The Red Viel were known throughout the continent for their bloodthirsty nature. Everyone feared them for it, and there were even rumors that they couldn’t sleep without tasting blood.

They were humans, but far worse than vampires when it ca to blood.

Yet, these sa ruthless, bloodthirsty people had been doing all kinds of bizarre things because of their new boss. They hadn’t killed a single person in the last decade, since Aegon never went out and never ordered them to leave either.

But no one complained.

In fact, they enjoyed their ti together with their new boss. Unlike the rumors, they didn’t really enjoy killing and had also grown tired of seeing only blood all around, so the change that Aegon brought was refreshing.

He gave them all kinds of tasks they could easily do, but they still had fun with them because they were new things for them. Sothing that kept them curious and excited for a long ti.

Most of those tasks were related to the construction of sothing, though.

So, the Red Viel, a group who once only knew blood, were now a construction group that made all kinds of things that their boss ordered them to.

It was a bizarre change, but definitely a welcoming one.

Just like right now. They had only heard of terrace farming while passing by so village and never bothered with it. After all, what did farming have to do with these killing machines? They only knew how to farm lives.

But now they were making it, and they were very excited for it. It was sothing new which kept them interested. But they didn’t show much on their faces, ’cause they didn’t have one in their current form.

The only problem was...

"Are you trying to show off your strength? Wanna arm wrestle? Eh?"

Jason, one of the Red Viel mbers who had been called upon by Hecte for this grand task, heard the mocking voice of his boss and flinched.

He slowly turned to look at what he had done and cursed himself, ’Damn it! Why are you so soft?’

Apparently, Aegon had given them the task to make the steps necessary for terrace farming, and Jason was given the task to dig the flat surface of the step.

Unfortunately, he couldn’t control his strength properly and made a crater in the spot where he was supposed to make the step.

He stared at it with nervousness and then shouted, "Baldy, co here and fill the earth."

A shadow swiftly slid over close to them and slowly the crater began to fill again. Jason even put back the soil he had dug up.

Then, he turned towards Aegon and said, "Everything’s under control, Boss."

Aegon rolled his eyes at him and said, "Get back to work and do better this ti. The length and width should be 60 tres and 4 tres respectively. Also, the height should be 2 tres."

Aegon had spent quite so ti studying the asurents needed for each step, as he wanted to make them as stable as possible, and this suited the best for this side of slope.

It would differ from place to place, so he would need to asure and calculate again. But for now, he hoped these people would rember his words.

As Jason got back to work, Aegon went over to check how others were doing... and just as he expected, one of them had ssed up just like Jason.

He facepald and reprimanded them before leaving them to their work. He had other things to do too.

On the top, he found Hecte waiting for him with many rocks around her. She seed confused, so she asked upon seeing him, "Boss, are these for borders?"

"Yup," Aegon nodded and said, as he picked up a rock. "We need to make sure soil doesn’t erode away from the rainwater. It happens quite often."

"Is that so?" Hecte muttered in understanding. "But I’m still confused why we can’t just use our magic to make it quickly?"

If they used their magic, the work here would be done quickly, but Aegon had told them to use minimal strength and little to no magic unless it was used in situations like Jason’s.

"Two reasons," Aegon replied while checking the rocks. "First is because you guys enjoy this. Just see their faces. You can tell all of them are excited."

Hecte stared at her colleagues, the people who had once slaughtered their way through big armies, now struggling with basic stuff. It was a funny sight, but she could see they were enjoying it.

She had co to understand her group more in the last decade than she ever had in battlefields. They were just a bunch of kids who had their childhood snatched away by the world, so now they were enjoying these small things life had to offer them.

It ant nothing for others, but she knew the value of these small silly things for her colleagues. After all, she wasn’t much different from them. She was just good at hiding her emotions.

She returned her gaze to the young man studying the rocks with such a serious expression and rembered the day he had taken over their group.

All of them had mixed feelings back then because they didn’t really want to serve anyone else other than Chen Xiu, because in their mind, only she deserved their loyalty. But they were also curious about serving the Last Valerian.

Though, it was a fact they only agreed to serve him because of Xiu. If she gave the Order of Command to Aegon, then they would simply do as she wished.

Who would have known that this fine gentleman would change them so much?

In the past decade, they never really fought anyone, yet they always remained entertained and motivated enough to work on their progress.

Apparently, every single one of them had decided to work extra hard so they could protect their new boss who seed to give them a third life.

The first was where they lived a cruel life as abandoned orphans who were forced to work in the Underworld from a young age. The second was when Xiu entered their life and made the Red Viel for them. That was when they truly began to understand their own value.

The third was given by Aegon, who showed them so many things that they slowly realized what they had missed while working as rcenaries.

All of them loved to work for Aegon and for his strange ideas, but it didn’t an they neglected their old lifestyle. Their training had beco much more fierce.

All because they wanted to protect their young boss.
