- HAZEL -
The dorm is quiet. I sneak in, trying to avoid passing through the dorm mistress in charge.
It’s too quiet that it irks . Surely not every human here went for lectures. Is there a program that required all our attention that I wasn’t aware of?
I dip my hand in my pocket to take out my room key. I didn’t study at all throughout yesterday. I plan to make up for it today but I finally have sothing to write in my journal.
A wide smile forms on my face.
A lot actually. There’s no freaking way I’ll miss adding the juice from last night.
I stand in front of my room door and stick the key in. A soft click rings in my ears as I turn the key to the side, the door just unlocked. I push the door in slowly, opening it. In case my roomies are trying to pull up a surprise attack, I won’t be so surprised. I peep my head in.
No one’s here. "Jasmine?" I call and wait for an answer. I know I didn’t see anyone but girls sotis do the most bizarre things. Who knows? Soone could be under the bed. I got no response. I can finally conclude no one’s here.
I do have one question though....
....Who the heck are these kids?
Since when are people eager to go for lectures? Am I missing sothing here? Because there’s no way in hell all of students in a dorm are away. I take the key out of the key hole and step in quietly.
I’ll use this desertion to my advantage. If no one’s here, then no one knows I’m here and I can use this as a pass to skip lectures today.
A loud thud catches my attention. I turn to know where it ca from. My keys fell. I catch a sight of it on the floor and bend to pick it up, and when I stand, my body hits soone.
Shoot! Soone is here.
"Oh my days, so sorry." I gush without looking up. My key is trapped in my hand.
"No, it’s okay. I should’ve been looking." The lady said. Wait. That voice. I rember that voice.
I raise my head up to look at the person in front of . It’s her.
My breath hitches. The one I t yesterday. To think I’m bumping into her again a second ti is crazy.
"Second ti’s a charm." I joke nervously. I’m wearing the sa thing I wore when I t her and she’s-, I look at her from head to toe, -nicely dressed. Again.
At first, she looked confused. Then a giggle leaves her lips. "Oh my goodness, it’s you."
I nod. "Yup." I laugh. "Must be fate at this point."
God no. Why did I say that? And why am I being nice?
Maybe it’s because she knows you’re here and you’re nervous so you’re nicing your way in, my mind says. That’s most likely accurate.
"I hope my fate is not bad luck. Would be a pain." She adds. So far, she’s matched the humour.
"Yeah." I murmur, letting the word linger in my tongue longer than it should. This is awkward. I never thought I’d et her again, it sure is like that in uni. You et soone today unexpectedly and won’t see them again till probably your final year. It’s a huge school, so if happens a lot. "I need to ask, are you new here?"
"Transfer student?" She asks, looking at "No. Although I will be around for quite a bit."
Interesting. "That’s chill. I’ll catch you around. Bye." I say, attempting to walk into my room to avoid further awkwardness.
"Hey," She calls, causing to stop. "I’m hosting a party tomorrow, care to co? Let’s have a conversation officially." The raspy tone of her sultry voice has my attention. And did she just say party? I actually got an invite sowhere?
I’m kind of like a loner here, mainly my fault, so this is huge!
"Sure. No prob. Just text the ti and location of the event." I say cooly, walking into my room.
"I don’t have your number." She says, stopping again.
Dang, that’s right. I’m not comfortable sharing my number though. I close my door slightly and tap it gently. "This is my room number. I’ll be here most tis."
"’Kay. Guess I’ll see you soon." She smiles.
"Yeah.." I don’t know her na. The realisation hit after I tried to say it.
"Caroline Suzuki." She says. As usual, she understood.
"Thanks. I’m Hazel. Hazel Sumrs." I blurt out hastily. I just want to rest on my bed before anymore people magically show up.
"Hazel. Nice na." She mutters eerily with a wicked grin.
I flash her a smile. On a normal day, that would leave terrified but I am in a rush to stay in my room and do nothing! "I have things to do. Bye. Thanks for the invite." I walk into my room and slam the door. I hear Caroline send her last greeting through the door.
I lock it and dip my key in my pocket.
Two good things just happened to today. First, Killian and his endeavours, and second, I got invited to a party.
Friendless life here is over for this hazelnut! Yes! My heart does a victory flip.
I throw my bag on my bed and jump on Jasmine’s. Right now, I just want to sleep. I have no idea why I feel this tired.
Maybe because you barely had any sleep last night? I bite my lip. My cheeks burn as everything replay in my head. It started in the shower.
I grin.
Oh my God, yes! That should be the title of my book Chapter. It started in the shower. Not bad.
