Adventures of Shii (5)
“Huh?” (Shii)
Shii was now standing in the back alley with her hand on Sakuya’s stroller.
There was no greenery, no tranquility, and a faint hustle and bustle could be heard from a distance.
The garden was gone.
The skeleton beast was also gone.
It felt as if it was all a dream.
“…” (Shii)
However, what had just happened was by no ans a dream.
This was evident by the blade-less sword hooked to Sakuya’s stroller.
It was still releasing the sa pressure, and the strength of that pressure, which frightened all who saw it, told her that it was all real.
And then… one more thing…
Shii’s wrist was wrapped with a strange accessory…
It was a little bigger than her wrist, a little bulkier, and probably made of tusks, but… There was no doubt that it had been prepared just for her.
Because there were words engraved on it.
[Get along well with your family, Shii.] (Mukuro)
“Uncle…” (Shii)
Seeing this, Shii felt sad.
She had just made friends with him, but maybe… she would never be able to see him again.
Each of the creature’s words ca back to her.
[I’ll never see that person again.]
[Even if I continued to exist, I would not be able to do anything.]
[Just before my body was about to decay, soone appeared who possessed the scent of the Divine Age.]
Perhaps, truly, he was reaching his limit.
Even as bones, he was on the verge of decay.
No, perhaps he had already reached his limit. But the power of this sword may have been forcibly prolonging his life.
Although he continued to exist and continue his mission… He was alone, protecting the sa place without anyone knowing about it.
How much loneliness must he have felt?
For Shii, who loved spending ti with her family and preferred to be with soone else rather than alone, this was completely unimaginable.
Shii wondered how happy he must have been to finally find a successor in the form of Sakuya, in the midst of such fierce loneliness.
On the other hand, he was entrusting a child he had just t with sothing he had been protecting even after he had beco bones. It was beyond anyone’s ability to guess how he must have felt.
…She wondered if they could really fulfill what he expected of them.
Could they have lightened his heart, even a little?
“…Sakuya, I’m glad we had a chance to et Mukuro uncle.” (Shii)
Sakuya also seed to have noticed the change in his surroundings.
He was looking around with a “what the heck” look on his face.
He seed to be bothered by the fact that the skeleton beast that had been next to him just a mont ago was no longer there, and he let out an “Auuu”
“Don’t forget about Mukuro uncle, even if you grow up, okay?” (Shii)
“…Auuu, iiiuuuh?” (Sakuya)
“That’s right, we have to rember him and make sure he is not forgotten. Shii and you will be the only ones who can rember him since we are the only ones who t him and talked to him…” (Shii)
“…Ugh, uuuh, gyaaau!” (Sakuya)
Sakuya cried out loudly, perhaps understanding Shii’s words.
“… Ugh, uguh, uuh…” (Shii)
Shii also started to sob, tears welling up in her eyes, and then she heard his voice.
“Shii! Sakuya!” (Yuki)
A voice called out to them from afar.
“Ugh… Everyone!” (Shii)
Yuki, Lefi, and Layla rushed towards her side.
With Lefi arriving first, she imdiately picked up Sakuya from the stroller and started to nurse him, then Yuki and Layla ca over to Shii’s side.
“What’s wrong, Shii, did you hurt yourself?” (Yuki)
“No, I’m not hurt. I’m just sad…!” (Shii)
Shii cried out as loudly as Sakuya.
Her tear-blurred vision reflected an empty back alley.
It was just an ordinary back alley in a city.
Shii was helplessly saddened by this scene.
Yuki, who couldn’t bear to look at her crying, squatted down beside her and started patting her head as if to soothe her, while Layla stroked her back as if to reassure her.
Shii clung to Yuki’s clothes and continued to cry.
She continued to wail, as if sending off the skeleton beast.
