hayes.
A person could have no relatives, so seeing him, the couple felt that it made sense. And that assumption of him being a possible husband candidate completely vanished.
Calista was rich, so it wouldn’t be surprising if her relatives were rich as well.
With that thought in mind, the couple’s expression when looking at Hayes suddenly turned kind.
And Hayes, who wasn’t expecting such a quick shift in mood, felt warmth coursing through his blood.
even the kitten was no longer hissing at him, though its butt was facing him.
Calista’s eyes also brightened when she saw the way the couple was looking at Hayes changing. It would be worriso if they continued to look at him as if he owed them millions.
So, she continued with the introductions, "Hayes, dear, this is auntie and uncle, also known as Ba and Ma Susan. Uncle is the village chief and a father figure to . So, when you see him, he is the elder which you are forced to respect. If you don’t respect him, then this older sister will kick you back to where you co from!" with a smile on her face, Calista spewed threats mixed in the introductions.
And her introduction this ti made even those who were eavesdropping look away as they stifled their laughter.
Why didn’t she change?
Would she die if she didn’t threaten anyone?
Even the couple chuckled lightly, feeling sorry for Hayes. Of all sisters to have, he just had to be a younger brother of Calista. He was in for so deep trouble. They felt pity for him.
Hayes, unaware of what others thought about this, as he had been threatened several tis on the road that he had gotten used to it and didn’t see anything wrong, took a few steps forward to greet the elders.
"Hello, uncle and auntie. I am Hayes, Calista’s brother. Thank you for taking care of her all these years and please look after well!" he politely said to the couple, his cold deanor of a black-belly rchant nowhere to be found.
The couple looked at the polite rich young master and found themselves liking him more.
All of Calista’s friends, no matter how rich they were, respected them and didn’t look down on them just because they were peasants.
And that alone made them like them.
Seeing that Hayes acted the sa as Diana and the others, there was nothing to hate.
"It’s our duty. Calista is like our second daughter. How can we let her be?" Ma Susan said smilingly as she looked at Hayes.
Hayes bead when he heard that. His eyes squinted happily as he found the couple very pleasing in his eyes.
He could tell that they loved Calista and were very worried and concerned about her sincerely. And that’s all he needed to see.
If they didn’t like her the way she liked them, he was going to put all effort into making her leave this place. She would develop better in the capital than here, after all.
Unfortunately, for now, she was still stuck in this place. So as a brother, he was going to listen and play it by the ear.
When all the introductions had been done, the four of them entered the gates, while Frank led the carriages to the area where they should be.
When Calista agreed to bring Hayes to her place, she already thought of the place to put him.
And that decision changed again in the past few days when he asked her what she thought of them becoming god-siblings.
Apart from Susan, who was a sister and a best friend at the sa ti, she didn’t have soone who had that kind of relationship with her. Faith and Leeshay were her best friends, but not siblings as such.
So, when Hayes asked her about that, her first thought was how nice it would be to have a brother as well.
Brothers tend to take care of their sisters. At least the kind she admired. Besides, if Hayes was to be her brother, he would be a great brother.
She had seen how attentive and caring he was to her in the past week. He loved to spoil her that those who saw them even mistook them for a nearly wedded couple because of her bulging belly. But their relationship wasn’t like that.
And in his eyes, she didn’t see the lust of a man towards a woman, but rely affection for a younger brother to his older sister.
That made her agree to beco his god-sister the previous day. And since they beca siblings, although it hasn’t been fully officiated, after all, there should be so ceremony according to what Hayes wanted. That was the reason why he sent soone with a letter that morning when they left Silverbroke town. He wanted the relationship to be formal.
When it becos like this, even when people see them in the future, they won’t think of crazy things.
Since he was now her brother in common sense, she couldn’t let him stay at the tree house where she placed Ian when he was staying in the village, but rather, she was going to let him occupy one of the guest houses. That was another reason why she built those houses.
If a guest or a family arrives, the guest houses have enough rooms to accommodate several of them. If there are a lot, then send so to the tree house and the others to the dorms.
Besides, she didn’t think that she could have friends and relatives who were so many that she would need to borrow places for them to stay.
That won’t be her.
Unfortunately, she underestimated herself. The future was going to teach her that.
