2 weeks After, Cetery

Sam sat in the backseat of a black car with tinted windows, dressed in a black dress. She was listening to the last words of the Sharpe Family at the Cetery, while they sent Rona to her final rest.

Sam wanted to get out of that car and personally send her condolences, she wanted to apologize for what happened. She wanted to make ands. But she couldn’t. She couldn’t because so of the press were there, covering the scene.

And she was advised against being seen in her state, blind.

Elle had taken care of everything at Guy’s, and the Board understood what she was going through, it was a tough experience after all. They told her that she could take all the ti she needed to recover. They, of course, weren’t completely aware that she was blind. Elle made up a story saying she was injured in a different way. A way that would be difficult for her to move around, that wasn’t a complete lie altogether.

After all, Sam can’t exactly move around as she pleased. It was hard, she had always relied on her vision. And it had never failed her... Until then.

So she sat there, just listening. Wondering what would happen now to Rona’s family. She was just 25 young, a University student taking Economics, she worked part-ti as her dog walker. She was a lovely girl, Mo liked her.

And there she was, dead.

In a coffin.

A life taken, future stolen.

The car’s passenger door opened and Elle sat beside the driver. The brunette turned to Sam at the backseat, "I sent your condolences to the Family. Don’t worry, I’ll make sure they will be taken care of," she assured, earning a nod from the redhead.

...

Hours later, 7 Eastbourne Rd.

Mrs. Whitehall stood inside Levi’s living room, dusting when she noticed his phone ringing by the coffee table.

"Levi, dear. Your phone," she said.

Levi humd, hazel eyes glued on the microscope in the kitchen. "It does that." He said, too focused on the experint. He was studying the consistency of human earwax, post, and premortem.

Seconds after, they hear soone coming up the stairs, feet pounding on each step.

"Levi!" Marco’s voice echoed from the stairs, and the door opened shortly.

Marco walked in the flat, eyes searching for the blond psychologist.

"There you are. You’re not answering your phone," he said, as he walked in the kitchen.

"Busy," Levi said, almost finished with his work all he needs to do is store it in the freezer and observe.

Marco huffed in annoyance. "Sam’s missing." He said, earning a look from the psychologist. Levi scanned Marco, reading him. He could tell it wasn’t kidnapping of so sort, the doctor simply had a stern look on his face. Anxious? Yes. But panic wasn’t present. So he reckons it wasn’t anything life-threatening.

"Elle called , saying she was just gone. They were at the morgue, they ca to see Mo, one last ti." Marco explained. Levi cocked his brow "Did you call her?" he asked.

"Yes," Marco admitted, earning a confused look from the psychologist.

"And? Hurry up, I have better things to do." Levi barked, annoyed at the interruption.

"She said, she just wants to be alone. But you know, she can’t be left alone...she’s..." Marco trailed, but Levi interrupted.

"So, she left. Fed up with the attention, most likely with Elle, I would be too. She’ll be back in no ti." the Irishman said.

Marco looked at him sternly, "Levi," he said firmly. And they locked eyes, "She’s blind. She’s not supposed to be alone. She needs--" Marco stated.

Levi scoffed, "You’re the one who told , you can’t tell what soone needs Marco. She wants to be alone, she said so herself. Leave. Her. alone." He stated simply, ending the conversation by getting back to his experint.

Marco fisted his hand, annoyed at the blond’s antics. He could at least pretend to be worried, and not just brush off the woman. At least try calling her himself, but his experints are more important. What a dick.

"Ughh! You’re hopeless! At least text if she cos here! I’m going to try and find her." the bearded man huffed, walking out.

Levi walked towards the window, and he watched Marco get in his car and drive away. Certain that the doctor was out of sight, Levi ran to his room and changed, grabbing his coat on his way out the door, and running down the stairs in 5minutes flat.

....

Greenwich Park

Sam sat there, cold breeze hitting her body. Winter was starting early, Sam thought.

Red hair swaying, green eyes staring at nothing, her hand tightly holding Mo’s collar.

She couldn’t even see him one last ti. All she could do was touch him, his body was cold and rigid, but his fur was soft under her fingertips. At least in her mind, she could still playback all the ti he was with her. Excitedly wagging his tail, seated by the door waiting for her to enter.

At the morgue, Elle told her that Mo looked like he was just sleeping.

He looked exactly as he should be, Sam thought. But he wasn’t supposed to be sleeping, Mo was supposed to be beside her; ease the burden, make the transition easier sohow. He was supposed to keep her company.

The vet explained that the drug made his heart stop, exactly what happened to her a week previous. Unfortunately, no one was there to revive him.

And he died.

Murdered, she thought.

Sitting there in the park alone, she could still feel his fur against her fingers, when she ran her hand against him one last ti. Tears flowed down Sam’s face freely, and for the first ti since all that shit happened, she let herself grieve.

She was never going to see him again. He won’t sleep at the foot of her bed anymore. Bark and wag his tail in greeting when she cos ho. There will be no walks.

No treats.

No fetch.

No, "how’s your day been, bud?"

"How about we visit Levi? You wanna see Levi?"

She cried silently in her seat, wiping her tears with a handkerchief in hand.

Then her body stiffened, the mont she felt soone sit on her bench. And she subtly reached for the pepper spray in her purse. She was afraid, afraid that she was powerless.
