Shi Su didn’t even have the chance to refuse before she was carried through the door.
When she ca back just now, she still had quite a bit of rainwater on her from the wind, but Jing Jihan seed oblivious, directly placing her on the bed. He then noticed the light sweat on her cheeks and went to the bathroom to wet a towel.
While the man was wiping her face, Shi Su lay on the bed, gasping in pain, yet she still lifted her hand to grab the towel: "Let do it myself..."
"Move your hand." The man’s tone brooked no argunt, full of authority.
Shi Su was silent for a mont; the pain was truly beyond her ability to pretend to be strong. Lying there, stretching out helped her feel a little more comfortable. She slowly let go of her hand, not moving anymore, allowing the pain to sweep through her nerves, and allowing the man to wipe off most of the rainwater from her face, neck, and body.
"Where does it hurt?" Just when she was in a haze from the pain, she suddenly heard the man’s voice.
Shi Su instinctively placed her hand on her stomach, then pressed the middle-lower part of her abdon, her face pale as she said, "Here."
Jing Jihan lifted his hand and placed it on her stomach. Even through the clothes, the warmth of his palm brought comfort.
Shi Su unexpectedly felt her eyes heat up, turning her face away to look in another direction. Resisting the cramps in her abdon, she gripped the bedsheet beneath her without saying a word, not looking at him either.
The doctor arrived quickly and promptly conducted a series of examinations on Shi Su. After the check-up, it was determined that the illness wasn’t due to disease but was caused by eating the wrong food or sothing too cold, leading to intestinal spasms. The episodes wouldn’t last long, but if she didn’t rest properly during an episode, it could recur repeatedly with increasingly severe pain.
Clearly, Shi Su had eaten so Hong Kong-style street food, perhaps from a stall selling unsanitary or indigestible snacks; various factors could be the cause.
The doctor prescribed dication and instructed her just to lie down and rest while using hot compresses and massages on her abdon.
After taking the painkillers, Shi Su, eyes closed, almost fell asleep in his room. Before fully slipping into sleep, she seed to hear Jing Jihan conversing with the doctor. Though it was just simple instructions, this voice instinctively cald her, allowing her to sleep peacefully amid pain and fatigue.
Until the doctor left, Shi Su was almost asleep, feeling suddenly extra warm on her abdon. Whether it was the effect of the painkillers or not, the pain seed to have eased quite a bit. It felt as though so force was gently pressing on her stomach, making her unwittingly relax her brows that had been furrowed all day, and her lying posture wasn’t so tense anymore.
This sleep was comfortable, and when Shi Su awoke and opened her eyes, it was still raining outside, though not as heavily. The sky, however, was already dark, and she didn’t know what ti it was.
She blinked twice at the ceiling light, attempting to wake herself up, and sat upright, realizing she was still in Jing Jihan’s room. Turning around, she saw the man standing by the window on a phone call.
Jing Jihan was rely on a call; he hardly spoke, occasionally responding in a low, soft voice, only uttering two or three brief English phrases, presumably listening to a report from an overseas company branch manager.
She got up quietly, carefully tidied the bed she had slept in, took her jacket, bag, and phone, planning to leave quietly.
Just as she reached the doorway, the man’s voice suddenly ca from that direction: "Take the dicine before you go."
Shi Su paused, turning around to see the man’s back still facing the room’s floor-to-ceiling window, without the intention of asking her to stay, but those words were indeed directed at her.
She hesitated, the cramps from the past two days had been a nightmare. Not wanting to endure the pain again, she simply returned to the bedside, found the box of dicine placed there, picked it up, and put it in her bag. As she turned, she paused slightly, looking back at the man by the window.
Knowing he was on a phone call, she didn’t disturb him. Regardless of whether he could hear her, she politely said, "Thank you," in a soft voice, then left his room swiftly without lingering.
Unexpectedly, just outside the door, she suddenly saw Jing Sixue coming from the direction of the elevator. Jing Sixue hadn’t looked this way yet, but Shi Su had already spotted her.
Shi Su only glanced at that figure, then proceeded as if she didn’t know her, as if she hadn’t seen her, without considering how Jing Sixue might react upon discovering her exiting this room. She also had no intention of greeting her, heading to the room door a dozen ters away, opening it, and entering without looking back.
Jing Sixue, however, froze upon suddenly seeing Shi Su leave Jing Jihan’s room.
Shi Su again?
She hadn’t been able to reach Jing Jihan all day. Last night’s spare room key incident had surely been discovered by him, making her unsure of what excuse to use for inviting him to dinner.
Finally coming up with the idea of seeking him out during dinner, she didn’t expect to see Shi Su leaving his room as soon as she reached the 22nd floor.
Moreover, looking at Shi Su’s hair, it was as if she had just woken up; her hair was still a bit ssy.
Didn’t they break up more than a year ago? It’s been almost two years since then, so what’s going on now?

After returning to her room, Shi Su took the dicine. She had already rested in the afternoon but it was already past seven in the evening, and it was still raining outside. She changed into comfortable clothing and lay back in bed, using one hand to browse the ssages in the film group’s WeChat, while the other hand massaged her abdon, which had eased considerably.
While massaging, she found her strength alternated between too light and painful, nowhere near the comfort she felt when her abdon was gently pressed as she slept in Jing Jihan’s room in the afternoon.
She clicked her tongue and stopped the massage altogether, bowing her head to reply to WeChat ssages.
The person in charge of the film ntioned in the group that they hadn’t been idle during their stays in Hong Kong due to the rain. They managed to contact the film sponsors in Hong Kong and planned to discuss the promotion and collaboration for the upcoming release over dinner, scheduled for tomorrow night in the VIP hall of Zijin Flower Hotel in the city center.
No matter in China what discussions or deals are at hand, dining and drinking remain the most effective and common thods, especially among executives and leaders in the entertainnt industry. They particularly enjoy discussing matters over als, and after a few drinks, talks of mutual support within the industry invariably erge.
After replying to the ssage, Shi Su took a bath. Likely due to the combined effect of the abdominal massage and dication, her stomach hadn’t suffered severe cramps for hours.
Upon exiting the bathroom, she found her phone ringing continuously.
