After knocking John down, Ji Nian put away her small spray and began to survey her surroundings.

She had no idea where she had been taken. The place she found herself in was a cramped room. A broken, flickering light hung from the ceiling, and there were no windows. The air was thick with a damp, unpleasant sll.

It was stifling and irritating.

She guessed she was still underground.

But... where did all these tunnels co from? When were they dug?

After pressing her ear against the door to listen for sounds outside, Ji Nian cautiously opened the door and stepped out.

This seed to be the organization's second hideout, though it wasn’t fully constructed yet. Wires dangled from above, and the lights flickered on and off. The air was filled with chaotic noises, and Ji Nian strained to identify the direction of the commotion before carefully moving toward it.

“What’s going on? It feels like we’re surrounded!”

“Why are the Chinese going so crazy? Can we still make it out safely?”

“Don’t panic! Even if they’ve figured out we’re underground, they won’t find us anyti soon. Unless they’re willing to blow the place up—and they won’t, because there’s a school above us!”

“Damn it, where’s Tuka? Did he abandon us?”

“I overheard sothing earlier… Those Chinese are relentless. Tuka went to… ask for help.”

The foreigners mumbled the nas, and Ji Nian couldn’t make out who they were referring to.

At a ti like this, who could Tuka possibly go to for help?

Ji Nian wasn’t exaggerating—if Ji Tingzhou was involved, whoever could save soone from his grasp must have significant influence and connections in the city.

But as she ntally ran through the list of the most powerful figures in S City, none seed to fit.

Could it be the founder behind Vengeance?

Ji Nian guessed correctly…

After enduring countless hardships, Tuka finally made it into the secret passage of the Chen family. By the ti he reached Chen Mo, he was barely clinging to life.

Due to the rain the previous day, Chen Mo’s body was in extre discomfort. He had been drifting in and out of sleep when his subordinates inford him of the citywide chaos.

It was said that the military had been mobilized, apparently to arrest soone—or perhaps to rescue soone.

The most notable detail was that Ji Tingzhou had also taken action, and his involvent was even more aggressive.

Despite his physical discomfort, Chen Mo forced himself to stay alert and ordered his n to investigate who they were pursuing.

The more they dug, the more alard his subordinates beca.

Chen Mo himself was so furious that he coughed up blood.

“Tuka.”

The na rolled off his tongue as if he wanted to tear the man apart with his teeth. His dark eyes burned with a terrifying intensity.

Chen Mo was in pain, but he wasn’t stupid.

At this point, if he couldn’t figure out what Tuka had done, he’d be a fool.

The only person who could drive Ji Tingzhou to such extres was Ji Nian. Chen Mo couldn’t think of anyone else.

He rembered making plans with the girl just the day before, promising to tutor her.

And now, with Tuka’s cruelty in mind, he couldn’t help but worry about what would happen to Ji Nian if she fell into his hands.

“How dare he…”

Chen Mo’s voice was as cold as if he were speaking of the dead.

He knew full well that Ji Tingzhou had been investigating Vengeance, yet Tuka had the audacity to kidnap his most precious person at a ti like this.

Had Tuka swapped his brain with his backside?

Before Chen Mo could fully process the situation, one of his subordinates brought him another piece of news.

Even the subordinate found it absurd, and his expression was off as he delivered it.

“Boss… Tuka is here. He’s asking for your help.”

What was he thinking?

Chen Mo had explicitly forbidden the use of children in human experints, yet Tuka had gone ahead and done it anyway. Not only had he kidnapped Ji Tingzhou’s daughter, but the scale of the manhunt suggested he’d done sothing even worse.

How could he have the nerve to co to the family head to clean up his ss?

“Let him in.”

As expected, Chen Mo allowed him to enter, though his expression suggested Tuka was in for a world of pain.

Tuka was carried in, covered in blood.

The mont he entered, he fell to his knees with a loud thud.

“Family Head! You have to help !”

The audacity was astounding.

Chen Mo looked at Tuka’s pitiful state without a hint of sympathy in his eyes.

He had known Tuka had been up to sothing recently but had chosen to turn a blind eye, showing him considerable leniency.

Yet Tuka seed to mistake that leniency for weakness, further fueling the rumors that Chen Mo’s days were numbered.

“Tuka, who gave you the guts to kidnap Ji Tingzhou’s daughter?”

Chen Mo didn’t bother with pleasantries and cut straight to the point.

He even wondered if this idiot had been manipulated by soone else.

But Tuka looked up, utterly confused.

“What daughter of Ji Tingzhou?”

At this point, if Tuka wanted to be saved, there was no reason for him to lie to Chen Mo.

eting Chen Mo’s icy gaze, Tuka’s heart trembled, and he shouted, “I didn’t kidnap her!”

Afraid Chen Mo wouldn’t believe him, he quickly added, “Zhu Zhu failed! And I specifically ordered them not to target anyone with green eyes!”

“I only got one girl with black eyes!”

“What did she look like?”

Chen Mo was too tired to speak, so one of his subordinates asked instead.

Tuka thought for a mont and described Ji Nian’s appearance: “She had curly hair, very beautiful—exactly Zhu Zhu’s type.”

“Her eyes were black.”

The ntion of curly hair made Chen Mo close his eyes.

“Idiot.”

When he opened them again, his gaze was as cold as if he were looking at a dead man.

Seeing Chen Mo’s expression, Tuka instantly realized he wasn’t going to be saved.

Desperation fueled his outburst: “You have to help !!”

“If I fall into their hands, I’ll tell them everything about you! I know too much—don’t you think they’ll co after you too?!”

Chen Mo looked at him emotionlessly, his lips parting slightly.

“Wow, I’m so scared.”

Tuka: “……”

The subordinates: ?

“Tuka.”

“I’m a man of my word.”

“Do you rember what I told you last ti?”

Chen Mo didn’t elaborate further, simply tilting his chin to signal his n to take Tuka away.

Tuka froze for a mont before the realization hit him, and cold sweat poured down his back.

What had Chen Mo said before?

He had said—

‘If you dare use children for experints behind my back,’

‘I’ll make sure you experience every single one of those toxins yourself.’

His already weakened body went limp, and Tuka collapsed as if all the strength had been drained from him.

“No!!! You can’t do this to , Chen Mo!!!!”

“Without , you’ll lose your drug distribution channels! Who’s going to replace ?!”

Seeing that Chen Mo didn’t even bat an eye, Tuka broke down, crying and shouting, “I really didn’t kidnap her!”

“She showed up in front of and ca with willingly!!”

Chen Mo thought to himself, what a load of nonsense.

How could anyone believe such a blatant lie?

As the thought of enduring all those torturous toxins himself crossed his mind, Tuka, despite his injuries, began to struggle violently.

The n dragging him almost lost their grip.

He thrashed and fought, and in the chaos, sothing fell out of his jacket pocket and clattered to the ground.

Without needing Chen Mo’s order, soone picked it up and brought it to him.

Chen Mo glanced at it casually.

But when he saw the pure black guitar pick in his hand, his pupils contracted sharply.
