Chapter 261: Who says I want the better option
"Mmmhmm, and as your brother, I'll help you in any way possible to accomplish it." Even if he and Zhang Jian's goals aligned, Lu Chen was still using him.
However, Lu Chen wants to help him achieve his goal. Not because of business, but because they're brothers.
Hearing his words, Zhang Jian felt touched by how kind his brother was. So of that anxiety disappeared.
Seeing this, Lu Chen was going to continue to console him. But before he could, they hear loud sounds of booing coming from the stage!
'What in the world?!' Lu Chen was confused as to why the people were booing so hard.
"Shut up! You guys don't even know what true music is!" After saying this, the contestant quickly ran away from the stage, leaving people to boo him harder!
When the contestant walks backstage, the other contestant looks at him, and his face turns red in embarrassnt. He realizes everybody heard his outburst.
Not wanting to stand there any longer, he pushes Lu Chen and Zhang Jian away, leaving.
Lu Chen brushes his clothes, not minding being pushed. He was more curious as to why he blew up like that. Looking at the screen backstage, he understood why. Lu Chen saw the judges gave him 1/5 stars.
One of them even refused to give the contestant a star. Lu Chen's surprised that the person would get such a low score.
'Oh crap!' Lu Chen didn't have ti to think about others. He turns over to Zhang Jian to see his face all pale!
All that encouragent Lu Chen tried to do went out of the window!
"Do you hear all that booing?!" It was like the crowd turned into a pack of hyenas. They tear that contestant apart!
"What's going to happen to when I go on stage?! That guy was totally prepared and everything!" Before, the guy had been talking, acting all smug. The contestant says that he was born for this. And that he worked hard for the past few years for this mont!
"I've only worked for a couple of months! How can I go up on the stage now?!" Zhang Jian went into full panic mode, wondering what he should do.
'Aww dammit!' Lu Chen curses. He wanted to curse out that contestant right now! He didn't expect the guy to ruin all of his efforts for Zhang Jian.
'Nothing is going to change his mind like this.' Lu Chen has seen this happen once before. With how frazzled Zhang Jian is being, he knows just giving him encouraging words isn't going to work.
"Is this guy going to ss up when he's going to sing?"
"I feel bad for the poor soul who’s going up next. The judges look pissed at the last guy."
"So this guy only has the looks and not the talent."
The backstage workers were shaking their heads. While the other contestants were acting smug against him.
Duan Huiling turns over to them, shutting them up. On the other hand, Lu Chen was ignoring them from the start. He looks at Zhang Jian, "If you don't want to do it, we can just cancel it."
"?" Zhang Jian was confused, while Duan Huiling was surprised.
'Cancel?' Zhang Jian didn't think that not going up was an option.
"It's natural that you don't want to go through with this. To be honest, I think I was too hasty in forcing you into this." Lu Chen didn't account for first-ti jitters to occur. He continues, "We'll go at it more slowly next ti."
"..."
Lu Chen turns over to one of the backstage workers, "He can leave the program, can't he?"
"Yes, he can." The workers have seen these types of things before. Participants have butterflies in their stomachs right before they go up. First-ti jitters are natural.
"Then I want you to-"
"NO!" Before Lu Chen could tell them to process the cancelation, Zhang Jian stood up!
"But look at you? You're all pale and shaking." Lu Chen looks at him weirdly, "You know there are better options for you?"
"Who says I want the better option?!" Zhang Jian slaps himself in the face, "I got this! I don't need to go slowly!" Not taking a chance like this when it's right in front of it?
How could he not take that extra step?!
