Chapter 66: Double-standard Sims
Seeing that it was a video call from Smis, Arix quickly answered without delay.
"Good afternoon," Sims greeted, his eyes shadowed with dark circles. Despite his exhaustion, he forced a smile for his favorite little Moon Pie.
"When was the last ti you slept?" Arix asked with a mix of concern and reproach as she looked at Sims on the virtual screen.
"Not long, just two days," Sims imdiately explained, seeing that Arix was unhappy.
His explanation only made Arix’s expression darker.
"Is the Chemistry Departnt busy again?" Arix asked, her face serious.
She knew firsthand how demanding the Chemistry Departnt could be. When things got busy there, it was like people were treated like beasts of burden.
Although Arix was just asking, she was already certain of the answer.
Sims opened his mouth to respond but couldn’t find a way to argue. Finally, he admitted with a sigh, "Yes, it’s very busy. Recently, the insectoids have been aggressively attacking the Alliance’s borders for so unknown reason. Although the casualties aren’t high, the demand for potions has been increasing."
"I’m going to ask my instructor for leave right now. Wait for ," Arix said, starting to head out of the dormitory. She suddenly paused and turned back to Sims, asking, "By the way, should I bring my cousin along?"
"You an Varden? No need. He ca here last night," Sims said, then turned the screen to show Varden, who was busy working nearby.
In the video, Varden’s hair was ssy, and his dark circles were so pronounced that even his glasses couldn’t hide them.
But when he heard Arix’s words, Varden still took a mont to look up. He looked at Arix and said, "Yeah, thank you for wanting to assign
more work, I guess?
