Lisa felt goosebumps on her body as she saw the murderous glint in the madam’s eyes when she talked about her relationship with the sorceress.
That reaction alone was enough to tell her that these two were definitely not on good terms.
And if she wasn’t mistaken, she wasn’t the only person the sorceress had sent to the madam’s side. The mammy next to the madam probably arrived the sa way.
And since she wasn’t the only person transported that way, she no longer felt like an alien but rather felt that she indeed co to the right place. At least here, she can be at ease and not fear for her life like before.
With such a kind-hearted person as the madam who dares take in people who mysteriously appear like her, what else does she have to fear?
With that reassurance and thought in mind, Lisa opened her mouth to start sharing the story.
"Madam, I am Lisa from the Literra Empire. I co from a kingdom called Artea," Lisa started narrating her story.
Calista listening to this introduction couldn’t help but feel amazed by the sorceress’s ans and dedication.
She didn’t know where she found Orson, but now, she wouldn’t be surprised if she heard that he ca from another empire again.
Sohow this sorceress was bringing together people from all empires under her roof. What kind of sches was it planning?
"As you suspected, I indeed was sent here by the sorceress, but trust , I didn’t know that I was coming here. I ....."
Lisa continued to narrate her story as earnestly as she could.
Lisa’s life was diocre at a young age. She grew up with her rchants’ parents, who traveled between the empire of Kaneria to Literra all the ti.
They settled down in the kingdom of Artea. At that ti, she was just ten years old. Life was simply too good for her. They were happy, but happy tis tend to not last for a very long ti.
When she was twelve years old, one of the uncles who traveled with her father returned with bad news. Apparently, her father and the rchant ship ran into pirates in the sea, and the whole team fell under the blade of the pirates.
Her father perished in the sea alongside the many that followed him. The uncle who ca with the news was soone who didn’t happen to join on the last trip, which saved his life.
The news that the uncle brought changed her entire life. Her mother refused to believe that her husband would just leave her like that. She literally went insane and started hallucinating all the ti.
As a result, the young Lisa had to take on the mantle of being an adult and take care of her sick mother.
Her mother preserved for years, actually, which was sothing very good and draining at the sa ti. She was glad that her mother kept on holding on to life, but it was draining as her mother’s state was also very worriso.
When she was eighteen years old, her mother on her deathbed confessed a very shocking secret to her, which left her baffled.
However, after learning it, there was nothing that she could do about it except to live her life.
So, she ignored that secret and lived her life normally. Since she was left without any money because of the debts she incurred with her parents’ deaths, Lisa ended up working at a brothel house.
Not as a host or prostitute. She never served custors sexually, but did other jobs. The matron was very fond of her, so she taught her several skills. And thanks to those skills, she was able to save a lot of money and pay off her debts.
But then everything started going downhill two years ago when a certain rich young master, very lecherous, took a liking to her.
Honestly, Lisa wasn’t in a hurry to get married despite her age. Two years ago, she had just managed to finish paying off her debts, and in her mind, she wanted to spend a few years to herself to enjoy her life before tying herself to another person.
Her childhood was spent taking care of her deranged mother, and then her youth was all spent in slaving herself to pay off debts. After repaying the debts, why should she hurry to get married?
To take care of a grown-up man, bearing children and suffering abuse from in-laws?
Lisa didn’t want to suffer that early, so she kept to herself. But the appearance of that lecherous young master made her life very hard.
As if that wasn’t enough, she found that people were keeping an eye on her.
One day, a few months ago, soone broke into her room, strangled her and started asking her strange questions. She was in a daze and kept on asking for rcy.
The matron happened to be awake, and when she heard the commotion, she ca to her room to ask what was happening. And thanks to that, the assaulter hurriedly left but didn’t forget to warn her rcilessly.
The more Calista listened to the story, the more interested she beca. There was indeed sothing fishy going on that Lisa hadn’t ntioned yet. And surely, the best was yet to co.
"It was only when the assaulter left that I finally sat down and started connecting the dots. Apparently, the secret my mother told about on her deathbed was the one that was causing all of this!" Lisa couldn’t help but sigh dejectedly as she said this.
Calista, curious to hear more, asked curiously, "What was the secret? Could it be that your father left so hidden treasures sowhere and these people are out to get it?"
Upon hearing that, Lisa couldn’t help but chuckle, finding the situation a bit funny. "I wish that was the case!" she said, shaking her head. "My mother told that I wasn’t their child and that person who wanted to fish for information from before killing wanted so information related to that issue of mine. He seed to be certain that I had what he wanted."
Calista, hearing that, couldn’t help but suck cold breath.
’Damn! The story just got even better. I love birthright scandals!’
After migrating to many worlds, the interesting scandals she had always co across were the fake and real daughters. Whenever such a trope cos out, drama always follows.
So many face-slapping scenes and big shots coming. Unfortunately, in eras like hers, confirming paternity was a difficult thing to do. Besides, not every woman was courageous enough to cheat.
When found cheating, won were drowned alive in a pig’s cage. Who would want to face such a humiliating act?
No one.
