Elena and Gabriel teleported back to her room. To Gabriel, the sudden burst in power in Elena was concerning. How a re human like her could teleport was a question he yearned to ask.

"Where have you been?" He asked instead. She had been missing for a day without a trace!

Elena’s lips moved to say sothing when the door suddenly flew open. A stupefied Darion stood there, his eyes bulging out in disbelief.

"My lady?" He called, taking a step inside. His eyes scanned her from foot to head, only believing it was her when he touched her hand, sothing that didn’t settle well with Gabriel.

"She’s alive," he said to break the ice. "What do you have?"

Darion’s hands rested on his back. "The council has called a eting in the throne hall to plan the defenses. The vampires have camped outside the gates."

"I don’t think my presence will be required," Elena chipped.

"Trust , your presence is more needed now than ever," Darion replied before he left with a now.

Gabriel led her outside before she followed him to the throne hall. The gallery was full with counciln and won, and royal army commanders. Everyone was discussing in low tones when the herald announced.

"Her Majesty, Queen Elena Thornhart and her husband, prince Gabriel."

The whole court rose to their feet as the double doors swung open to reveal the duo. Walking side by side, they walked past the counciln until Elena sat on the throne. Gabriel stood by her side as the counciln took their seats.

Today, Gabriel noticed she didn’t waver. Her head was held high, her steps organized as if she’d been doing this her whole life. A proud smile curved on his lips.

"Report!" She ordered.

The captain stepped forward, his hand resting on the hilt of his sword. After giving a bow, he said, "We were afraid you’d never return, Your Majesty. You honor us with your presence."

Elena simply gave him a nod of acknowledgent before the captain continued.

"The casualties were minimal. We lost fifty n, but for every one of ours, they lost triple." There was pride in his voice.

"Your Highness’s performance in the battlefield was outstanding," he added, looking at Gabriel.

Elena’s grip on the edges of the throne tightened, leaning forward just enough to catch the captain’s attention.

"Yet you left him for dead when you couldn’t hold the incoming hoard!" Her eyes settled coldly on the captain as if allowing the words to beco a part of him.

"We did what we had to do to save Mysthaven," he replied in defense.

"Tell . If it was in the battlefield, would you have left behind when retreating?" She asked.

The captain’s eyes shot. This was a question everyone knew the answer to but answering it would only prove her right. He searched around for help but no one dared to interrupt. This version of the queen ant business, one they had never seen before.

"I didn’t think so either," she said when the captain couldn’t answer.

"The walls will hold for now. I trust we have enough supplies to last us that long."

"I’m afraid we don’t have enough supplies to last us for a week, Your Majesty," a councilman reported.

"We’re going to die," another one cried.

"Let’s give them the bastard," another suggested, receiving murmurs of approval in the gallery.

Elena stood up, her fists clenched. "Gabriel is not going anywhere! He’s here to stay!" She said aloud, the hall falling into silence.

"No one is going to take him away from ."

"But it is him they want," the captain pointed.

"And then what? The vampires have been starved for almost a month now. Do you think they’ll just walk away because they got one of their own? They’ll need blood, and this city is the only place they can get it!"

"If there’s nothing else," Elena said before she walked out of the throne hall. Gabriel trailed closely behind her, still not a word from him.

"Your silence is killing ," Elena admitted as they walked back into her room. Before she could say anything else, Gabriel closed the door behind him and pulled her. Her back crashed with the door before his lips sealed hers in a heated passionate kiss.

She reciprocated with the sa energy until they were both breathless. Her eyes searched his golden ones, her hands caressing his face. She studied his features up close. A sharp jaw, thin lips that she was tempted to kiss forever, a sharp nose... Oh, and his eyes. She simply couldn’t take her eyes off his golden ones.

"What you did back there," he said, caressing her hands, "No one has ever stood up for like you did, not even my father!"

"A sad thing for a man to admit. I’d choose you over and over again, every fucking ti," he swore, his warm breath making her body quiver in need.

She leaned close to his ear and whispered. "I just have the right way you need to repay ," she said, leaning back to give him a flirtatious wink.

"Naughty, aren’t you?" Gabriel asked, picking the hint.

Their eyes montarily locked, their desire burning equally in their gazes. And as if drawn by a force unspoken, they kissed, hungrily this ti. Gabriel’s hands flew to her back, working on her stripes already. His fingers clumsily freed her from the dress she was wearing.

The soft material landed on the floor leaving her with nothing but her chemise. He stepped back to have a look. Her usually cream skin was radiant, the mark on her neck pulsating as if calling to him.

"You like what you see?" She asked, her tongue running over her fangs. And in that brief mont, Gabriel spotted it: a pair of fangs!

His deanor changed, albeit montarily. He had this nostalgic feeling she was acting differently but now he had all the proof in front of his eyes. And who could go to such lengths to have him in her pants if not Kara?
