Payday ca early!
The entire company’s staff was shocked!
This was unprecedented.
Payday was always on the 30th of the month, set in stone, but today was only the 25th.
All the employees who received their pay stubs were ecstatic. They discovered this month’s bonus was exceptionally large, likely because the company had recently secured several major projects.
Everyone in the secretarial departnt was discussing their bonuses. Alice Wood even ran over to ask Vivian Quincy how much she got paid. Vivian was curious too, but since she hadn’t received her pay stub, she had no idea.
She was just thinking about whether she should go to the finance departnt to ask in person when Jasper Ford summoned her to his office.
"This is your pay stub." Jasper Ford personally handed the stub to Vivian Quincy.
Vivian Quincy felt a small thrill of excitent. This was the first ti she was getting paid since joining Imperium Group!
She had just seen so many people outside flaunting their salaries, which made her a little expectant. She was the president’s assistant. According to Caden Chandler, her base salary should be much higher than others’. Caden had worked by Jasper Ford’s side for so many years and had supposedly saved up a lot of money.
Vivian was also a president’s assistant, even if she had been promoted midway through. Her salary shouldn’t be too low.
After looking at the first few lines on the pay stub, Vivian was so excited her heart felt like it was about to leap out of her chest!
Base salary: 20,000. Commission: 15,000. Performance bonus: 15,000...
Just those first three items added up to 50,000 a month. And there was still the perfect attendance award, overti pay, and various subsidies. All together, it had to be at least a few tens of thousands more.
Vivian was floating on air. ’A monthly inco of 100,000 isn’t just a dream anymore!’ she thought.
But when Vivian saw the rest of the table clearly, she was stunned. After a series of deductions for bonuses and performance that Jasper Ford had specified, Vivian was left with only 1,500!
That’s right, her salary for the month was only 1,500!
When she saw that number clearly, Vivian nearly collapsed on the floor!
The corner of her mouth twitched violently. She forced herself to look up, her slender, pale hand tightening its grip on the pay stub. She looked at Jasper Ford with suspicion and asked, "President Ford, are you sure this is my pay stub?"
"Is there another Vivian Quincy in this company?" the man retorted.
Vivian fought back the urge to burst into tears, her voice trembling on the verge of crying. "Why do I only have 1,500 for the month?"
"It’s written clearly on there. Read it yourself," Jasper Ford replied coldly.
Tears welled up in Vivian’s eyes. Suppressing the urge to wail, she summoned her courage and said, "President Ford, I think there’s a problem with this pay stub. You’ve always said you would deduct my bonus, and fine, deduct it, but why is my base salary also being docked? This 1,500 isn’t even enough for to buy buns for breakfast."
"That’s your problem," Jasper Ford replied bluntly.
Vivian couldn’t shake the feeling that Jasper Ford was targeting her. Gritting her teeth, she said resentfully, "So, you’re saying this pay stub is correct, and I’m only getting 1,500 this month, right?"
"Mm," the man replied with a single, flat word.
Vivian wished she could tear the pay stub in her hands in half. ’What a horrible person!’
’I quit!’
Vivian turned and walked away.
Jasper Ford, guessing what Vivian might do after leaving, added a sudden reminder, "Next month is almost here. Skipping work or going on strike now will affect next month’s performance review."
The implication was clear: ’If you don’t want to get only 1,500 next month, you’d better work your ass off for !’
Vivian’s heart was filled with unbearable frustration!
’She thought Jasper Ford was a despicable bastard!’
’How can anyone be so unreasonable!’
The cost of living in Crestfall was so high, and the end of the month was fast approaching. She hadn’t even paid this month’s rent!
She still needed to buy breakfast and provide for Beanie...
’It’s over!’
Vivian felt like she would starve to death before she made it to next month.
Her eyes reddened, and a crystalline glint of tears appeared.
Jasper Ford didn’t notice. As Vivian was about to leave, he reminded her, "Go to the finance departnt and pick up your salary yourself."
Vivian was miserable. Biting her pale lip, she mumbled an "Oh" and said nothing more.
The entire day, the departnt was full of celebration, with everyone overjoyed about the early payday. Only Vivian Quincy was in a complicated mood, sullenly finishing her work and leaving right on ti.
Jasper Ford had originally planned to make Vivian work overti, but he didn’t expect her to leave so quickly. He couldn’t even reach her by phone.
The truth was, Vivian was depressed.
After leaving the company, she sat alone by the bus stop, her spirits low.
Beanie sent her a text, asking her to co to the Ford Family residence early to pick him up. Normally, Vivian would have eagerly hailed a cab, but looking at the 1,500 salary in her hand, she almost burst into tears.
’That damn Jasper Ford! He must have done this on purpose!’
’I must have said sothing to offend him today. That’s why he paid everyone early and deliberately deducted all of my bonuses.’
’Was it because I hit Wanda Quincy?’
’No, that’s not it.’
If Jasper Ford really cared about that, he would have rushed out to help the mont he learned Wanda Quincy had been hit, not pretended like he knew nothing. Vivian didn’t believe for a second that Jasper didn’t know about Wanda "getting hit."
’Besides that, what else could I have done to offend him?’
’Could it be because I called him a cheapskate?’
’Oh God, when will I ever learn to control my big mouth?’
Vivian felt an urge to cry. She sat blankly at the bus stop for about ten minutes, and then she saw Jeremy King approaching again.
’Why does this old lecher always seem to catch at the bus stop?’
Jeremy King smiled and rolled down his car window. "Assistant Quincy, get in. I’ll give you a ride."
Vivian’s face was cold. She couldn’t help but vent all her anger on Jeremy King. "President King, please stay away from . I don’t want to have anything to do with you, lest your wife cos to bother again!"
"Assistant Quincy, are you still angry about last ti? I’ve already taught her a harsh lesson," Jeremy King apologized profusely.
Vivian snorted disdainfully. "If teaching a lesson was so useful, what would we need the police for?"p>Jeremy King could see that Vivian was quite furious. He assud it was because his wife’s actions last ti were so outrageous that Vivian was still holding a grudge.
In order to topple Jasper Ford’s great enterprise and unify the business world by taking his place, Jeremy King felt it was necessary to personally co and apologize to Vivian Quincy.
But Vivian remained unmoved.
"An apology is just empty words. You think you can atone for your wife’s mistakes just by moving your lips a little? Impossible."
Jeremy King understood her aning. He chuckled, took a thick wad of cash from his bag, and stuffed it into Vivian’s hand. "How about this? Will this help you cool down?"
"What do you take for?" Vivian raised her head angrily.
Jeremy King thought Vivian felt it wasn’t enough, so he gave her the last stack. "This is all I have on ," he said bluntly. "Just take it as compensation. How about that?"
"No, thanks. I don’t want your wife chasing to the company to yell at again." Vivian unceremoniously handed the money back.
Jeremy King said, "Assistant Quincy, this is a lot of money, and it’s just compensation. It wouldn’t hurt to take it. Are you sure you don’t want it?"
His question struck a chord with Vivian.
She had a small amount of savings, but honestly, it wouldn’t last long. If she kept working for Jasper Ford and earning a salary of just over 1,000, she and her son would starve sooner or later.
’This money could be a lifesaver!’
