278 Ch. 278 The Twins’ Birthday
The next day…
“Eli... Happy birthday,” Anxia sneaked up on her son’s bed while kissing his son’s tiny face to wake up the child, who was still asleep.
Elliot chuckled when he felt light kisses all over his face until he struggled to let go. “Mama, it’s ticklish... hahaha... stop it,”
Anxia laughed heartily without letting go of her son and continued to attack Elliot’s face with motherly kisses.
At the sa ti, Lori, who looked gloomy near her bedroom window even though her grandparents accompanied her, now bead as soon as she saw her father’s handso face appear on her grandmother’s phone screen.
“DADDY!!”
“Hi, my baby girl. Happy birthday. I’ve prepared a present for you there.”
“I don’t want them,” whined Lori, pursing her mouth. “When are you guys coming ho?”
Richard chuckled at his daughter’s sulking. Ah, she missed his little princess so much and wanted to buy all the cutest dolls in the world for his daughter alone. But he rembered his son, who also had a birthday today, yet he couldn’t et the boy because it wasn’t ti for him to infiltrate there… especially in the morning when everyone was awake and active.
.....
“If nothing has changed, we will be going ho next weekend. I will also bring soone who wants to et you.”
“I just want you and mom.”
“Don’t you want to have a brother? I will bring him to et you.”
“Brother?! So you go to make a brother for ?” Everyone could see the beam of light on Lori’s face, which confused Stanley and isya.
Why did Richard lie by giving false hope to Lori? Even if it turns out that Anxia is indeed pregnant, shouldn’t they still have to wait a few more months before Anxia gives birth to a brother for Lori?
Why did Richard even say he was going ho with a brother?
“When will you return? Is mommy with you? Is my brother there? I want to see them!” exclaid Lori while jumping up and down, making Richard unable to see his daughter’s face.
“Patience, my princess. Now your mother is on an island infested with monsters with your brother.”
“Ha!” Lori imdiately gasped at this and held her grandmother’s phone in both hands. “Monsters? Do you et a fairy king too?”
Stanley rolled his eyes as his son started again with his stupid fairy tale. And miraculously, Lori believed all of Richard’s fairy tales which were sotis too unbelievable even for a child of Lori’s age.
But Lori loved her father’s stories so much and believed all of her father’s fairy tales that Stanley didn’t comnt. Plus, it’s been almost a week that Lori hasn’t seen her parents, making her moody and pensive alone more often. Even though the little girl tried to stay cheerful and not make her grandparents worry, Stanley and isya could still feel that Lori would feel lost if she didn’t et her parents.
Richard also knew his daughter must have felt lonely even though she was currently with her granny and granny. Other young children may be okay with living with their grandparents more than their parents. But Lori and her parents’ bond were so strong that they were almost inseparable.
Ever since Lori was born into this world, Anxia had never left her alone for more than twelve hours. When Lori t Richard, her father never separated from her for more than twenty-four hours. Therefore, although Lori loved her grandparents, those two could never replace her parents.
That’s why Richard contacted his daughter and pleased Lori by letting the girl know about the brother who was held captive on a monster island.
Well, Richard wasn’t exactly lying. Lori has a twin brother, and Loraine Shu did indeed hold Elliot hostage to threaten Anxia.
If they left and didn’t work things out with Loraine, the wicked older woman would constantly be tracing Richard’s family’s life, and their life would never be peaceful. If only Richard could break through Di Sha’s cyber program defenses, he wouldn’t have to worry. But Di Sha had an IT master who was even more advanced than him, and its defense system was difficult to penetrate.
Hence, Richard decided to wait and end the conflict between them and the fake Loraine.
Richard deliberately called Loraine and her n monsters because they were all monsters to his son. The woman was cold-hearted and had the heart to order one of her n to torture and severely traumatize a little boy.
Lori’s smile beca radiant, listening to her father’s fairy tale until the end. “So you will beco a prince on a white horse to save mom and brother?” she asked innocently and enthusiastically, wanting to et her future brother.
“Of course.” Richard glanced at his moving companion, telling him the ti to contact his family had run out. Richard had to end this call imdiately before their enemies tracked isya’s signal position. “Sorry, princess. I have to go now. See you in a few days.”
“En. I love you, dad.”
“Love you, too, princess.”
Lori returned the phone to her grandmother with a happy heart, and she was no longer depressed and was as cheerful as before.
On the other hand, Richard returned to check with one of his colleagues. “Still not yet?”
“Not yet.”
“Richard, Diego Regnz is in line three.” another colleague reported to Richard.
“Let it through.” He didn’t have to wait long; Richard heard Diego’s voice through his Bluetooth headset.
“How is it? Has there been any progress?”
“Not yet. They don’t use it at all.”
“It seems that Song Lei is smarter than we think. You better not have to wait anymore. The program will crash and spread viruses if the prototype is not powered for more than twenty-four hours. You don’t have to look for it, so you don’t catch the virus.”
“Alright. Btw, Diego...”
“What?”
“Thanks for helping .”
“You don’t have to say that. We’re family. And besides—”
“Hey, our help is not free,” another voice interrupted Diego’s words.
“What do you want?” Richard suddenly felt uneasy hearing the continuation of his cousin’s wife.
“I’ve decided to make Lori my daughter-in-law. You can’t give her to anyone else!”
Richard stroked his forehead in frustration at the words he almost heard whenever he called Diego. It seems that Yuna never gave up on persuading him to give Lori to that woman.
Lori was still five years old, for heaven’s sake!! Well, Lori is six now... anyway… it’s too far to think about marriage!
