Reina watched Zoey leave with a deep pang in her chest, but she had co to accept her fate. She didn’t really know why she felt grateful towards a pirate, but she couldn’t afford to dwindle on it.

Reina rose to the ground, staring into her hands and the clothes she were wearing.

The weapons, daggers and poisons, were once badges she wore proudly, but now, after being thrown into the horrific jaws of the truth and the sense of danger looming over her.

Reina understood that she couldn’t continue doing this anymore, she couldn’t be an assassin for the Resistance anymore, they would probably start looking for her if she doesn’t return to the Resistance imdiately to report what transpired.

But that didn’t matter anymore, she had made her choice, and she was going to stick with it. If the organization wanted her dead, she wouldn’t go down without a fight.

She glanced at the pirate that easily got rid of her teammates, she didn’t know whether to feel a deep sense of fear, or gratitude.

---

Zoey walked away as she sighed into the cold wind, her breath visible as she dropped down from the building and gently landed on the stone pavent.

She stood there for a few monts, looking back at Reina for a little while, before deciding not to dwell on it.

Reina wasn’t of importance anymore, whatever would continue to happen to her, wasn’t Zoey’s burden to bear.

Her head perked up as she saw Evan running towards her, his expression full of worry as he had heard the fierce sounds of battle and instantly rushed towards this location.

"Captain! Are you alright?" He asked, his tone full of worry as he stared at her injured forehead, her blood had dried against it and even painted so of her hair in it’s crimson wake.

"I’m fine, don’t worry about , everything’s alright." She replied, pressing her fingers onto her injury as she brought it down to look at it for a mont, reflecting on her journey so far.

It had only been five days, counting this one, that she had spent as a Hunter. She had just learned how to kill and take the lives of others during her second Trial.

She didn’t resent an ounce of empathy for those people, and with each life she took, she more she could feel herself growing a colder outlook on people.

Power ruled everything, and without power, you are simply nothing in this world.

The weak bow to the strong, and the strong trample all over the weak.

Just a few days ago, she was nothing, the only person in all of the world who didn’t have a speck of Mana in their body the mont they were born.

Even while being born to one of the most powerful families in all of Sunrow, she didn’t receive the sa benefits her two siblings had.

Better treatnt, wealth, fa, and more power than she could ever hope to grasp. At such young ages, they were considered prodigies, and they were in every sense of the word.

But despite being the oldest, she didn’t get to enjoy any of that, as if destiny had stripped her from that right.

’I’ll rise to the top....’ She thought, clenching her fists as her determination soared, her expression turning serious.

She wanted power, she needed power, and now that she was ard with this mysterious system, this benevolent gift bound to her to circumstances she couldn’t understand, she would take the potential it brought her and utilize it to it’s limits.

She rise to a point in power where nobody would be able to stand against her.

She cald herself down for a mont, exhaling slowly as she unclenched her fist as she turned to face Evan.

"The night is still long, you should all go rest up. We still have a long journey ahead of us before we arrive in Vedrynn," Zoey said, placing a hand of Evan’s shoulder.

"I...I understand captain." Evan said, to which Zoey nodded and decided to take her leave.

She walked towards the ship, thinking about just sleeping inside her captain’s quarters till sunrise. It’s not like they’d serve a pirate so room service after getting so of their town destroyed now, would they?

She pushed the doors open as she arrived inside of her quarters, and quickly went to bed, too tired to think of doing anything.

The doors of the supermarket slid closed for the final ti, as her shift had finally ended. She slumped against the counter, her knees almost giving out as she let out a breath of relief.

Finally, her shift was over.

"Nice work today Christine," Her boss complinted her, a proud smile on his face.

"Thank you, sir." Christine replied modestly, wiping so of the sweat that stained against her forehead as she rose to her feet once more.

"You can take your leave, I’ll make sure to tidy everything up before I close the shop for the day." He said, surprising Christine as her eyes widened a bit.

’Oh? That’s good, and a load off my chest.’ Christine thought, a small smile tugging on her face.

She grabbed her belongings and left the shop, stepping out into the cold night air. As she walked, she reflected on how difficult today was in particular.

The custors were rude, so of them were even creeps, it was just plain awful, and it really irritated her.

’I haven’t checked up on Zoey in a bit, I wonder how’s she’s doing at the Raging Phoenix Guild?’ Christine thought, taking out her phone.

As she did, her eyes landed on the necklace Zoey had bought for her, flashbacks of their date night flashing before her eyes. At the rembrance of that special event.

Zoey’s blushing, her constant teasing and flirting, it was all as clear as day.

Her own cheeks flushed a little as she thought about it, a small smile forming on her face.

’She’s probably sleeping, so I can’t afford to bother her.’ Christine thought, deciding to put her phone away as she looked up at the stars, a blissful smile on her face as she moved through the streets.

Even if the days were terrible, having Zoey in her life was always a strong reason to push through for.

"Hachoo!" Zoey awoke into the night as she suddenly sneezed in her sleep, wiping her nose as a deep feel of confusion washed over her.

"What the hell?"
