The glowing panels hovered in my vision—[Status] and [Inventory]—but I ignored them, my focus locked onto the cryptic ssage of the hidden scenario instead.

My fingers tapped restlessly against the desk as I reread the title and the description:

"A Bloom Beneath the Ashes - A Light in the Abyss."

"Even in the bleakest void, a single act of defiance can spark a pulse—a fragile hope to a soul long forgotten..."

The words etched themselves into my mind, digging in deeper the more I read.

A light in the abyss...?

I leaned back in the chair slowly, the springs creaking beneath as I exhaled.

So, apparently, sothing I did lit a spark for soone. Soone who had no hope. No light left.

...Who?

The question itched like a splinter in my thoughts.

Could it be soone from the orphanage? Maybe one of the older kids? No, they were already hopeful in their own way—resilient, even if life was hard. A custor from the shop? Unlikely. Most were regulars, and none seed particularly "lost." And I didn't exactly know one that well too.

Or maybe… no, wait—was it Vex?

I snorted softly. No. That one's a stretch. He didn't strike as the "find hope and change your life" kind of guy. If anything, he'd probably monetize hope and sell it to the highest bidder.

Then... who exactly are they?

The description continued: "To kindle such hope in the deepest dark is to invite the gaze of the abyss itself."

I stared at the words a little longer, then sighed through my nose.

So, my actions—whatever they were—had given hope to soone who had none. And now, because of that, sothing worse was coming for .

The abyss.

Was it a taphor? For evil? For chaos? For so higher force in this strange world's tangled fate?

Or… was it literal?

I rubbed at my temple slowly.

"Sotis," I muttered, "knowing just enough to be scared, but not enough to understand... is the worst curse of all."

But despite it all, despite the uncertainty and the vague threat looming at the edge of that ssage…

I smiled faintly. I gave soone hope after all.

And whoever it was...

I hoped they'd be okay.

"I hope that light doesn't fade."

A selfish thought followed.

"And I hope it doesn't get them—or —killed."

The words Fifth Storyline glared back at from the fading ssage, those three question marks pulsing like a heartbeat.

First it was Aeron with Emilia and Livia, then Zephyr and Luna, then Cassandra and the princess, and our honorary custodian Nolan and the fiery sun Shaela...

A wry smile tugged at my lips.

So this makes five.

And, whoever this mystery person was, they wouldn't be so background extra. Not if their existence or my connection to them—unlocked an entire storyline. They'd be important. A protagonist, probably. Or soone like Princess Sara, whose life and death held a huge impact on the storyline.

But why the question marks? Is it a secret?

The ??? in the storyline's title seed to mock .

Guess I'll find out after the update.

Assuming the System would work like back then, the first update.

I sighed, rubbing my eyes. The last ti it happened, it was quick—almost a day, and everything was back with a new style and rewards.

But this warning felt different. "Estimated reactivation: Unknown."

Not exactly reassuring.

At least it left with sothing useful. It probably wanted to compensate for the sudden update in its own way.

Thank you, system.

My gaze shifted to the two remaining panels—[Status] and [Inventory].

The most classic System clichés, but they are also the most indispensable.

I focused on [Status] first.

━━━◇◆◇━━━

A satisfied smile tugged at my lips as I scanned the [Status] panel.

This changes everything.

No more racking my brain to rember every skill, no more scribbling notes in the margins of textbooks. Everything was laid out here—clear, organized, imdiate. The System might be cryptic, but at least it was thorough.

My gaze lingered on the White Lotus Style entry. Interdiate -> Advanced. So my fight with Vex had pushed closer to mastery. Good to know.

But the real prize was the [Inventory].

I focused on it, and the new panel materialized:

━━━◇◆◇━━━

[Inventory]

Slots Available: 10

Current Items: None

"Pockets of the cosmos, now at your disposal."

━━━◇◆◇━━━

Ten slots. Not infinite, but more than enough for essentials.

Ti for a test.

I grabbed the nearest object—a half-empty inkwell from my desk—and focused.

Store.

The inkwell shimred, its edges blurring like a mirage, before vanishing into thin air. In the [Inventory] panel, a new entry appeared:

[Inkwell (Half-Full, Black Ink)]

Huh. Even notes the quantity.

Retrieving it was just as seamless. A thought, and the inkwell reappeared in my palm, cool and familiar.

No spills. No changes.

Perfect.

Next, sothing larger. I unsheathed one of my training daggers and willed it into the inventory. The blade dissolved into motes of light, then reford in the list:

[Iron Dagger (Standard-Issue)]

I summoned it back—and froze.

The dagger was cold. Not just room-temperature cool, but chilled, as if it had been left in a winter breeze. A faint sheen of frost coated the blade, evaporating seconds after appearing.

"...Pockets of the cosmos," the description had said.

Was my inventory literally elsewhere? So void between stars?

A shiver ran down my spine.

Note to self: Don't store perishables before experinting.

Still, the functionality was undeniable. No more lugging around heavy packs or worrying about losing gear. It would work well with surprises, too.

For example, if Vex had thoroughly checked that ti, I would have a hard ti freeing myself. But if I had Inventory, I wouldn't have to worry about it. Because it's not an item but a power similar to an ability and skill.

Others can't see or take away from it. Just like knowledge.

Although nothing is impossible in fantasy stories...

I closed the panels with a quiet thought, my fingers tightening around the cold hilt of the dagger.

Whatever waited in the abyss—whatever story was about to unfold—I wouldn't face it empty-handed. And—

If my actions lit a spark of hope… then I suppose I'll be the fool holding the fla.
