Jenson Forrest’s thin lips pressed together, "Is it really that important? That child won’t affect our lives in the future..."
The man frowned slightly, clearly unwilling to bring up this topic.
He also didn’t understand why Zinnia Lawrence insisted on getting to the bottom of it.
The child wasn’t his, and in the future, the child wouldn’t live with them.
After so ti, when the child is born, she would naturally know.
But Zinnia’s nose turned red, and she said aggrievedly and angrily, "But the existence of that child has already affected our lives! I’m your wife, right? If you want to accept and tolerate the child of your ex-girlfriend’s everlasting love, shouldn’t you at least tell why? Or is it because you haven’t gotten over Crystal Sutton, that you even feel the need to take care of soone else’s child she’s carrying?"
Her anger flared up again because of the man’s evasive attitude. Zinnia shook off Jenson’s hand, stood up, and continued.
"Crystal Sutton, relying on the precious babe in her belly, stirs up trouble every day. Do you really think she’ll settle down once the child is born?
You want our child to be siblings with that child, and Crystal Sutton will always linger like a haunting ghost around . I don’t want to live such a life for even a day.
If you continue with this attitude, please be gracious and let Coco and leave. I just want a simple and peaceful life!"
Her determination was unwavering; even though she loved Jenson deeply and had many attachnts, she was tired and bored.
That wasn’t the life she wanted or the future she looked forward to.
Zinnia spoke in frustration and turned to leave.
Jenson frowned, raised his hand to grab the woman’s arm, pulling her back.
Zinnia turned uncontrollably, stumbling a step toward him. The man sat on the edge of the bed, with his long legs spread in a domineering manner, trapping Zinnia between them, rendering her immobile.
"Get up! You’re driving crazy; be careful, I might get physical!"
Zinnia gritted her teeth, but Jenson held her clenched little fist, frowning as he spoke.
"Who told you that Crystal Sutton was my ex-girlfriend? When did I ever have that kind of relationship with her? I’m unaware of such a thing."
Zinnia was stunned, her mind like a bomb had been dropped in it, leaving her in a blank state.
Her body involuntarily relinquished its strength, and she stupidly stared at Jenson.
"Weren’t you already together overseas?"
Jenson had gone abroad to study at the age of seventeen, and within a couple of years, Crystal Sutton had been sent over by her family as well.
During that ti, the ti zone difference and the distance made it inevitable for Zinnia to have less contact with Jenson, feeling like her brother was gradually drifting further away from her.
But also during that ti, Crystal Sutton often sent photos to Zinnia of Jenson in various settings, like on campus, at banquets, and at the overseas branch office.
She’d also talk about things between her and Jenson.
"Sister, today Jenson is having his graduation ceremony, and he invited . His friends and classmates will be there. Which dress do you think I should wear? I’m so nervous."
"Sister, Jenson is about to officially take over the overseas branch. Do you think this tie is suitable for him?"
Crystal Sutton would also post ambiguous updates on social dia.
"Next week is soone’s birthday, the first one since we’ve been officially together. I’ve prepared my first kiss, hoping it’ll surprise him."
The accompanying image was a work photo of Jenson.
Zinnia still rembers her helpless state when she saw that social dia post.
She was in the college cafeteria, having just got her al.
With a sudden motion, the steel tray dropped to the floor, creating a ss, and her leg was burned in a large spot; everyone was watching her.
But she couldn’t care about those strange looks, nor the pain. Clutching her phone, she squatted on the floor, crying her heart out.
Before his birthday, she wouldn’t believe it, nor did she want to believe it.
She had tried calling him, but could never get through.
Clinging to that last shred of hope, she secretly bought a plane ticket with the gifts she had prepared long ago and flew overseas.
And then, she saw Crystal Sutton running toward Jenson holding a bouquet of roses, Jenson smiling as he accepted it, and the two of them leaving together.
Later, Crystal passionately pursuing Jenson and the news of their being together indeed made its way back to Veridia from abroad.
Yet, now Jenson was flatly denying it.
"When I was abroad, I was too busy to catch enough sleep, let alone find ti for a relationship?"
Jenson scoffed lightly and added, "This whole ex-girlfriend thing, I won’t have in my lifeti, almost ended up being my ex-wife instead."
Zinnia wasn’t in the mood to joke with him; she tugged on Jenson’s shirt collar.
"You’re lying. On your twenty-second birthday, you accepted roses from Crystal Sutton right in front of , and she linked arms with you to attend a candlelit dinner!"
She had witnessed it herself, how could it be wrong?
Jenson’s eyebrows knitted together again; he didn’t rember what Zinnia was talking about, yet she made him laugh with anger.
"Hmph, Zinnia, I’m not that desperate!"
"What do you an?"
"When I was twenty-two, Crystal Sutton was only sixteen. Even if I wanted a relationship, there was no way I’d go after a minor like that!"
The man was visibly angry, flicking his fingers at Zinnia’s forehead in frustration.
Zinnia held her forehead, her face showing an inexplicable mix of expressions.
Like she wanted to laugh, or cry; she still had so grievances and distress.
"But you did accept her roses and let her link arms with you to dine in a restaurant on your birthday, such an important day."
Jenson furrowed his brows, thinking carefully, and vaguely rembered the event. He explained with a hint of helplessness.
"That day, Simon Sutton and Mandy Lowe also t for so matters; the roses were actually bought by Crystal Sutton for her mom. Her hand was injured, I was just helping to take them for her.
Later, the flight was delayed, and I had so things to attend to, so the dinner wasn’t finished. As for her linking arms with , I really don’t rember."
After saying this, the man’s eyes narrowed slightly.
"How do you know all this? It’s as if you saw it with your own eyes."
Zinnia, "..."
At that mont, she recalled only seeing that scene, wandering lost in a foreign street, crying like a tearful ss.
She felt like a complete fool, spinning in circles by Crystal Sutton’s tricks.
She didn’t want to tell Jenson how heartbroken and concerned she was at the ti.
Considering how cooperative Jenson was being now, she was more eager to know about Crystal Sutton’s pregnancy situation.
"Of course, I know because Crystal Sutton was broadcasting it everywhere. Since she’s not your ex, there’s even less reason for you to care about the child she’s carrying."
Back to the topic, Jenson’s thin lips pressed together.
"My concern for that child is due to the child’s father, it has nothing to do with Crystal Sutton."
Zinnia’s breath tightened and she urged, looking at the man, "Then you need to clarify it for . If it’s an ordinary child, I could naturally treat it with an ordinary heart, but I hate Crystal Sutton. You’ve seen it; she will never truly settle. She and I are destined not to coexist; it’s like fate.
I’m not a saint; I detest her! Bearing this grudge, you want to accept her child, and accepting her child ans accepting Crystal Sutton as the mother who will always intrude into my life, causing havoc constantly.
If I stay here, enduring everything, I’ll feel like I’m compromising and foolish unless you explain... mmph!"
Zinnia’s words were cut off as the man held the back of her neck and kissed her.
