Chapter 302: You Must Hate

Now

Avelina scowled at him.

"I have no need for it, nor do I want people to assu that I’m married when I am not. That only forces away any suitable suitors that might co for ." She smirked at him.

Draven eyes imdiately sparked up, suddenly burning brighter than they normally would. One could not tell if he was angered by her statent, but his grip on her hand had tightened, causing Avelina to hiss in a slight bit of pain.

"Wear it... Avelina." He spoke with gritted teeth.

Avelina raised her brow at him. "I. Said. No," she adamantly emphasized.

"I will not wear it even if you break my hand!" She looked at her wrist, which he was tightly holding onto.

Draven imdiately let go of her and stood up to his feet. "You must hate

now."

"Perhaps." Avelina shrugged, standing up from the sofa. "Let

ask you sothing. Did you ever wonder why you are alone?"

Draven gazed at her, confused. "What do you an?"

"Did you ever wonder why you have no one?" Avelina emotionlessly smiled at him. "It is because you push people away when they are clearly willing to stay. You make excuses, but truly, you are just selfish and only care about yourself. You are not doing anything for ."

She laughed dryly, amused. "You will continue to be this way, Draven, and in the end, you will be alone and probably die miserably. And whose fault will it be? It will be yours and no one else’s. That is what happens when you only think and care about yourself, disregarding the feelings of others."

Draven’s eyes fluttered rapidly. One could glimpse the instant pain that flashed in his pupils. Her words definitely got to him and it tugged at his soul, but he could not seem to react.

"That is quite alright," was all he could give as a response.

"I have always been alone before you ca, Avelina. And I do not mind being that way once again. I am used to it, thus, I’d rather die alone than take away sothing precious to you. not just you, but the ones eagerly waiting for you to co back to them soday. I would never be able to deal with the guilt, so forgive ."

"You said you will not wear it, right?" He looked at the ring resting in his palms. "That is alright." He shoved it into the pocket of his pants, turned around, and left the room, closing the door behind him.

Avelina stood, gazing at the door. She dropped onto the sofa and buried her face in her palms, suddenly beginning to sob in pain.

"Why won’t you just let

stay?"

....

Draven walked through the general foyer, his mind completely clouded with thoughts. He proceeded to walk to the secluded balcony of the mansion, but he ca face to face with Ryan, who took a step in front of him, stopping him from moving any further.

Heavily in a bad mood, Draven frowned at him. "What are you doing?"

"Why did you kill my wife?" This was Ryan’s first question.

Draven raised a brow at him.

"aning?"

Ryan imdiately grabbed him by the collar of his shirt, scowling at him. "Don’t look at

with that face, you asshole! I know you did it! I know you fucking did it!"

Draven stared at him with disdain in his eyes and grabbed his wrists. "Don’t touch

with your filthy hands!" His tone was hateful.

He adjusted his shirt and shoved his hands into the pocket of his pants. Then, with a tilted head and a smug expression, he said, "Yes, I killed your wife. What will you do about it?"

Ryan’s eyes broadened, and his skin stead deep red in a sudden rage. "You asshole!!"

"Get out of my face!" Draven pushed him out of the way and proceeded to leave, but Ryan gripped his hand, pulling him back.

"I’m still talking to you!" He sent his balled fist with the intention of punching him, but Draven grabbed hold of his hand before he could.

He rcilessly began to twist it, tightening his grip on his wrist to the point that one could hear Ryan’s bones begin to crack, almost shattering.

Ryan’s face contorted in excruciating pain, and he tried to break free, but Draven, who had no intention of letting him go—not until he shattered his bones, further tightened his grip.

"LET GO OF !" Ryan yelled at him, intent on catching the attention of the workers who were diligently doing their duties.

But Draven was quick to let go, not at all intending to cause so sort of ruckus. He vehently narrowed his eyes at Ryan. "Don’t provoke

more than I already am. I might kill you and have you join your wife!"

He threatened, his tone as calm as usual.

Ryan clutched his sore red wrist and glared at him with flaring eyes. He was beyond infuriated.

"You won’t get away with this! I will make you pay, just you—"

"Make

pay?" Draven interrupted him. A look of amusent erged on his face, and he took a step closer to him. "You are lucky that I didn’t kill her in the most miserable way possible. That is how benevolent I am."

"For soone who had a hand in the deaths of my late wife and son, I sure had quite the rcy on her. You should be grateful to , don’t you think?"

Ryan’s eyes burned with anger. "FUCK YOU!!"

Draven smirked, emotionless. He leaned in, slanting closer until his lips were close to Ryan’s ears.

He asked, "You want to make

pay?"

"Sure, run along to our dear father and tell him. Tell him that I’ve killed his little pawn and join him in devising yet another plan to eliminate . But, while in the process, do tell him what your wife has done. Tell him of her little encounters with a witch and the attempt to murder my wife."

"I’m sure there is nothing more you can do other than this, Daddy’s boy. I don’t mind at all."
