Vivian Quincy entered the complex and imdiately took the elevator upstairs with a security guard, only to find Wanda Quincy with two n, prying open her door.

"What are you doing?" Vivian Quincy yelled.

Wanda Quincy, who had been leisurely waiting to nab her prey, smiled when she saw Vivian Quincy. "Aren’t you supposed to be at the company? Why are you back?"

"I asked you what you’re doing!" Vivian Quincy strode forward, her voice several shades harsher than before.

The security guard with Vivian Quincy imdiately moved to stop the two n. "Who are you people? How dare you try to force a door open in broad daylight? None of you are leaving today. We’ve already called the police."

Hearing that the police had been called, Wanda Quincy laughed and explained, "I think there’s been a misunderstanding. Vivian Quincy and I are sisters. I just ca over today to take my little nephew ho, but I didn’t have a key, so I had no choice but to try and force the lock."

The security guard frowned. "Is that true?"

He directed the question to Vivian Quincy.

Vivian Quincy denied it without a mont’s hesitation. "I cut all ties with your family long ago. Please leave now."

"Vivian, I already know Beanie is in there. Do you really think I won’t be back if I leave this ti? If you know what’s good for you, you’ll hand the boy over obediently. Don’t make get my hands dirty. For , crushing you would be easier than squashing an ant." As she spoke, Wanda Quincy’s gaze turned utterly venomous.

Vivian Quincy stood up straight, took a step forward, and said, "I’ll say this one last ti. Get out of my ho. Now."

"Who do you think you are to give orders?" Wanda Quincy snarled before turning to her n. "Break the door down. I’m taking Beanie Quincy with today. If anyone gets in my way, don’t bla for what happens to them."

"Security," Vivian Quincy called out.

The guard’s face hardened, and he issued an angry warning. "This may be a family matter, which isn’t our place to manage, but you’re in our complex. Anyone who dares to force this door open will be reported to the police and taken to the station."

Wanda Quincy’s two henchn exchanged a glance and froze. Wanda herself had planned to barge in, but the sound of distant sirens reached her ears. Her delicate features hardened. She pointed a finger at Vivian Quincy. "You’d better think about this. I’ll be back."

With that, she summoned her n and left.

The security guard chased after them to stop them, but an infuriated Wanda Quincy ignored him and hurried away. In the end, the guard was left to explain the situation to the police.

Back in the apartnt, Anna, who had been huddled behind the locked door, heard the commotion die down and cautiously called out, "Vivian, are you out there?"

With a few clicks of the lock, Vivian Quincy opened the door with her key.

Anna jumped in fright and quickly pulled Beanie into a hug.

Vivian Quincy said, "It’s just . We’re safe now."

"Are they gone?" Still worried, Anna ran to the door and peeked outside. The hallway was empty. She breathed a sigh of relief. "That scared to death! Is Wanda Quincy insane? Trying to snatch a child in broad daylight—I can’t believe she’d stoop to that. What could our Beanie have possibly done to provoke her?"

Vivian Quincy said, "She doesn’t want looking into who Beanie’s father is. She’s using Beanie to threaten . If I left Crestfall, she probably wouldn’t be this frantic."

"Looking for the kid’s dad is your own business. It’s not like you’re trying to steal her husband, so what right does she have to interfere? That bitch. She becos a boss and suddenly thinks she’s above everyone. It’s outrageous." Anna, still shaken, looked at the mother and son holding each other. "This won’t work. Beanie can’t stay here anymore. We both have to work. It’s entirely possible that Wanda could just force her way in and kidnap him while he’s alone."

Vivian Quincy frowned, looking down at the little boy in her arms, who was clearly frightened.

Beanie hadn’t expected sothing like this to happen the mont he returned to their new ho. He pondered for a mont, then said, "Mommy, what if I go stay at Miss Ford’s house? They have a lot of guards and the security is tight. Wanda Quincy would never be able to get in."

"But that’s soone else’s house, after all." Vivian Quincy was still uneasy. In a low voice, she said, "If only we could find your daddy. He would definitely protect you. This is all my fault."

"It’s okay, Mommy. Don’t be sad." Beanie comforted her gently and added in a serious tone, "Mommy works overti every day and is already so tired. Just let Beanie find Daddy."

Vivian Quincy pressed her lips together, silent. She knew Beanie was only joking. After all, he was so little. How could it possibly be easy to investigate events that happened before he was even born?

Anna was right. This place was no longer safe. For Beanie to stay here, soone would have to watch him at all tis; otherwise, Wanda Quincy’s sche could very well succeed.

But she had no one to rely on in Crestfall, and she certainly couldn’t take her child to the office...

While she was struggling, Anna suggested, "Bring him to my place. My parents are both retired, so they have ti to watch him."

Vivian Quincy looked at her, moved and incredibly grateful. "Thank you."

"What’s there to thank for between us?" Anna waved her hand dismissively, then said to Beanie, "Go pack your things. Auntie will take you to my place right now."

BANG BANG BANG...

A knock sounded at the door.

The sudden sound made all three of them jump. They exchanged panicked glances.

Beanie whispered, "Mommy, who is it?"

Vivian Quincy’s face turned cold. She pushed Beanie into Anna’s arms and said, "Protect Beanie."

With that, she grabbed a kitchen knife, went to the door, and peered through the peephole. She saw an exceptionally refined-looking man standing right outside.

Vivian Quincy recognized him instantly. Who else could it be but Jasper Ford?

She panicked and hurried back from the door.

Anna asked, "Is Wanda Quincy back again?"

"No, it’s Jasper Ford. He followed here," Vivian Quincy said, shaking her head, her voice laced with dread.

Anna and Beanie were both shocked and stared in unison at the door.

’Beanie just got back. What if Jasper Ford finds him...’

"You don’t think Wanda sent him here to get the child, do you?" Anna asked, frightened.

Vivian Quincy didn’t know what Jasper Ford was doing here either, but there was no doubt his appearance at a ti like this was not a good sign.

"Open the door. I know you’re in there," a steady male voice commanded from outside.

Anna clutched Beanie tightly. "Vivian, what should we do? Are you going to open it?"

Vivian Quincy took a deep breath and called through the door, "Can I help you?"

"What are you doing running ho in the middle of the workday?" the man outside demanded.

Hearing his tone, Vivian Quincy thought, ’It doesn’t sound like Wanda called him here.’ She let out a small sigh of relief as the tension in her chest eased. She replied in a low voice, "I just had a stomachache. It’s nothing important."

"Open the door," Jasper Ford’s voice was laced with impatience.

Vivian Quincy said, "I’ll just change and head straight to the company. You don’t have to wait for , President Ford."

’A defiant tone. Her breathing is ragged. She’s hiding sothing.’

Standing outside the door, Jasper Ford suddenly fell silent. His expression was complicated as he stood there without a word for several minutes.

Vivian Quincy glanced through the peephole and saw no one there. Thinking Jasper Ford had left, she unlocked the door to check. But the mont she cracked it open, a tall, imposing figure filled her doorway.

Jasper Ford hadn’t left. He had been standing just to the side of the door, out of the peephole’s line of sight, waiting quietly.

Vivian Quincy froze, unable to process the situation for a mont. ’Oh my God, he’s still here!’
