Guy’s Hospital

Sam waltzed into her office, only to find Elle there placing files on her desk. Her mobile pressed against her ear, and she was giggling, and a smile was evident on her unassuming face.

It didn’t take a genius to figure out Elle was talking to her secret boyfriend, flirtatiously laughing at whatever he had said on the other line.

The redhead cracked a smile herself; it was the first relaxed smile she had since the morning she realized she was in love with her friend/lover a few days ago. That should have been good news, wasn’t it? He had been clear to her after all about his feelings towards her, about him fancying her.

But that was her main problem now.

He ’fancied’ her.

In contrast, she was ’in love’ with him.

They are both in a completely different realm of emotions, she realized. Sothing that had kept her up the past few nights.

Too most, having a brain faster than so of the world’s best supercomputers may sound like a blessing. But at tis like that, Sam hated it. Like a problem or an equation, as long as she couldn’t solve it or find an answer, it tended to stay in her head. Continuing to nag her, distract her from both her work and sleep.

His words in France were playing over and over in her mind, "I’m not even saying I love you." Which at the ti gave her a sense of relief but in her current situation was the bane of her. Karma really is a bitch, she realized.

This is why she didn’t like complications.

It complicated things.

Elle whipped around suddenly sensing her presence, "Good morning" she greeted with a smile reaching her eyes. "Good morning..." Sam replied, sending her a halfhearted smile. She had failed to concentrate on her work since then, which happened to be three days ago, and even her assistant had noticed her seemingly ’out of it’ attitude. Deep in thought.

Which seed to not be about a case.

"Sothing wrong?" Elle asked, softly, after saying her goodbye to the man on the other line.

"Nope." Sam dismissed too quickly to be convincing.

Elle looked at her "You can talk to , you know?" she said, placing a cup of freshly brewed coffee on her desk.

Sam noticed the concerned look on the previously giddy brunette, "I know." she said, pausing. "I can’t talk about it if I can’t understand it myself." She added, skimming through the files Elle had prepared for her that day.

Her assistant frowned, "well, that’s a first" she comnted, surprised at Sam’s choice of words. ’I can’t understand it myself’ was sothing she had never heard from the redhead, it usually goes as either ’I have an idea’, ’I’ll figure it out’ but never ’I don’t understand’. Elle watched Sam leave to her Lab, a cup of coffee on top of the folders in her hand, ready for work.

The day went smoothly, the next thing she knew it was 7 PM, and she was shrugging her lab coat and putting on her jacket. A hand reached to her nape, rubbing the sore muscles. The loud music that played in the background while she worked helped muffle her own thoughts. Thoughts she’d rather not possess.

She had ignored Levi’s text 4 hours ago, by the only way she knew how by ’accidentally’ blowing her mobile phone up in the Lab microwave. Although the CCTV caras inside would say she placed it there and watched it blow up in morbid satisfaction.

The redhead didn’t like how his voice seed to echo in her head; she had a photographic mory. Yes, but as the na implied ’photo’ not audio. She had terrible auditory mory---that’s why she had trouble recalling Anna’s na when she first t her. But her brain didn’t seem to get the sa mo when it ca to the younger Jackson.

Her brow twitched in annoyance, and she pressed her aching sinuses in an attempt to soothe it when his moan suddenly played in her head—haunting her.

’F*ck’ she cussed inwardly while expelling an unattractive groan as she walked through the empty hallway of Guy’s when her finger traced the mark behind her shoulder blade. She didn’t expect him still to have so sort of oral fixation in him, but he did.

"Rough day?" She heard his voice again, causing her to stiffen and turn to the source while ntally debating if she just imagined it. But there stood a foot away was Levi Jackson in all his vogue-like-cover glory, looking at her with his signature smile.

"You can say that." She replied, turning and walking forward, knowing all too well he’ll follow, and the two moved in familiar ease towards her office.

"I tried calling you--your number can’t be reached", Levi said casually, Sam pulled the burnt mobile in her pocket and showed it to him.

His brows raised in both amusent and intrigue but did not verbalize his curiosity as to why her phone was literally burnt.

The two made their way to her office where she left the finished folders on her desk, closing the door soon after.

"Fish n’ chips?" He casually asked. She shrugged in response, not bothering to spare him a look--sothing he noticed. She had been acting odd since Monday morning when he woke up in her bed by himself.

No sign of her. Only a note that said, ’went for a run’. Which he found odd considering her jog schedule were T-W-F-Sat.

The two went to their go-to restaurant, ordering their usuals, where he silently observed her behaviour.

Her shoulders tense--a sign of discomfort.

’nstrual cramps?’ he ntally considered. Unlikely, her cycle starts at the 3rd week of every month, he thought.

’In pain? No sign of visible injuries.’

While he was doing just that, their eyes t, and she sent him the most intimidating look he’d ever seen her do.

She was furious.

At him.

’Why?’

He didn’t have a clue.

Levi Jackson having no clue in a sentence, made him frown visibly.

"What?" He asked her; clearly, he did sothing his genius mind couldn’t recall. Did it have sothing to do with their last night together? He apologised when he bit her, was that it? It can’t possibly be it. She simply laughed it off, stating he still had so sort of oral fixation.

"Stop reading ." She said, taking a sip from her water. His eyes narrowed at her, "I wouldn’t need to read you if you simply tell what’s wrong?" He replied, looking at her with the sa intensity she had in her eyes.

"Nothing’s wrong." She lied, subconsciously clenching her jaw. He looked at her, insulted, sending her an incredulous look that says, ’do you actually believe I would fall for that?’. Her gaze softened suddenly, seeing a minuscule amount of hurt flashed in his eyes. She hated lying to him.

"Just stop reading ." She said, finishing her chips. Levi tore his eyes away from her, which she appreciated sowhat.

The ride back was heavy, causing Sam to clench her jaw. He had not looked at her since her little episode, simply because he wouldn’t be able to help himself to read her if he did. The car stopped in front of her doorstep, and Levi walked her to her door and bid her goodnight, seeing as their so-called argunt dampened the mood.

When suddenly, Sam grabbed his arm and pulled him through the door with her.

He shot her a confused look, and before he could even ask she had slamd the door behind him shut. Her hand gripped his necktie pulling him towards her and kissing him.

The Irishman responded in a heartbeat, and though still in a confused daze at her odd behaviour, he didn’t complain.

His coat was on the floor before he knew it, and the next thing he knew, she was already unbuckling his belt as she straddled him on the sofa. He still had his shirt and shoes on, and she was still as fully clothed as him.

He had never seen her like this.

Wanting.

Needing.

Her teeth grazed his neck harshly, as she held onto him for dear life while straddling him, rocking back and forth. Not giving a damn about foreplay; she just wanted him.

A need driving her almost insane.

His hand gripped her waist, fingers digging to her flesh-- wanting precisely what she craved.

Bliss.

......

It was an hour later when the two decided to rest, now in that ’after sex cuddle’ on the bed, naked. Levi’s hand was absentmindedly caressing the exposed skin along her waist up to her hips in so peculiar fascination.

He had done that before, she noted, the gesture relaxed her causing her eyelids to drop.

She had decided during the car ride ho that it didn’t matter, ’it’ being she was in love with him. Apparently, during the climax, realization had hit her that she had always loved him. In ways, she can’t express, and sex was simply, but another ans to that emotion. Why in the first place she agreed to the set up--breaking all the rules, that was like walls she built over the years.

’It’ also didn’t matter that he didn’t feel the exact sa way. She doesn’t know when he’ll grow tired of her, or if his feelings will change the way hers did. Only ti will tell, and so she decided to keep it to herself. After all, one should guard their heart the most.

She was happy with just that...

Her eyes opened when she felt him pressed himself against her in an embrace from behind. And she leaned back, relaxed, and let him find a comfortable position. His lips brushed against the back of her shoulder blade while he humd, "hmmm" inspecting her healing bite mark.

Suddenly, crawling on top of her, she cocked a surprised brow wondering if he actually wanted another round---well, she had never been so exhausted in her life---how he managed to have such stamina without any sort of regular exercise she found astonishing.

Instead, he kissed her.

Apparently, he just wanted to make out. Slightly relieved Sam, kissed back--how he kissed her sotis as he did then caught her off guard. Of how gentle and soft his lips would sh with hers. Soft, gentle kisses.

How it differed to his usual kisses, rough and passionate; not that she would complain in either style. She truly liked both.

Sam moaned against his lips, satisfied. Feeling him smile against the kiss seconds after, pleased himself.

Yes, indeed....she was happy with just that.

Secretly loving...

Levi Jackson.
