Morning arrived, bringing an end to the celebration and marking the start of a new era. Although it wasn’t introduced to the world, everyone agreed to this day being the first day of the new era.
Samuel officially nad it the Golden Age, and its first day the Glorious Rise. Hence, the day’s na beca the Glorious One.
Aegon stood at the entrance gate, looking at Samuel whose entire presence seed to have undergone a change. Nobody else noticed it, but he did.
"Old man, did you make a choice yesterday?" he asked.
"You’re annoyingly perceptive," Samuel snorted and turned toward the east. Though the twilight sky didn’t allow the sun’s arrival, Aegon could feel it rising there.
It was a strange feeling.
"So, what is it?" Aegon asked, still very curious.
"I’m not telling you," Samuel shook his head and said. "It’s sothing I must do. And I’ll see it through."
Aegon narrowed his eyes, feeling suspicious of him. He asked, "Why do I feel like I won’t be seeing you anyti soon?"
"It’s because you won’t," Samuel replied. "If I’m doing what I plan to do, I’ll be busier than ever. I won’t have ti to mingle like this anymore, but that’s fine by . It’s my responsibility, and I plan to shoulder it."
Aegon felt as if he was growing distant. Sothing had changed within him, but it was for the best. He felt glad that at least he was able to give him a few hours of peace and warmth.
"Your grandfather has found a few things," Samuel said. "Important ones that will keep him busy too. But for now, he’s out of imdiate danger."
"He left the Nightmare Desert?" Aegon’s eyes brightened. "Really?"
"Yes," Samuel nodded. "But he can’t co back yet. Things are worse than we thought. I can’t tell you his location, so don’t ask that."
"Any particular reason?"
"There are divination powers in this world, not to ntion more bizarre creatures who can do things outside your imagination. One such creature you saw in the Void Chamber."
Aegon rembered it clearly, as he had felt pure dread that day. Not to ntion even the system was riled up upon its presence. He didn’t wish to see it ever again, even if he was curious about it.
"We can protect our minds, but you are different. So it’s best that you don’t know about this if you wish for his safety."
Aegon nodded in understanding. He was worried about his Opa, but he didn’t want to put him in danger. Samuel and Arnold were doing sothing big, sothing related to the demons which also involved his grandmother.
The scope of things was beyond him, so even if he wanted to help them, there was nothing he could do. He was too weak.
Samuel saw his expression and put his hand over his head, rubbing it lightly. "Don’t make that face. The problems are of the past, so let us old fossils deal with them. You’re a man of the future, so focus on making it better. That’s all we want from you."
Aegon lowered his head, feeling privileged to be patted by him. Although they behaved like friends of the sa age, he did consider Samuel as his grandfather too. And who didn’t want affection from their grandfather?
"I’ll try my best," he promised.
"That’s good," Samuel smiled. "Of course, if you need anything, just call . If I don’t pick up, then Mike is there too."
Just then, Arthur and Liliana also walked out and found them. As they ca closer, Samuel said, "Arthur, I know this was your break, but I need you back on the battlefield."
"Things are about to get hectic, huh," Arthur didn’t need an explanation to understand the undercurrents. "Are you and... Father planning sothing?"
"Kind of. It’ll probably agitate the demons if things go wrong," Samuel glanced at Aegon and said. "Ti is also running out. If what he collected is true, then we need to speed up and focus on our defenses. Be alert."
Arthur’s expression hardened. "You needn’t worry, Your Majesty. With there, the demons stand no chance of pushing our lines."
He turned toward Aegon and said, "And I’ve already achieved everything from this short break. I’m ready to fight again, much better than before."
"That’s good to know," Samuel said. "Make sure others understand the gravity of the situation, but don’t alarm them either. It might reach the demons too."
"I’ll take care of that. Besides, I also need to find those brats," Arthur sighed. "I don’t know where they disappeared."
"They’re safe," Liliana said, before facing Samuel. "I will also help."
"You will?" Samuel was surprised. "I thought you wanted to catch up with this brat."
"He doesn’t have ti for that," Liliana answered. "Besides, he just needs to call once and I’ll be there."
"Makes sense," Samuel smiled. "You don’t know how happy I am with your decisions. We really needed you, especially in these tis."
"It involves my children’s future, Your Majesty," Liliana said calmly. "And I don’t play with that."
"Your Majesty, I have a request," Arthur said, his eyes darkening. "Please take care of the Songsword Family, otherwise I will have to take action myself."
It was a threat to Samuel, sothing Arthur would never normally do as he greatly respected the man and his status. But this involved Aegon, so there were bound to be exceptions.
Nonetheless, Samuel simply waved his hand, saying, "You think too little of . Now I’ll leave before I deform your face for that."
Arthur bowed as Samuel dispersed into particles of light, his hand patting Aegon being the last to disappear. Feeling the warmth fade, Aegon sighed and turned toward the other two.
"You two really don’t seem like a divorced couple," he said, still finding their relationship a bit odd.
"We were friends before marrying each other," Arthur said. "A divorce doesn’t an I lose that friend. It simply ans we weren’t compatible as a couple."
"I still wouldn’t understand, but whatever," Aegon smiled and said. "Anyways, it was nice eting you. I’m sure Xiu would also see you off if she hadn’t drunk so much."
