"Does it hurt? Tell the teacher if it does."

The teacher gently comforted the injured little girl as she cleaned Ji Nian's wound.

Ji Nian stared at the cotton ball stained with her blood and nodded. "It hurts..."

The teacher replied, "Bear with it, and it won’t hurt as much."

Ji Nian: "……"

Shen Qingtang said pitifully, "Teacher, could you go a little slower? It really hurts."

The teacher: "……"

The pain is on her, so why are you crying?

"Ji Nian, if it hurts, you can bite ."

Shen Qingtang looked at the large patch of scraped skin on Ji Nian’s elbow, revealing raw, red flesh, and couldn’t stop her tears from falling.

Ji Nian sucked in a sharp breath while using her uninjured arm to wipe Shen Qingtang’s tears away.

"I’m fine, I’m fine. Go check on He Xiang for ."

Shen Qingtang didn’t even blink. "Already did. The teacher said his external injuries aren’t serious, but it’s best to go to the hospital for a thorough check-up."

Ji Nian: ?

When did she hear that? I didn’t catch it.

Just as she was thinking this, hurried footsteps echoed from the hallway.

Gu Xiuyuan, small and panting, appeared at the door.

As if he wasn’t the one who always scolded others for running in the corridors.

"Ji Nian! Are you okay?"

Seeing Ji Nian sitting on the bed, Gu Xiuyuan jogged over, his bangs blown back by the wind, revealing the blue headband on his forehead.

"It’s this bad?!"

His face paled slightly when he saw the bloody wound on her elbow.

Ji Nian replied weakly, "Yeah… so bad that if you’d co any later, it would’ve scabbed over already."

She didn’t understand why these two—who played and sparred together daily, often ending up with scrapes and bruises—were acting so shocked.

System: [Probably because you’ve never gotten hurt training with Zhiliao before, and now you’re injured in P.E. class.]

As soon as it finished speaking, Ji Nian wasn’t sure if it was her imagination, but she suddenly heard a loud rumbling overhead.

Ji Nian blinked slowly, exchanging a confused glance with the equally bewildered school nurse.

Shen Qingtang and Gu Xiuyuan, however, reacted quickly. "That’s a helicopter."

Ji Nian, who had lived here for two years but was still a country bumpkin at heart: Ohhh, that makes sense.

Then Gu Xiuyuan paused before hesitantly asking, "Did… Uncle Ji co?"

Shen Qingtang looked at Ji Nian and nodded. "Probably."

Ji Nian froze.

The two kids’ guess turned out to be spot-on.

The mont the Ji family’s helicopter landed, the principal rushed to the rooftop to greet them.

"Mr. Ji!"

His expression was uneasy.

When he first heard about Ji Nian’s injury, he had nearly panicked. After learning it was just a minor scrape, he relaxed—but seeing Ji Tingzhou’s expression now, he wasn’t so sure anymore.

He shot a questioning look at Ji Nian’s horoom teacher beside him: Are you sure it’s just a minor injury?

Ji Tingzhou looks like his daughter is on death’s door!

Ignoring the principal’s pleasantries, Ji Tingzhou’s dark green eyes were stormy.

Without him needing to speak, Wei Yang stepped forward and said coldly, "Lead the way."

The most terrifying presence, however, was the woman standing to the far right, her face half-covered by a horrifying scar.

Her pitch-black eyes, devoid of any light, stared unblinkingly at the two n, sending chills down their spines.

"This way, please."

They didn’t waste another word.

For so reason, the floor where the infirmary was located fell eerily silent.

The school nurse, after receiving instructions, left the room despite her confusion.

Now, only the children remained inside.

Seeing the situation unfold, Ji Nian knew—

Ji Tingzhou had really co.

The emotions she had suppressed earlier, after being saved by He Xiang, resurfaced.

She suddenly whispered, "I’m a little sleepy."

Gu Xiuyuan: ? Now?

Shen Qingtang, however, didn’t question it. "If you’re tired, go ahead and sleep. There’s a bed here."

Ji Nian actually lay down.

Shen Qingtang swiftly pulled Gu Xiuyuan aside.

Gu Xiuyuan whispered, confused, "What’s wrong with Ji Nian?"

"Maybe she’s in a bad mood."

Shen Qingtang’s answer was vague.

Gu Xiuyuan didn’t buy it—the little girl’s expression clearly ant she knew sothing.

He suddenly felt a pang of irritation.

They’re keeping secrets from now.

But then again, the reason they had beco friends in the first place was because they sensed sothing intriguing in each other.

Though he didn’t show it, Shen Qingtang instantly read his thoughts.

"You’re a boy. So things girls can’t tell you."

Gu Xiuyuan’s expression fell. "If I get a sex-change operation, my dad will kill ."

Shen Qingtang: "……"

That’s not what I ant.

"……Wanna go play basketball?"

"Sure."

Now that they knew Ji Tingzhou was here, the two felt reassured and left the infirmary side by side.

Ji Tingzhou hadn’t co alone—Wei Yang, Zhiliao, and the Ji family’s dical team were with him.

The group marched down the hallway with an intimidating presence, their expressions so grim that, if not for their attire, one might think they were filming a gangster movie.

"Ji Nian?"

Ji Tingzhou entered first, his gaze sweeping the room before landing on the familiar lump curled up on the bed.

He ‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍approached, eager to check on the child’s injury.

Hearing his voice, Ji Nian’s eyelashes fluttered. The thought of him sending her away to the Chen family made her rebellious streak flare up.

"You’ve got the wrong person. I’m not Ji Nian."

Her voice was muffled under the covers.

The child was clearly sulking. Ji Tingzhou was montarily stunned.

First thought: Who upset her?

He reached out and patted her stomach—no hard lumps, so constipation wasn’t the issue.

Then what’s wrong?

That morning, she had barged into his room to wake him up, proudly announcing that she’d "pooped in the shape of a heart" and hadn’t flushed yet, asking if he wanted to see.

At the ti, Ji Tingzhou had stared in silence before tossing her out in his half-asleep irritation.

Is she mad because I didn’t go look at her heart-shaped poop?

"Ji Nian, you’re being very unreasonable."

He pinched the bridge of his nose, exasperated.

Ji Nian’s eyes widened.

[You’re sending away, and you’re calling unreasonable?!?]

She shot upright, her eyes red with anger.

"You’re the unreasonable one! You don’t respect at all!!"

He didn’t even ask for her opinion before deciding to send her away. After all these years of avoiding the issue, why now? Why suddenly decide she wasn’t fit to raise her and ship her off?

The more she thought about it, the angrier she got. Combined with the burning pain of her wound, Ji Nian couldn’t hold back her tears any longer.

She didn’t care about dignity anymore—she burst into loud, ugly sobs, her face scrunching up.

Ji Tingzhou was utterly bewildered.

Not wanting to look at soone’s poop counts as disrespect now??
