Chapter 255: Her Mother?

Olive nodded.

"We did. We found her parents, but..." he paused.

Draven frowned. "But what?"

"Well..." Olive took a deep breath. "Her father owns a cathedral."

Draven furrowed his brows. "A cathedral?"

Olive nodded, confirming his words. "Yes. They are quite religious, it appears."

Everyone, including Pierre, was surprised. "Is that...a good thing for us?"

"What’s wrong?" Draven glanced at him, asking.

Pierre responded, "Nothing really. It’s just...holy water hurts us....you know."

"That’s fine." Draven shrugged. "We live in a separate world for a reason."

Lucien nodded, agreeing with him. "It’s not like we are ever going to approach the human world and ask them to bathe us with holy water." She cackled, patting Pierre’s shoulder.

Pierre pushed her hand off, his face a slight shade of pink in embarrassnt.

Draven tilted his head, supporting his chin with his balled fist. "Is that all?" he probed.

Olive and Loui glanced at each other before facing him. Olive shook his head. It looked like he had a lot to say, but he was reluctant to do so.

Draven scrunched his face, able to tell that sothing was wrong. He queried, "What is it?"

Olive took a deep breath. He went ahead to explain. "Don, I think sothing is very wrong with Lady Avelina’s family."

This imdiately piqued Draven’s interest, and he quickly raised his head. "What do you an?"

Olive began to clarify, "I don’t know, but I don’t think her family likes her at all. Especially her father and the eldest daughter."

"Why do you say so?" Draven question.

"Well, when we arrived there and showed her picture to him in order to confirm, his deanor changed, but not in a good way at all." Olive shook his head. "He had this look of anger and contempt in his eyes rather than the expression of sadness that a father whose daughter has been missing for a long ti would have. He seed as though he did not even want to see her photo, let alone see her face-to-face."

Draven looked at Loui, and to confirm Olive’s words, Loui nodded. "He’s right," he said.

"Do you have an idea why?" Draven asked.

Olive was clueless. "I am not sure, but he did speak about Lady Avelina running away from this man she was to be betrothed to and nearly killing him. He spoke about her having ruined the family’s reputation and so on. Not only him, but the eldest sister spoke the sa."

"Even Mr. Marcel made the sa statent on how it would be better if she was dead because there was really no way she would be alright after she had done. He spoke about her leaving him in the hospital for days and tarnishing the reputation of her family. Apparently, it seed that after the commotion Lady Avelina caused over the situation, people must have talked or so," he elucidated.

Loui nodded, affirming, "He is right. Everyone seed angry and absent-minded, as though they didn’t even care if she was alive or dead. I really couldn’t understand."

"I an, I am sure that a lot of won out there have run away from unwanted marriages or so. I do not see why hers’ is such a big problem that they have begun to feel this much contempt."

"Also, this Marcel of a man seems to have a very huge grudge against Lady Avelina." Olive chirped in. "The way he spoke, I am fully sure that he would hurt her if he ever laid eyes on her. He seems to be really mad that she ran away from him and also landed him in the hospital."

"He called her a lot of slurs as well. It was pretty bad, I actually had the urge to punch his face." He scratched the back of his neck, feeling a bit awkward by the situation.

Everyone was dumbfounded that their jaws had fallen. They blinked their eyes and shifted their gaze to Draven. Why had they assud that Lady Avelina probably ca from a great family? Who would have thought her family was that...horrible?

Draven pinched between his brows. He took a deep breath and gave a nod. "I see."

"Have you purchased what I asked for?" He looked at Olive.

Olive nodded, taking out the credit card. "We will co with the box tomorrow."

"Alright." Draven took the credit card from him. His expression seed as though he were calmly angry. He stood up from the chair and began to walk away to exit the mansion.

"Don," Loui called. "Are you leaving already?"

Draven gave a nod without stopping. He needed to be with Avelina; therefore, he had no reason to linger.

Olive wrinkled his brows and abruptly got up from his seat. He hurried after Draven, who had already left the mansion, to his car.

"Don! Wait!" He ca to a stop in front of Draven.

Draven was about to open the door, but at his abrupt presence, he stopped.

"What is it?" he asked.

"There is one more thing that I didn’t tell you about," Olive said.

Draven lifted his right brow in a questioning manner. "Which is?" He seed to be in a very terrible mood, thus leaving him to answer in no more than three words.

Olive took a deep breath. He began to talk. "Um, when I spoke about Lady Avelina’s family, I forgot to tell you about her mother."

"Her mother?" Draven probed.

Olive nodded. "She seed very worried about Lady Avelina. She was sad and broken. I don’t know, it’s just...when she saw Lady Avelina’s photo with , I glimpsed her eyes glint with the hope that her daughter was okay and fine. She seed happy to realize that we knew her daughter."

"She asked if she was okay and wanted to know her whereabouts and so on. I couldn’t really talk to her much, but she seed really apprehensive. She was smiling and tearing up at the sa ti while speaking to ."

"I could tell she really wanted to know if Lady Avelina was okay. She wanted to know her whereabouts and possibly if she would be able to find her."
