Chapter 239: They Could Kill You If You Dared!

Aurora balled her hands into tight fists, biting her lip.

She suggested, "Let’s raise our child away from the royal family."

"What?" Lumian was stunned.

Aurora nodded at him.

"Yes, Lumian. That is the only solution right now. This way, our child can be safe, and you can also find an opportunity to break free without anything or anyone tying you down."

"This place is a hell on earth. No one is happy, and I don’t want us to raise our child in such an environnt. Look at Ryan and Lestat’s kids. They are here, witnessing all this madness! When have you ever glimpsed a smile on those two children? Never! Why would they smile? This place has so much sadness, hatred, ill intentions, and no tinge of happiness. We can’t even have a peaceful breakfast without so sort of drama coming from one person to another."

"I am sick and tired of it, and I do not want our child to be in such a place. Please, my mother is available. She is very trustworthy, and I know that she will take the utmost care of our child. We can always go visit him or her whenever we like. We’ll keep this pregnancy from them, and I will give birth to our baby in secret. No one will know, not even the maids."

She continued, "I will even start taking care of myself by myself to make sure no one finds out, so please stick with . This is the best solution. I really don’t want our child to be—"

"It’s okay." Lumian pulled her into a warm, gentle hug, embracing her. "You are right. It is the best solution. This way, our child’s life will not be at stake."

He deeply exhaled before gently placing a warm kiss on Aurora’s forehead.

[7:40. Pm]

Avelina walked out of her dressing room, dressed in a full-length white dress. She was rubbing her hands against her arms, a bit cold.

"Draven—" She ca to a halt upon seeing nobody in the room. He couldn’t have left already, right?

What about the hug, at the very least? He agreed, so could he have forgotten? She wondered before vigorously shaking her head.

It doesn’t matter. This was an opportunity to stay farther away from him anyway. They already spent a bit of ti together in the morning, which they shouldn’t have, but that was inevitable due to the family breakfast. The family mustn’t know that there was sothing off with their relationship.

A long, deep breath fled Avelina’s nose, and she strolled toward the window. She sat down and raised her head to gaze at the dark sky. Her soft hazel eyes twinkled at the sight of the cosmos, and she slowly went into a montary daze.

Her lips could not help but curl up into a warm smile. She could still rember her first night with Draven. He was seated right where she was, gazing at the cosmos.

That was where they had their first proper, gentle conversation. The first ti he had spoken tenderly to her in a way that no one else had ever.

Avelina tightened her grip on her dress and slowly buried her face in her folded knees. She could tell that Draven was in the other room.

The only man who’d ever listened to her on most occasions without question. She had asked for distance, which was very ridiculous, and even though she couldn’t give him any direct reason, he never probed further about it.

He gave her what she wanted, even though it was obvious that he was quite sad about it. He even went to the point of blaming himself and thinking he was the problem. If only he’d known she needed him closer than her shadow...

In her eyes, this man was not a problem, and he could never be the problem.

She was the problem, and she knew... But what choice does she have? What could she possibly do to solve this issue?

Would everything have been alright if she’d not started feeling in such ways for him? Would everything have been perfect between them if she didn’t have thoughts of him—if she hadn’t begun to desire him?

There would be no distance, right? And perhaps this night, he would be here, seated right beside him, while she chuckled. She hadn’t been happy these days at all, and she couldn’t even bring herself to smile anymore. He was her reason to smile because he did things that made her laugh.

He was funny to her, even though he never attempted to be hilarious. He was gentle with her. He looked at her with the most tender eyes and handled her as though she were in a bubble.

Who’d ever treat her in such a way? No one...Nobody at all...she knew

If only he wasn’t a vampire, maybe, just maybe, they could have had sothing. Maybe...she would have fallen in love with him and...

Avelina quickly slapped her cheek, snapping herself out of such drifting thoughts.

"Get it together, Avelina!" She vigorously shook her head. "You are not in love with him. You cannot and must not love him in such a way. Your worlds are different! Rember!"

"They could kill you if you dared. They will never forgive you!" She took deep breaths and quickly slamd the windows shut.

She got down from the window bay, walked to the bed, and lay down. She covered herself with the duvet and shut her eyes to force herself to sleep.

But sleeping was sothing she was suddenly finding hard to get. This occurred to her sotis, and the last ti it did, Draven read her to sleep. The situation this ti was different because there was no Draven to read her to sleep. She was alone in his...master bedroom.

Everywhere had his scent, even the bed she was lying on. But the scent was faint. He hadn’t laid in that bed for days now, and the feel of him was starting to dissipate.

Avelina sighed pessimistically and turned to lay on her side.
