Vivian Quincy couldn’t smile anymore. Her expression turned grim.

The manager felt a little bad and said, "These are the President’s orders. I’m just an employee passing on his ssage. I’m sorry, I can’t help you."

"I understand. It’s fine, you don’t need to bla yourself." Vivian Quincy shook her head. It was already very kind of him to bring her a pair of gloves. Vivian hadn’t really expected the manager to help anyway.

"Well... I’ll be going then?" The manager gestured awkwardly toward the door.

Vivian Quincy nodded. "Okay, you can go."

"I brought you so dinner on my way over. Eat so when you’re hungry." The manager left the food and departed.

Vivian Quincy was getting hungry. The long hours of intense labor had left her exhausted, and her mind felt groggy. After washing her hands, she opened the food container. The al wasn’t lavish, but the portion was especially large. There was also a bottle of mineral water. She ate a lot, and so of her strength returned. Putting on her gloves, she went back to work...

Jasper Ford, who was also working late at the office, closed his laptop after finishing the last email. He rubbed his tired eyes and asked Caden Chandler, "Is she still at the company?"

"Are you referring to Vivian Quincy, President? She’s still working overti," Caden Chandler replied respectfully.

Jasper Ford opened his eyes. "Did she say anything?"

"No. She’s been working nonstop since she got to the warehouse. No complaints either," Caden Chandler said, shaking his head.

Jasper Ford scoffed. "She didn’t beg for rcy?"

"Apparently not," Caden Chandler answered earnestly.

A terrifying chill emanated from the man’s handso face. With a cold snort, he stood up from his seat, grabbed his jacket, and strode out of the office.

Caden Chandler followed close behind, getting into the elevator with Jasper Ford. When he saw Jasper press the button for the first basent level, he knew Jasper had no intention of caring whether Vivian Quincy lived or died. Caden didn’t dare say another word and drove Jasper Ford ho.

Jasper Ford was silent the entire way, his eyes half-closed as if he were about to fall asleep.

Caden Chandler was getting sleepy too, but he didn’t dare let his guard down. He took a deep breath and focused on driving.

"Any news from the hospital?" Jasper Ford asked.

Caden Chandler jolted and quickly shook his head. "Not yet. The hospital said it would take two days for the results to co out."

Jasper Ford said no more. By the ti he got ho, it was already two in the morning. The house was completely empty. After changing his shoes, Jasper habitually went to check on Beanie Quincy in his room before heading to his own, only to find it deserted. The bedsheets were neatly arranged. He assud Beanie was sleeping in the sa room as Madam Ford tonight. The next morning, when Jasper Ford got up, he specifically asked the butler about Beanie.

The butler said, "Beanie went ho yesterday."

"He left?" Jasper Ford frowned.

The butler said, "Yes, he left yesterday. Were you looking for him for sothing, Young Master?"

"No." Jasper Ford shook his head. He didn’t know why, but he felt a pang of disappointnt upon learning Beanie had left. He stared coldly at the table full of food, having lost his appetite.

Madam Ford was coming downstairs just in ti to overhear their conversation. She raised her voice and said, "So now you know what it’s like to be envious of other people’s children, huh? If you like them so much, why don’t you have one of your own?"

"Mom," Jasper Ford greeted her politely.

Madam Ford scoffed disdainfully. "Don’t you ’Mom’ . I’m not worthy of the title. I’m afraid it would bring sha upon our ancestors!"

’Here we go again...’

Jasper Ford could guess what his mother was about to say next. It was always the sa old thing: ’What’s the point of earning so much money and running such a big company if you don’t even have a child?’ Jasper had been hearing it for six years and was sick of it. He left without even eating breakfast.

It was still very early, so the company was mostly empty. Jasper Ford "took a detour" to the warehouse. Vivian Quincy hadn’t gone ho all night and was asleep, slumped over a table. She was probably so exhausted that she didn’t even notice when he ca in.

Jasper Ford stood beside Vivian Quincy, looking down at her haggard face. Her petite, charming figure overlapped with the girl from his mory. He chuckled softly. ’I must be going crazy,’ he thought, ’to think Vivian Quincy looks like the girl from that night.’

His slender fingers tapped near the girl’s ear. The crisp sound echoed in the vast warehouse.

Sleepy and hungry, Vivian Quincy was startled by the sudden noise. She opened her eyes in a panic and was shocked to see Jasper Ford, who had appeared out of nowhere. Her voice was hoarse as she said, "President..."

"Have you learned your lesson?" he asked.

Vivian Quincy froze. Still groggy, she slowly ca to her senses and realized Jasper Ford was talking about how she had blocked him from entering her ho yesterday. She bit her red lip and said nothing.

"You’re not allowed to clock out until today’s work is finished," Jasper Ford said before turning and leaving.

A cold draft seed to swirl around him as he left, making Vivian Quincy shiver. She didn’t try to stop him. She just freshened up, went to buy so breakfast nearby, and ca back to continue working after she was full.

It was as if Jasper Ford was determined to work Vivian Quincy to death. He assigned the tasks of several other staff mbers to her and forbade anyone from helping.

As a result, for the entire morning, everyone in the warehouse was relaxed except for Vivian Quincy. The few who disliked her even bought a bag of sunflower seeds and sat nearby, cracking them and gossiping as they watched her work.

"Look at that. This is what happens when you piss off our President. Serves her right."

"I bet she won’t last more than a few days. If she knew this was coming, she shouldn’t have done it in the first place."

"She doesn’t even know her own place. Trying to climb the social ladder and failing, ending up like this... it serves her right."

"When do you think Vivian Quincy will finally be fired? To be honest, I’ve had it with her for a while now. Every ti the President cos here, it’s for her. I have no idea what dirty tricks that Vixen used. The more I think about it, the angrier I get."

The group went back and forth, and Vivian Quincy heard every word clearly. It left a bad taste in her mouth.

’Even though I know I haven’t done anything wrong, let alone tried to seduce Jasper Ford, I have no idea why he likes to target . Even if I tried to explain now,’ she thought, ’no one would believe .’

She was so, so tired. It was all manual labor. Her hands, which had finally stopped hurting after a few hours of rest, began to sting with pain again. She didn’t take off her gloves. She didn’t need to look to know they were probably bleeding.

Probably because she hadn’t slept well and was too tired, Vivian Quincy felt groggy. She accidentally stabbed her left hand with a small knife lying on the side. She snatched her hand back with a pained cry.

The few colleagues cracking sunflower seeds nearby were also startled. They rushed over, only to see Vivian Quincy’s white-turned-grimy glove slowly being stained red.

"What happened? Who’s bleeding?" The manager, hearing the commotion, hurried over. He pulled off Vivian Quincy’s glove. "Why is there so much blood? Wendy, get the disinfectant and so bandages."

Wendy, having been called out, was clearly displeased. "Where would I get sothing like that?"

"If you don’t have any, don’t you know you can buy them?" the manager snapped.

Wendy retorted, "The President said no one is allowed to help Vivian Quincy. She hurt herself by accident, so that’s her own responsibility. Why are you yelling at ? I’m not going."

’Isn’t Vivian Quincy supposed to be so tough? If she’s so capable, let her go buy it herself. It’s just a cut hand and a little blood. It’s not like she’s going to die!’
