Day Ninety-Eight…
Jane, Nathan, and Ethan were having a bonding mont in the pool area when they received an unexpected visitor.
The maid approached them and said, "Sir, soone who is claiming to be your brother is here to see you. Should I let him in?"
Jane and Nathan exchanged glances with one another. The only person that ca to their mind was Vincent.
'What is he doing here?' Nathan frowned. He hesitated for a mont before asking Jane and Ethan.
"What do you think? Should I et him?"
Ethan grabbed Jane's hand before nodding. "Let's hear what he has to say, Dad. Invite Uncle Vincent in. This will be the last ti."
Jane bobbed her head in agreent. Though she considered Vincent as her worst enemy and a great threat to her family, she was curious as to why he had the audacity to show himself in front of them after what he did.
'Yes. This is the last ti I'll talk to him in a calm manner. The next ti he shows up to cause harm to my family, I'll definitely kill him. I have to eliminate potential threats to my loved ones.' Jane swore to herself.
It did not take long before Vincent walked toward them. Jane was surprised to see Mia standing next to him.
"Mommy Jane!" Mia called out before running in her direction. The young girl imdiately hugged Jane upon reaching her spot.
Nathan and Ethan gazed at Vincent sharply. They were mad, thinking Vincent ca to use Mia with his other sche.
anwhile, Jane crouched down to embrace the young girl. She felt sorry for her. The innocent child beca a tool for his father's revenge and sche.
"I'm glad you are safe, Mommy. You are finally awake. I thought I would never see you again." The young girl began to cry in her arms.
Jane gently stroked her hair. "Don't cry, Baby. I'm fine."
The mother and daughter just continued hugging each other while Nathan confronted his brother.
"Why are you here? What do you want?"
Vincent t Nathan's gaze with an unreadable expression on his face.
"There is sothing I want to discuss with you and Jane. Can you spare your ti? I'm not here to cause trouble. Please hear out," Vincent said earnestly.
Neither Nathan nor Jane expected to see Vincent beg from them. Was he sincere about this?
Breaking the hug, Jane smiled at Mia. "Can you go and play with Ethan?"
Mia promptly nodded. "Yes, Mommy."
Understanding his mother's motive, Ethan grabbed Mia's hand. "Co with . Let's play with my robotic friends in my room."
Jane could only smile as she watched the two children run inside the house. She was truly happy to see them getting along well, not only as friends but also like siblings.
Jane stood up and faced Vincent, her eyes scrutinizing him from head to toe. Nathan moved closer to her as if he was trying to shield her from Vincent.
On the other hand, Vincent's gaze lingered on Jane's face. Deep inside, he felt so glad to see her safe and sound. He was utterly devastated the mont he witnessed her shooting herself. He thought that was the last ti he would be seeing her alive.
"I've done so many bad things to you," Vincent started. "At first, I tried to hurt you because you were important to him."
Vincent smiled bitterly as he darted his gaze back and forth between Nathan and Jane.
"I know… everything is my fault. I hated my father. But my jealousy drove mad to the point of being obsessed with my brother. I wanted Nathan to suffer and experience losing everything."
He paused for a mont, clenching his fists. He could feel the tinge of regret in his heart as he looked at them.
"When I t you… I was supposed to only use you to make him more miserable. However, I didn't expect that knowing you would change . I was attracted to you… and because of your relationship with my brother… I beca more jealous of him. I loathed him more."
Vincent didn't need to hold back. He was telling them what he truly felt. How things started and how they ended in this.
"I truly wish… I could steal everything he had… including you." There was sadness in his eyes as he gazed at her.
"And just one day, I woke up… always thinking of you. I couldn't get you out of my mind. At that ti, I kept denying to myself that I had already developed strong feelings toward you. I didn't want to hurt you, Jane. But I couldn't let you go. Because of you… I beca more determined to defeat Nathan."
Vincent finally showed remorse. "I regret everything I did. I know it's too late. I hurt you so much. I beca your darkest nightmare. I took your son from you. I separated you from Nathan. I made the two of you beco enemies."
"I thought I could be the man who could do everything for love… Not until… I witnessed how Nathan sacrificed his own life just to protect you and Ethan. Not until… I saw how Ethan shielded you from harm, disregarding his own safety… Not until… I watched you choosing death just to be with them…" Those monts were already etched in his mind. He would never forget it.
"At that certain mont, my love for you is nothing compared to the love Ethan and Nathan have for you. And I know how much you love them unconditionally."
Nathan and Jane had conflicting thoughts as they listened to Vincent. They didn't want to admit it, but they could feel sincerity in Vincent's words.
"For once, I thought if I couldn't have you, then it was best for to destroy you… taking you away from Nathan forever. But I was wrong… when I saw you dying that night, I felt like my entire world crumbled. I couldn't take it… the pain of losing you forever. That was my wake-up call, Jane."
After saying those words, Vincent dropped to his knees in front of them, staring at the ground, unable to face them.
"Forgive , Jane. Forgive , Nate. I know it's too late. But I am sincerely apologizing to both of you. What I did in the past is unforgivable. You can take my life… and kill . I deserve to die. But here I am… I want to beg you to spare … I want to start over again…" his voice trembled as he tried his best to hold back his tears. Vincent was showing them his vulnerability.
Nathan and Jane were at a loss for words. Was this real? Vincent was finally humbling himself, apologizing, and begging them. There was a long mont of silence before Nathan spoke up.
"We couldn't trust you. This might be part of your sche. Stop pretending already. No matter what you do, you can't change the fact that you are always scheming and deceiving us." Nathan doubted him.
But Vincent remained still, bowing his head. "I understand if you feel that way. But I swear… this ti I'm telling the truth. I want to forget about this damn revenge. I want to have a new life with Mia… And I promise… I won't ever show myself in front of you and Jane… again."
