- KILLIAN -

I tap a pen on my desk, sighing each ti it collides with table. The gentle thud it makes eases my nerves. Almost like my zippo does.

The open and slam of my door against the wall draws my attention from the pen to the door.

“Calling at random hours is getting old, don’t you think?” I look at her. She’s standing in front of the door with her hips hung on one side and arms folded across her chest. Asami is wearing a free red dress. She tries to hide it but even I can tell her standing posture is feeble.

Natalie wants sothing different than I do. Believe it or not but I don’t want Asami dead. She is pretty slow to reasoning but I don’t even know if I should bla her for it because she’s an adult.

“Not talking to ? That’s pretty old too, don’t you think?” She advances forward, each step she takes makes a resounding clonk on the floor due to her heels. Should she be wearing that?

My head has a quick flashback of her body that day in my car. I shake the mory off.

I don’t think so.

I was so blinded with rage at her before but seeing her now coupled with what I saw of her body, the rage subsides and I don’t think it’s a good thing. I tend to get softer when it cos to her.

Why? I think that’s pretty obvious but I don’t like it.

“What do you possibly have to achieve by doing all this? Would it kill you to step away?”

Asami stops moving, standing in front of while keeping her distance. Her brows narrows for a second before straightening into a bold line to add a touch to her siren look. “You have to be more detailed, Killian, I can’t just tell what it is from sothing so abstract.”

“You know what I an!” I stamp my folded fist on my desk as I bark the words. I’m enraged. I take a deep breath to calm my nerves. My eyes draws up from my fist to her. She’s panting hard. She looks. . . terrified. This makes my hardened stare falter. “Don’t make want to hurt you. Stay away from Hazel. And the next ti you threaten her and treat her like so kind of puppet, I’ll be sure the next word I have with you would be actions.”

At first, she remained silent. Then slowly, her lips started to part. Now, her chuckle echoes in the room. We’re in the school. I don’t want Asami near my ho after that stunt she pulled.

Installing hidden caras? Just the thought of it is infuriating and disgusting. How low has she fallen to do such a thing? I have no reason to doubt that the bastard S was involved considering They handed that house to to live and she works under him. If they keep breaching the privacy aspect of our contract, then I have no choice but to do the sa. And I’ll ensure one way or the other, that They suffers the consequences of his actions.

“Don’t make turn that into a cry. And you are well aware my victims don’t cry without blood shed.”

Asami’s chuckle slowly withdraws. “The thing is Killian, I have nothing to lose.” She takes gentle steps backwards while keeping her eyes on . Her eyes are reddened and widening like she’s about to go feral. “I’ve had everything taken from since the day I was born.” She’s still walking back. Her voice is breaking and her breath is hitching after each word. “I’ve always had to play by rules. Always had to abide by rules. I’ve never been my own person. Even when I thought I was free, it was only temporary.”

“I don’t know how this relates to anything I’ve said.”

“THAT’S BECAUSE YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT IT’S LIKE TO HAVE THE ONE THING YOU CALLED YOURS TAKEN FROM YOU RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU!” Asami yelled, her voice raging yet slightly low like a whisper. I can tell she’s holding herself from crying.

I didn’t say a word, letting her vent. Trying to prove a point now won’t help. Part of believes Asami needs closure even though she’s the reason we fell apart.

“You were the only one I had.” Her cooes, eyes stuck to the ground. “Till you weren’t. And now I have to see you be with her. Be happy with her. She’s a nobody. She’s not better than . She’s not more stable than . She’s nothing compared to , yet you constantly choose her over like I an nothing to you! You’d even let die if it ant saving her. I missed having that with you.” She sobs.

All these things she’s saying doesn’t cut through the depths of my heart one bit.

“But nothing changes.” Her voice is getting calr with each word. “It’ll still be the sa cycle over and over again.” With the way her words are being cynical along with how she twists her head slowly to the left like it’s dawning hard on her scares . Asami’s eyes widens as it searching the floor for whatever it is she’s trying to gaze at. Her fingers crawl up opposite arms, nails slightly puncturing her skin as she imitates shivering. “If I’m going to let go, why don’t I let go knowing I did all I had to get rid of her?”

My brows furrow. What Natalie says is finally starting to make more sense to . Asami is insane.

“After all, S hates . You detest . No one in the world cares about and Owen. . . I don’t even know what he’s up to.” A cackle leaves her lips. “It won’t be long till I’m back in that asylum again to be punished.

Wait, an asylum? What does she an? I want to ask but this situation reads not to. I don’t like how she’s trying to connive to digging deep on what’s transpired in her life since we parted ways.

“And you’re not going to tell your precious, little Hazel who you are anyway.” A wide smile creeps its way to the ends of her lips as she cranes her head up to face . The head movent could be likened to that of a bot, breaking with every turn. “And that ans I get to pass my aggression and pain unto her as much as I like before I get what’s coming to .” Her laugh is maniacal. She’s burying herself between the wide open doors, stepping out so I won’t be able to reach her.

Asami is grieving but not in a humanly decent way. The mont her presence was gone, I let my forehead rest on both my thumbs pressed together as I lower my head. My elbow supports my arm on my desk. I begin to ponder everything I just heard.

Well, shit. I hate to say it but Natalie is right. Asami is well past saving now. No more words or compassion getting in the way, I have to put her to rest, for good.
