The assassins' relentless onslaught targeted Shao Yunduan. Despite Ah-Ye and his brother's valiant efforts, they couldn't hold them off indefinitely.

While the brothers could withstand the assault for a ti, facing eight assailants proved overwhelmingly challenging.

Qiao Xuan's expression darkened as she grasped Shao Yunduan's sleeve, her voice barely a whisper, "Husband, let's take refuge in the water."

Seeking sanctuary in the pond would alleviate so of the pressure on Ah-Ye and the others. Furthermore, it would provide an opportunity for additional assistance to join the fray.

Songshi, clutching a thick bamboo pole, nodded in agreent. "Indeed, Lord. It's our best chance."

"Then let's make our move." Shao Yunduan wasted no ti, disregarding the pond's chill. They plunged into the water, navigating the depths with difficulty.

Bracing himself at the rear, Songshi wielded the bamboo pole defensively, his complexion drained of color.

Anan, initially protesting his father's embrace, continued to resist, delivering feeble punches. Yet, Shao Yunduan remained unmoved, his resolve unyielding. The little one's cries of frustration echoed in the air.

Once subrged, Shao Yunduan released his hold, allowing Anan to perch on his shoulders, his gaze fixed on the watery expanse below.

He gripped Anan firmly with one hand while securing the back of his head with the other, preventing him from turning.

Yet, even this slight glimpse was enough to ignite the little one's excitent as she spotted ducks in the distance, giggling gleefully and exclaiming, "Duck! Duck!"

Qiao Xuan gazed at her son with a mixture of fondness and sorrow, her emotions teetering between laughter and tears.

In this dire mont, only the innocence of this child could elicit a smile...

Witnessing this tender mont, the guard who had shielded them sprang into action, sword drawn, engaging the assailants.

Ah-Ye, honed by rigorous training under Sun Bai and Sun Qian and renowned for his valor during the eradication of mountain bandits, faced off against three assailants alone without faltering.

anwhile, the other two guards struggled to contain the remaining five attackers, caught in a precarious position.

Desperately, the five assailants pressed forward, determined to breach the defense line and reach the safety of the pond. With the trio's defenses wavering, anxiety surged within them, yearning for the reinforcents promised by Sun Bai and his cohorts.

With a resounding splash, an assassin leaped into the water, followed by another.

Cold dread gripped Ah-Ye and his comrades' hearts.

Without hesitation, Ah-Ye wielded his longsword with lightning speed, driving back the trio with forceful strikes. With a swift leap, he plunged into the pond, creating a sizable splash.

The two assailants who had entered the water earlier hadn't made much headway. The water's resistance and muck hindered their movent, diminishing their martial prowess significantly.

Ah-Ye wasted no ti, homing in on one of the subrged assailants and closing the distance with alarming speed. As he closed in, he swiftly drew his sword, driving it into the man's chest. A piercing scream echoed before the assailant succumbed to death, his body sinking into the crimson-stained water.

However, Ah-Ye's montum carried him further, and he too plumted into the water with a resounding splash. Sensing the imminent threat, the remaining assailant attempted to strike—

But his skills paled in comparison to Ah-Ye's, his attack missing its mark.

On the shore, the assassins seethed with fury. "Plop! Plop!" Like a synchronized motion, they leaped into the pond one after another.

Witnessing this, the two guards exchanged a glance before leaping into the water without hesitation.
