Day Ninety-Seven...
"Master! Wake up! Wake up!"
Jane peeled her eyes open only to see a bright light. She blinked several tis and waited for a mont as she adjusted her vision. It did not take long before Bam-Bam’s fluffy figure ca into her view.
"Bam-Bam!" Jane sat up, grabbing the magical creature. She engulfed him in her arms, rubbing her face on his fluffy belly.
Bam-Bam’s soft chuckle reverberated in the area. "Master, congratulations! You successfully completed your mission!"
Jane released Bam-Bam upon hearing that. She gazed at him with her teary eyes. "Did I save Ethan and Nathan?"
Bam-Bam nodded in confirmation. "You don’t have to worry, Master. They are now safe. And you can be with them in a while."
"Thank you, Bam-Bam!" Jane hugged him again. "I owe you a lot."
"Master, I know you are so eager to be with them. Everyone is waiting for you. But let grab this opportunity to say goodbye."
Jane fell silent for a mont. She recalled that she would forget about Bam-Bam’s existence once she returned to the current tiline.
"Then let stay here for a while," Jane said, holding Bam-Bam’s paw.
The two of them sat down. Jane realized that they were in an unfamiliar space.
Bam-Bam smiled at her. "Master, you deserve to be happy. I didn’t regret helping you."
"Bam-Bam... I can still vividly rember the first ti I t you. Do you know I cursed so a lot when you gave this ridiculous mission? I thought it would be impossible to make Nathan fall for in just one hundred days." Jane giggled as she reminisced about her first encounter with Bam-Bam.
Bam-Bam put on a pitiful face. "Master, you were so harsh to ."
Jane let out another soft giggle as she began stroking Bam-Bam’s head. "I’m sorry, Bam-Bam. I might have treated you badly before. But I want you to know that you are my friend... by best pal. You are also important to ."
Bam-Bam tried his best to conceal his sadness. He hadn’t told Jane yet that he would disappear. He planned to keep it a secret from her so that she wouldn’t feel guilty. It was his decision to sacrifice his life for Jane’s happiness.
"Master... I hope you will stay happy and live peacefully once you return ho... back to your loved ones."
Jane bobbed her head. "Yes. I will do that. I will not waste the second and third chances you’ve given , Bam-Bam. I will live well."
"I hope... soday... I will be able to rember you and et you again. This is not a goodbye for us... my best pal." Jane shook Bam-Bam’s paw as though she was shaking his hand.
Bam-Bam could only smile as he listened to her.
"I will be watching you on the other side, Master," Bam-Bam said aningfully as he reached out, his paws caressing Jane’s cheeks.
"It’s ti for you to wake up now, Master."
Jane felt that sothing was off with Bam-Bam. His eyes didn’t look happy at all.
"Bam-Bam, is there sothing wrong? Did you hide sothing from ? Since I will forget about you once I return, why don’t you tell everything? No more secrets." Jane was reluctant to leave Bam-Bam.
anwhile, Bam-Bam was taken aback for a mont. ’Master has a point. This is the last ti I will be interacting with her. Should I tell her the truth? Will Master cry for if I am gone?’
Jane’s gaze remained fixed on Bam-Bam, still waiting for him to open up with her. ’It looks like he wants to tell sothing but he is hesitating.’
Jane had a nagging feeling about this. "Bam-Bam, did you lie to ? Am I not going to see Nathan and Ethan again?"
"No, Master!" Bam-Bam shook his head frantically. "You will see them for sure. You will be reunited with them."
Jane heaved a sigh of relief upon hearing that. "Then why do you look so sad? What’s troubling you?"
Bam-Bam looked away, staring at his feet. "Master, the truth is... I’m going to miss you. For the past ninety-seven days, I’ve been watching you. I’ve grown so fond of you and beco attached to you and your family. Sotis, I wonder what it would feel like to be part of your family. If only I were human, I would want to et you again and beco your friend."
"But I know... this is just my wishful thinking. I’m a magical creature. I would never beco a human." Bam-Bam was becoming more sentintal as he spoke to her.
Jane gently stroked his head and said, "You’ve done so many miracles in my life. Why don’t you do that to yourself? I really hope that you can beco part of my family."
Bam-Bam gazed at her with his teary eyes. "Master, the truth is... I’m going to disappear. My ti with you is almost up."
Jane frowned deeply upon hearing that. "WHAT? What do you an you are going to disappear?"
Bam-Bam stood up and flew in front of her. "This is my last goodbye to you, Master. But don’t bla yourself and don’t be sad. I made this choice because you are my best pal! You are special to . I don’t regret sacrificing my life for your happiness. My life in exchange for Nathan and Ethan’s lives. It was all worth it."
Jane froze at Bam-Bam’s revelation. For so unknown reason, she felt like she was hit by a lightning bolt.
’No! Why? Why did he have to disappear just because of ?’ Jane shook her head in disbelief. She couldn’t accept this.
"Bam-Bam, No! Maybe there is a way. Tell what should I do to help you! I don’t want you to disappear! If I need to complete another mission, then I will do it. Just don’t disappear Bam-Bam! Please..." Jane asked him in her desperate voice.
However, Bam-Bam just gave her a reassuring smile. "You’ve been through a lot, Master. No more mission. Just live your life and be happy. That will be enough for ."
After saying that, Bam-Bam moved closer to Jane, embracing her. ’My master really cares about . She cried because of . I’m so happy that my life matters to her.’
"Master, ti to go back now. You have to wake up now and be with Ethan and Nathan. Farewell, Master..." After saying those words, a bright light engulfed Jane’s body. That was the last ti she had a conversation with Bam-Bam, her ultimate savior! Her best pal!
