Until Zhou He hung up the phone.

Realizing it was waiting for Jing Jihan to co bail him out, Shi Su instantly thought of getting up and moving to a different place.

"Where are you going? Sit there and wait!" The officer inside saw her strange expression and sternly glared at her.

Shi Su had no choice but to obediently sit back down, looking speechless.

Zhou He, noticing Shi Su seed to be avoiding sothing, turned and whispered to her, "Actually, it’s so late, I didn’t have the guts to specially call Mr. Jing to bail out. But at this ti, my girlfriend and family are all asleep. I was going to call my family, but it happened that Mr. Jing ssaged earlier asking for the eting files from today. Then Mr. Jing noticed sothing off in my voice ssage and asked what was going on, so I ntioned this police station thing..."

Shi Su paused and responded with a polite, expressionless "Oh."

"I only told Mr. Jing that I had a bit of a scuffle with so punks for doing the right thing, and I’m at the police station waiting for bail. Mr. Jing just happened to be returning from the Jing Family ho tonight, so he said he’d stop by and bail out. He probably doesn’t know you’re here too." Zhou He said this while glancing at Shi Su’s face.

The implication was clearly telling her not to overthink; Mr. Jing wasn’t coming here for her.

Shi Su: "..."

In Jing Jihan’s life, the na Shi Su had been completely discarded.

She hadn’t forgotten what Jing Luozhou said.

Discarded.

She certainly believed Jing Jihan wasn’t coming for her.

Shi Su had a calm expression, as if nothing had happened, and just smiled, "That move you made tossing the bumper earlier was really cool."

Zhou He burst out laughing, "Speaking of which, I saw you with a piece of brick ready to strike, and it looked quite fierce. You must have practiced quite a bit in the drama group with the fight scenes, huh? Can you take down most guys who are slightly skinnier?"

"Not quite, the martial arts coach usually teaches flashy moves that just look impressive. The real effectiveness cos from the pepper spray and that bumper you threw at ."

"Miss Shi, you’re really humble. Those punks looked quite young, probably about twenty or so, still students I bet..."

Indeed, they were just so young kids, seemingly drunk.

If they were truly repeat offenders, they wouldn’t cause trouble near the Wanxing Building, close to the police station.

After getting a beating and then being brought to the station for detention and questioning, that’s lesson enough.

The two chatted away like old friends who were both down on their luck, not ntioning anything from a year and a half ago. Zhou He, while not as steady as Lu Zhao, knew what to ask and what not to ask.

Shi Su occasionally glanced at the ti, wondering when Jun would arrive.

Jun lived not far from there. With no traffic, she’d likely arrive soon.

She thought... surely it was closer than the Jing Family, and she should be able to leave first, avoiding any encounter.

However, her plan was perfect in her head, but in reality, Jun’s car had run out of gas and couldn’t reach the station. She had to stop by a gas station near her building, delaying her arrival.

By the ti Jun’s car reached the station, she happened to see Jing Jihan’s car arrive as well.

She hadn’t even gotten out of the car when she saw Jing Jihan stepping out of his black Bentley, puzzled. She wondered what Shi Su was up to; with Mr. Jing coming to bail soone out, why did she need to join the fun?

Jun, deciding not to bother, didn’t even get out of the car and drove away.

Shi Su waited for ages for Jun to arrive and finally heard a car outside. Thinking Jun had arrived first, she rushed to the doorway, almost bumping into a tall figure that just walked in.

She froze, lifting her eyes to et his.

The air was suddenly filled with silent cold and inexplicable awkwardness.

Within two seconds, Shi Su quickly averted her gaze, turning away as if nothing had happened, and returned to her seat.

Jing Jihan stood at the door, clearly not expecting Shi Su to be at the station. Noticing her sitting next to Zhou He as if they were jointly involved, his cold, clear eyes swept over them before finally landing on Zhou He’s face.

Zhou He stood up with an apprehensive and embarrassed expression, "Mr. Jing, I’m really troubling you... in the middle of the night... having to make you co over..."

A policeman nearby ca over to ask if he was there to bail soone out. Jing Jihan rely cast Zhou He a frosty warning glance and went inside.

Bail required a short process, and ten minutes later, Jing Jihan ca out, having learned the details of the incident from the police.

He erged, his gaze fixed on both Zhou He and Shi Su, like a parent called to the principal’s office because his children fought at school, but his expression was certainly not pleasant.

Seeing Jing Jihan approach, Shi Su slightly turned her head away.

After all, he wasn’t there to bail her out; it had nothing to do with her.

"So capable."

The man’s cold words ca from about a ter away.

Shi Su continued to maintain her silent posture, turning her face away, thinking to herself that he must be talking to Zhou He, not her.

Zhou He picked up on the cue and quickly responded, "Sorry Mr. Jing, but I was just trying to do the right thing. Plus, I saw it was Shi Su and..."

"Let’s go." Jing Jihan interrupted him, not giving him a chance to ramble, turning directly to leave.

Zhou He realized that his bail had been taken care of, quickly stood up, ready to follow Mr. Jing out, but then he paused and looked back at Shi Su still sitting there.

"Your people didn’t co?" he asked quietly.

Shi Su: "..."

Who knows what whim that woman Cen Jun was on?

After calling Jun to bail her out, almost half an hour had passed, and yet she hadn’t shown up.

Even though Jun lived near there, and Jing Jihan had already arrived coming from the Jing Family ho, Jun still wasn’t here!

"I don’t know, maybe the car broke down midway." Shi Su murmured, picking up her phone to call Jun again.

Seeing her on the phone, Zhou He didn’t ask further and turned to leave.

Just after a few steps, he heard Shi Su’s angry voice on the phone, "What do you an you ca and then left?!"

Zhou He paused.

Because he saw that Mr. Jing walking in front also seed to pause for a mont.

Jun’s voice ca from the phone with a rightful tone, "Didn’t you already have Mr. Jing coming to get you? You call out in the middle of the night. I haven’t even scolded you yet. Doesn’t one person suffice for a bail? What, you’re a big star, you have to have two people for your bail?"

Shi Su: "...???"
