When the whole journal was translated, they placed the original back into its position. It was useless to them now, considering they couldn’t even take it outside.

Although the runes in it weren’t in a proper structure, the world would still react to them, especially since they had sohow survived against its ire.

"I’ll co back to find what that guy used for this," Aegon said. "It’ll be useful to make readymade spells. Sothing like talismans."

"Talismans? Like those papers religious people distribute, saying it increases luck?" Liliana blinked in confusion.

"Yes, but this ti it’s real," Aegon nodded. "We can equip the soldiers with them. Imagine thousands of soldiers throwing giant fireballs in mid-battle. Total devastation."

"Interesting idea," Liliana muttered as she rubbed her chin. "Let work on this. It’s been forever since I worked properly on any project. As your ntor, I can’t fall behind too much, can I?"

"First help with my problem first."

"Want to continue here?"

Aegon looked around the treasury, which had beco their ho. He had beco a little used to this place, so he would definitely miss it.

’I also got used to feeling mundane again without thinking much about my past life. Guess this one also got cleared after remaining here for so long.’

He was glad for it.

Giving it a last look, he said, "Let’s go back to the surface."

They collected everything they had brought inside and transferred it outside. Things went faster with Liliana helping him. She packed everything, so he just needed to move everything back to the surface, where he threw everything into the storage ring.

The system had given him a storage ring with massive storage once, so he didn’t think twice before doing it. There was plenty of space left in it.

Once everything was out, they climbed back through the stairs they had co through and felt the barrier shimr around them. The feeling of the world surrounding them returned, along with strength coursing through their veins.

’This is so much better. Being mundane is fine, but this power gives you confidence. I love it.’

Aegon soon felt the shadows caressing him, which made him smile as he climbed faster and soon reached the surface. The familiar hut welcod him, as Liliana soon ca floating beside him.

A dark shadow rose from the ground, towering over both of them easily. Its gaze ca from the eyes hidden beneath the curtain of darkness.

"Yo! How have you been?" Aegon grinned, raising his hand for a high-five.

Hecte had long beco used to his antics, so a tendril of shadow rose to et his hand as her voice sounded from all sides.

"I’m fine. Though waiting for you was quite boring."

Then her gaze shifted towards the crimson-eyed woman beside him as she said, her voice turning soft, "Lady Liliana. Forgive for not greeting you that day."

"It’s fine, Hecte," Liliana waved her hand. "I’m just glad to see you after all this ti."

"Likewise."

"Woah! Woah!" Aegon exclaid. "Since when did you beco so soft towards others, Hecte?"

He was genuinely surprised, as Hecte didn’t care about anyone else other than him, Xiu, and Arnold. She even gave cold shoulders to his friends, though she did say she would save them because of him.

"Lady Liliana is very kind towards Chief and is a big sister figure to her. Chief also respects her greatly, so it’s only natural I give her respect too," Hecte replied.

"There’s more at play here, isn’t there?" Aegon narrowed his eyes at the giant shadow. "Out with it."

"It’s nothing, Aegon. It just so happens that I also trained them," Liliana giggled and said. "Back then, Xiu brought them as kids who were ruthless and determined, but clumsy."

The dark shadow shrank back and said, "Chief didn’t want Lord Arnold or anyone else to find out about us. We didn’t have good past records, after all. So Lady Liliana was the one who gave us shelter and taught us how to fight properly."

"Of course, these barbarians forgot everything and used Xiu’s style," Liliana clicked her tongue and said. "A bunch of disappointnts. Where are the other brats?"

"I expected Boss to give us missions to search for things after he ca up, so I sent them to different parts of the world. It doesn’t matter what he demands, we can quickly bring it to him."

"I see. Not a complete disappointnt then," Liliana smiled. "Protect him well, Hecte. I know I asked the sa back then for Xiu, but I’m asking this again."

"The Red Viel has sworn their loyalty to Boss," Hecte replied as her shadow grew once again. "As long as even one of us is alive, Boss will remain safe."

"That reminds , do you have a spot open?" Liliana asked after thinking for a bit. "There’s soone I hope you can train. She’s a good kid, but I didn’t focus on her properly."

"I’m sorry, but I’ll have to refuse that, Lady Liliana," Hecte replied. "I’m not leaving Boss’s shadow, and I’ll only train soone who joins Red Viel."

"I understand that," Liliana nodded. "That’s why I’m asking. You see, I put her on a mission to guard Aegon, but she couldn’t do it properly because of you. Now she can remain close and in the open while you train her. She can also protect him like you."

"If that’s the case, then I have no problem. Please tell her about our conditions and I’ll let her join us," Hecte replied. "If you’re recomnding her, we can trust her."

"Thanks."

With that, Hecte lted into shadow and rged with Aegon’s shadow. It looked completely ordinary, except it was a bit darker than usual.

"Why are all of you sending so many people to stalk ?" Aegon asked, rolling his eyes. "So many eyes always watching ."

"It’s for a reason, Aegon," Liliana said, her voice turning serious. "You already know about your grandmother. If demons could target her, then they would also co after you. We’ve already seen this."

She patted his shoulder and said, "We’re just making sure the past doesn’t repeat itself. And I’m assuring you, the demons won’t succeed again. Not this ti."
